I used to live in CA. Went to a community college outside on the edges of LA County around 2017. During an election, a lady in my economics class(what a propaganda filled class) got up in front of everyone and said "Everyone! You should vote for Newsome! I have known him personally for years and I think you should vote for him." I fully regret not getting up right after and telling her what I thought during her spiel, something like "Don't any of you vote for someone JUST because someone else says they know them, that means nothing because we don't know this lady"

To be fair, the Republicans in CA are just as bad. They’re just not in control of the government. Both sides of the aisle are rotten to the core and don’t care one bit about the people they’re supposed to represent.
The sad part is that most people who are qualified don’t run and those that do are entitled narcissists. I would vote for anyone, regardless of political leaning, with an ounce of integrity and actually works for the people.
