- Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: Thirty-six years after the events of the first film, Lydia Deetz hosts a supernatural talk show called Ghost House, produced by her boyfriend Rory. During the taping of a segment, Lydia sees visions of the ghost Betelgeuse in the audience.
Shortly thereafter, Delia, Lydia’s stepmother, shares the news about the death of her father, Charles. En route to Winter River for the funeral services, the surviving Deetz family members pick up Lydia’s estranged daughter, Astrid, from boarding school. It is revealed that Lydia and Astrid’s father, Richard, had been in a relationship which ended up in a divorce, two years before his disappearance in South America. Following the funeral services, Rory proposes to Lydia, which she accepts, causing Astrid to flee and meet Jeremy, who invites her over prior to the wedding. On Halloween, Astrid discovers that Jeremy is a ghost who needs Astrid’s assistance in restoring his life. Astrid agrees when Jeremy reveals she can reunite with her father, and the two enter the afterlife after the former recites an incantation from the Handbook For The Recently Diseased. Lydia discovers Jeremy’s plan and reluctantly calls upon Betelgeuse for his help in retrieving Astrid. He agrees on the condition that Lydia let him marry her, allowing him to inhabit the mortal world and escape the threat of his ex-wife Delores who is hunting him in the afterlife. Lydia agrees.
Betelgeuse and Lydia are transported into the afterlife train station in an attempt to stop Astrid from boarding the “Soul Train”, which transports souls into the beyond. By reciting the incantation, Astrid was tricked into switching places with Jeremy in order for him to regain his life. While being escorted to the platform, Astrid notices one of the stations employees is Richard. Lydia rescues Astrid, but an emergency exit sends them to one of Saturn’s moons. They encounter a sand worm but are rescued by Richard, who escorts them back to Winter River. As Jeremy attempts to cross over into the world of the living, he is stopped by Betelgeuse and is sent to Hell. Betelgeuse then enlists the help of Delia to return to the mortal world after she is bitten by a snake and sent to the afterlife.
At a nearby church, Lydia and Astrid arrive as Rory waits at the altar. With Delia by his side, Betelgeuse hijacks the wedding and injects Rory with truth serum, after which he confesses his intention to marry Lydia for her money. An enraged Lydia punches Rory, knocking him out. As Betelgeuse prepares to marry Lydia, an angry Delores arrives and corners him. Using the handbook as a guide, Astrid unleashes a sand worm into the church, which Betelgeuse deflects, causing it to eat Delores and Rory whole. The ceremony is thwarted off as Lydia and Astrid reveal that Betelgeuse violated the rules of the handbook and his own contract, causing him to inflate like a balloon and pop. In the aftermath, Lydia and Astrid reassure their love for Delia as she crosses over. On the platform to the Soul Train, Delia reunites with the remains of Charles before boarding the train to the beyond.
Some time later, Lydia films the final segment of her last episode of Ghost House, opting to spend time with Astrid. The two venture to Dracula’s castle and Astrid becomes smitten with an employee, Vlad. In a brief sequence, Astrid and Vlad eventually get married with Lydia watching from the side. Unfortunately, Lydia still has nightmares about Betelgeuse as one of her dreams was about Astrid having Betelgeuse’s child. Traumatized, Lydia awakens from her sleep, shocked.

SPOILERS*** I really enjoyed Beteljuice Beteljuice but ai do agree the ex-wife situation was like “Eh, here’s a subplot I guess” lol nonetheless I surprisingly really enjoyed it! Jenna Ortega’s character was annoying but here storyline made sense as far as the being able to see dead ppl. I thought that was a good twist.
