    Cool flight. Sweet jet. Lots of water out there in the Delta! I like the annunciation of the runway number taxiing into position, and "100'" warning approaching the end. Great situational awareness aids! They don't give us fancy gizmo's like that at the airlines. Corp. jets are always a decade ahead of airliners. Or maybe the airlines are just cheap? ;) Ha-ha! Thanks for sharing. I always used to joke my pick up truck had better navigation in it than my Boeing going to Hawaii! ;) :)

      We have done a lot of upgrades to our airplane so it is an interesting mix of the best that the 90s had to offer avionics-wise along with some modern touches. It does a good job considering! The X+ really is a phenomenal airplane with the Garmin 5000 suite. It’s really is a shame that they only made about 30 of them though.

    This might be a strange request, but I'd love it if you'd do a complete start-up showing your procedures, with cockpit panel views. I'm a sim pilot who flies the Citation X in X-Plane, and there are no real resources on YT for starting this aircraft. Nevertheless,, my self-taught procedures appear to be fairly close.

    • @johnkluenker
      @johnkluenker  11 місяців тому +3

      That’s a good idea. I’m actually heading to the airport to do a flight right now. I don’t have my GoPro‘s with me, but I may just film the start up procedure with my phone even though it will be low production value. I figure most viewers want something with more excitement and action than starting up the aircraft, but I could release this as a standalone video. Apologies in advance if the production isn’t as good as it could be. Maybe I’ll make a follow up one where I take some more time. Thanks for reaching out!

    • @johnkluenker
      @johnkluenker  Рік тому

      This was just a short VFR flight with no flight plan filed. On a typical longer distance trip we would plan and file an IFR flight plan. This is done through the ForeFlight app. ForeFlight produces a number of route options. It takes less than a minute to plan and file a flight across the country. Pretty nice!

    Nice video. My only comment is: why do that VFR? Probably saved you a minute or 2, and then you had to worry about keeping clear of clouds.

    • @johnkluenker
      @johnkluenker  Місяць тому

      Thank you. If I remember correctly that day there weren’t any clouds reported so it was a bit of a surprise. Going VFR simplifies things a bit and we can get some awkward routing on an IFR flight plan. If we had known about the clouds we probably would have filed IFR.

    I have a question:
    When “Winds are 180”, does that mean the wind is COMING from the south, or BLOWING to the south?

    • @johnkluenker
      @johnkluenker  10 місяців тому +1

      Great question. That means that the winds are blowing from the south. So if you had the choice of runways, you would want a runway that is closest to runway 18 which would have a heading of (roughly) 180 degrees. By choosing this runway, you would be landing or taking off into the wind. The higher the headwind, the less runway is required, because your speed across the ground is less for a given airspeed. Also, the closer the wind direction is to the runway heading, the less crosswind component you have. Crosswinds can get a little tricky.

    • @johnkluenker
      @johnkluenker  6 місяців тому

      You’re welcome. I guess I should release a version with no music during the checklists and taxi. I usually figure the viewers would be bored without the music to carry the video. Typical UA-cam viewers have VERY short attention spans! I normally fade it down to very quiet during checklists or radio communication. I’ll have to take another look at it. Thanks for the input!
