Came here because I wondered how it actually works. It’s so simple, beautiful 👍🏼 thanks for showing. One addition: the open cylinder actually sucks the concrete in actively because the piston moving back creates a vacuum behind the concrete. That’s why the level in the hopper drops in intervals
That's a trailer pump. It's actually closer to 300psi pumping pressure inside the house. A "pumper truck" is actually called a boom pump. The concrete is pulled into the material cylinders via suction, it doesn't flow. The "pipe" is called a swing tube. Any questions, feel free to ask. I have a couple videos up if you wanna check me out
The priming out takes a few try’s to get right, once you learn how it’s not bad. It’s a fast paced job to get setup before the concrete truck gets there
I have 15 years pumping concrete and shotcrete and Reed is a nice pump but if you want a shotcrete pump high pressure look at the warrior pumps ours has a 5.9 Cummins diesel .yeah it moves 8 sack at 2andva half or three inch slump 200 ft of hose at idle .
Largely depends on your (inner) hose diameter. Our rule of thumb is < 1/3 of the diameter. Just to be safe, I run 3/8" pea gravel in the 2" hose, which is < 1/4 of the diameter. I ran a maximum of 3/4" rock in the 3" hose.
Would it be possible to handle the end of the hose if you needed to fill upright galvanized culvert with concrete, say 8ft above ground standing on scaffolding?
Pump truck? Trailer pump or line pump is what you meant. And a pump truck isn't always a boom pump it could be a line pump mounted on a truck also called a city pump. Then you have placing booms and spider booms. If you guys think you use them enough and would consider investing in one let me know and we can look at options for you.
What's stopping aggregate (stones) from getting caught in the entrance of the two pipes as it swings across and closes on them? Surely it would get jammed all the time ?
It's easy, you suck a sponge back through the pump and then it bring it all back into the hopper and you rinse down just like a concrete truck. But that is on an actual pump truck. This video features a line pump
I was hoping to show someone how the spades switched between suction (from the hopper) to the line (pressure) ... My family in NOLA owned Carlo Ditta Inc ... and my dad owned a 105' whiteman Boom pump I worked on for a few years ... harshest was the summer of 1989 in NorCal ... where the temp averaged (for 3 months) over 115-degrees in the valleys we'd so frequently work in. THAT was some hard work. Big hoses, and clamps -- 4" I think, through a reducer to a 3" hose at the end ... all of which I (alone) cleaned up after we wrapped and on weekends. It's some serious work.
For a small trailer pump like that, with no vibrator, you need at least a 3-3.5" slump. With a good vibrator I pump a 2" all the time. Bigger the number, wetter the mud. Flat work is usually around a 5".
Up in the pacific NW we call the pump your using a line pump or a mason’s pump , pump trucks are generally equipped with a articulated boom that delivers materials thru steel lines to a rubber hose
Good job Now I am working in crown readymix dhaka bangladesh it is a big cement and ready mix manufacturing company i am working as pump co-ordinator doing pump operation work watching and listening mechanical/hydraulic work watching and listening i like doing this job if i get a good opportunity i will do more could do
Machines are expensive, and so are the hoses. And yes you need a 1 ton truck, minimum. So it's a pretty big investment. I've been told a new set up these days is more like $350k plus a truck.
Hello, Mr. My name is Amy, come from China , your video is very clear and I have learned a lot , on the stationary pump , you use double wall pipe or single wall pipe ?
We pump TOTALLY different in tx. No agitators in the hopper? That’s gotta be fun to wash out and 50 yards/hr is on the lower ends. I was spoiled and only ran German pumps…American pumps are trash along with Chinese. I been in the concrete world since I was 18. I’m 35 got into plumbing but I’m about to drive a mixer next week. I know a lot of ppl think they know what they are doin but just cause it hasn’t happened doesn’t me it won’t. I’ve had weeks where we lose a guy to just crazy shit. Read up and educate yourself before doing this it’s a top 3-5 dangerous job. Much love
@@EnolaGayx I asked my pump truck guy what they could do full bore and he said they often unload a full truck in 6 minutes. So, if a crew were able to handle that mud fast enough, I could see 4 minutes being done. These line pumps maybe not, but a boom truck really throws it. I imagine they can use similar piston sizes so I bet the larger ones could do similar.

I ran a line pump for 6 months, props to anyone who does that job.

No doubt iv ran a boom an line pump for 7 now not that bad I prefer ground pump

What is the coarse aggregate size required for the pump?
Largely depends on your (inner) hose diameter. Our rule of thumb is < 1/3 of the diameter.

How often do the piston pushing the concrete need replacing? How much would it cost to rent one?

Why not using the bibrator in concrete place?
Wasnt needed. Concrete was wet enough. When you pump crete like this you wont need a vibrator.

What lubricant did you use sir. Or grease?
If I need exactly 4 yards, how much would I order, i.e., how much does the pump waste, or is there no waste for prep and clean up?
We always add a yard when pumping
Ok

50 yards an hour?? Thats kinda slow i have a 959 oilnpump which can actually do around 95 yards an hour
I call BS on that 1.
Ball valve and how much you don't expect people who pump to believe that
95 cy/hr is kinda slow too. Should be able to get at least 100cy/hr out of a decent trailer pump. 200cy/hr+++ out of a decent sized boom.
