Took a small hot water bottle up Kinder on my wild camp last weekend in -5 temperatures. Was a game changer sat in toe box end of the sleeping bag.

You could try Farleton Knott on the Lancashire/Cumbria border. Not the highest but very interesting. Easy to get to. Also Whitbarrow off the A590. Being up there’s like being on the set of Jurassic Park.

Gloves....... Insulated sealskinz as they're awesome for packing away on cold mornings and for the really cold stuff Montane prism gloves. Expensive but lightweight and toasty warm.

A 2nd for Montane, I use the supercell gloves in winter, not cheap but very toasty! Used them up Helvellyn on a day with -18 degrees windchill!
Best hike in uk is hands down the south west coast path come on now, barely any road walking and beautiful the whole way, though being a Cornishman ofc I may be biased

Dude, proper sealskinz are dope.
For me, I wear sealskinz when it's raining only. Don't need the sweaty hands. I have some sondico footy gloves for the cold and for trekking poles (not goalie gloves), and I have standard wooly "dry"gloves for bedtime if needed. Oh yeah, mittens for snow.
My favourite underatted bit of kit I have, is my blow-up knee pillow. Transformed my hikes. I don't wake up with a bad back anymore.

Good answer Liam, :) i have sold my Soulo and Nallo now after owning 2 of each and now using the Nammatj 2 and loving having that extra space and the peace of mind thats its a Black Belt 3rd dan at fighting bad weather. Re gloves i use Montbell Prism in camp but for walk ins just a cheap pair of 3 quid Site gloves with very thin rubber palm from Screwfix and then for Very cold wet walk ins or pitching and striking camp then Showa gloves that are waterproof lined and breathable and only about 25 quid ( Used by loads of US through hikers) IMO thats the best combo after years of spending loads and trying loads and suffering loads. Showa gloves are used by Japanese fishermen btw.
Great channel I agree I love the packing the bag the gear and planning the camps and of course the views but I fo like making the food and the most of all that the solitude top man 👍

Good craic Liam. On the topic of gloves. I’ve just purchased some Hestra Kebnekaise mitts for around camp. I have Mountain equipment guide gloves and Mountain Equipment touch screen gloves for general use, However I need to find a glove u can get on when your hands are damp.

1 for the gloves question I have some Montane prism for when I get to camp super warm and pack really small as for just general hiking I've just got some seal skin Harland hope there ok I've tried lots of different 1s my winter gloves are Rab storm gloves
Another vote for the prism, but best advice is take several pairs of gloves in case they get wet and some hot hands! Nowt worse than freezing digits!
@@sam.midford yea I always have 2 pairs in winter and sometimes I carry some big mittens as well.i carry hot hands but tend not to use them on my hands but throw 1 in my sleeping bag at night
