    Use small dental elastics (3/8” or 5/16”) for traction tires. They are used on braces. They are cheap and they work !

    First check for carbon build up on the armature on,the DC electric motor. Second check the wheel pick up and return wheels on powered units. Clean the wheels on the powered units. Take apart the powered units trucks and clean with rubbing alcohol. Aloso, tha is a good find.

    These shows are always interesting, in this case it’s about an hour west of here. I spotted a few British items and a pity you didn’t hover about them.
    I know the North American locos are often colourful and interesting and certainly have an appeal but I am surprised you don’t run British outline?

    The D&H Alco PA is definitely approved by a D&H fan like me. The Delaware & Hudson bought four Alco PAs from the Santa Fe in the mid 1960s to pull their passenger trains between Albany, NY and Montreal. However the D&H didn't purchase any B units from the Santa Fe. So that's the only unprototypical thing about the Athearn Blue Box Locomotives. Apart from that they are a great purchase!

    • @ScottRails
      @ScottRails  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the info. So did they run them without B Units? or did they use their own design?

    • @thegreatdh
      @thegreatdh Рік тому +1

      @@ScottRails The D&H didn't have B units at all. The passenger trains they did run rarely exceeded more than 10 cars, except for excursion trains. What they did was run the PA's individually or have two A units back to back. However by the end of their careers on the D&H they were used to pull freight so don't shy away from using that PA to pull some freight around the loop!

    The Chessie loco looks like a Tyco ALCO hi hood C628, it might be missing the fuel tank, there shouldn't be such a large gap between the trucks. Those Athearn Blue Box ALCO PA locomotives are beautiful, always loved the D&H paint scheme on those and in my opinion the nicest paint scheme to ever grace the PA locomotives.

    • @ScottRails
      @ScottRails  Рік тому +2

    I think you have to have the coal tender connected to the loco to get it to run on its own.

    • @ScottRails
      @ScottRails  Рік тому +1

      Yes indeed. It looks like that wire just connects to a screw on the chassis of the tender. Easy fix, but the plastic bar connecting the units is garbage. I'll make something better.
