Obviously his power was awesome, but what always made him terrifying to me was his head movement. Imagine throwing punches at a guy, hitting nothing but air, and then he hits you once and sends you flying. Truly a 1 of 1.

That Tyson, pre prison, would give any heavyweight a problem. The speed, power and angles he had were, like you said , nothing we have ever seen before or after. People don’t give Mike enough credit for his boxing skills. Tyson was an extremely technical fighter and a boxing historian. He lived this sport. I will always say that a prime Mike Tyson was one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history.

My personal favorite K.O. of Tyson's is the second Bruno one. I've watched it so many times it's just amazing. Imagine Mike coming out of prison eager to regain his title, ferociously attacking Bruno for 3 rounds, until the Britain had to improvise- stepping in south paw, Tyson ducking underneath and exploding with his signature "left, down the right combination", throwing hooks and uppercuts to Frank's face, ultimately ending his career. Another detail is- what I think is a woman screaming JUST as Mike unleashes the 1-2 combo at 28:33... it just adds up to the slaughter :D (I suggest watching the fight with audio :D). By the way I'm pretty sure he had only 1 loss coming into the fight with Bruno, perhaps he was 43-1 rather then 41-3. Non the less amazing video, thanks for the work :)
His boxing Skills and IQ are rarely appreciated. People assumed he was just a hard punching brawler. You're breakdowns show his true skill and abilities.

Mike Tyson could've, and should've, been the greatest heavyweight of all time. People talk about Cus (rightly) but it was Kevin Rooney who kept Tyson focused and disciplined after Cus. It was King telling Tyson to ditch Rooney ( the last person in boxing that, like Cus, cared about him and wanted to make him great) that destroyed Tysons career. Its one of the greatest tragedies and what ifs in sport history.
He had zero chance of gaining the title of greatest heavyweight of all time. To start, the era Tyson fought in was a downtime in the heavyweight division. From when he knocked out Trevor Berbick until he lost to Buster Douglas, name me one notable heavyweight of that era. Then, when big name heavyweights were around, he either never fought them (Riddick Bowe) or lost to them (Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis). This nonsensical notion of Mike being so dominant, when his resume is so subpar, is truly a wonder of seeing him on video knocking out tomato cans and everyone thinking this is how it went for every one of his fights. Most fighters dominate their early opponents, it's not shocking he knocked out a bunch inside the first few rounds, most top end fighters did the same. Also to pretend Tyson's technique didn't start to degrade almost immediately upon D'Amato's passing is ridiculous, Tyson has even admitted it himself. When Cus died, he had no one to be perfect for, and his footwork and head movement degrade with each fight after. Rooney and the rest of D'Amato's team were smart to keep him constantly fighting to keep him focused, but Ultimately once the success kicked in it was a losing game. Even fights Tyson is winning in the mid stages of his career he is doing through sheer power, not the techniques that he had honed under D'Amato. But to pretend Tyson had any chance dethroning the actual GOAT in Muhammad Ali is a level of retarded I can't even fathom. Ali ducked no one, fought multiple hall of famers (George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, Floyd Patterson, Archie Moore, Ken Norton) and either beat them in their only match, or on the few occasions he did lose, would win the rematch and then the rubber match. That's why Ali is the greatest of all time.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 I said Rooney kept him disciplined. The fact you call Ali the greatest says everything. Ali isn't even in the top 5 greatest.
@@CraicDealer Ali has wins over eight boxing hall of famers (Moore, Patterson, Frazier, Foster, Liston, Norton, Holmes and Foreman). Tyson has two in Spinks, who was a light heavyweight, 10 years older than Tyson at the time of their match, and retired after, and Larry Holmes, who was literally retired for two years before their fight and was only lured back for a $2.8 million dollar payday. Yes, Ali was the greatest of all time, when he lost to Frazier and Norton, he not only won the rematch, he won the rubber match. He ducked no one, also lost three years of his prime just like Tyson (though certainly not for the same reason) and fought a significantly tougher era. The better question is why you're so desperate to prop up a guy who spent 90% of his career first round KO'ing tomato cans.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 I don't care much for Tyson, actually, I was just pointing out his career and getting fucked over, repeatedly, by that snake King. None of that makes Ali the greatest, cos that's not how boxing works. Joe Louis was the greatest heavyweight.

For anyone who suggests that Mike Tyson only beat tomato cans, I'd recommend you watch Larry Holmes vs. Ray Mercer, fought over four years *AFTER* this fight, at 43 years old.
Larry Holmes is seriously underrated compared to Tyson. While Tyson was explosive and exciting to watch, Holmes defended the heavyweight title 20 times compared to Tyson’s 9, had knockout power equal to Tyson’s (both with 44 knockouts), and at one point was 68 0, just shy of Marciano’s record. His jab was one of the best in boxing history, and his technical skills were next level. Tyson beat him, but let’s not forget Holmes came out of a 2-year retirement with only 3 weeks' notice to fight a 22 year old Tyson in his prime. Holmes was 38. The fact that Holmes even stepped into the ring under those circumstances says a lot about his toughness. Both are legends, but Holmes deserves way more credit for what he achieved in the sport.
@@dennisb6954 I agree that Holmes is one of the best boxers of all time, but he did *not* have KO power like Iron Mike did. Could he knock people out? Sure, but usually after many rounds abusing opponents with his GOAT-tier jab. Tyson was starching people in the first minute of the fight.
It is a shame that Tyson peaked in his early twenties, but his phenomenal activity meant that by the time of his first loss he already had an all-time-great resume. Spinks, Holmes, Tucker, Thomas, Smith, Berbick, Bruno plenty of champion-level guys and some notable contenders like Green,Jaco, Stewart, Frazier, Gibralta and such. People downplaying Mikes accomplishments have to say that his era was bad, which is really just a vibes based non-argument.
Honestly I never understood the downplay of him fighting fighters out of their prime, that's like saying Evander Holyfield's win against Foreman wasn't legit because he was 42 years old, or even Muhammad Ali's win over Liston wasn't legit because he was older than Cassius
@@xavierjuno4572 because foreman and liston were active and beating most fellas, holmes however was 20 years older, retired and on short notice, there are a few differences
People constantly downplay Tyson saying he fought in an era of weaklings but dont realize that hes the reason they never became anything cuz he cut them down so effortlessly. if you look at the fighters who we consider coming from legendary ages of boxing you'll see them go back and fourth with eachother but Tyson just steamrolled everyone cementing himself as the only king on the hill in his era.
Thank you! Iron Mike was one of the three greatest boxers in the last hundred years. But Mike's legend continues to grow, for few fighters, if any, have gone through such incredible transformation as has Mike Tyson. A living poster child on the benefits of psychedelic therapy. Poor decision making skills? Not Iron Mike! Be Here Now. Peace.

Can you go in depth and explain all the knockouts of a Muay Thai fighter? Don’t care which one but would much appreciate it
He did some reviews of buakaw rotang and samaet
WAKE UP TMMA JUST DROPPED A VIDEO
Mike "Neo" Tyson with those matrix like moves vs Reggie Gross @14:00-15:13...Just WOW🤯🤯🤯
Excellent video💯💯💯
I stayed in bed today which I think makes me really wise
After this, we have to talk about his losses in as much detail as possible!
tyson punches got me acting unwise
People constantly downplay Tyson saying he fought in an era of weaklings but dont realize that hes the reason they never became anything cuz he cut them down so effortlessly. if you look at the fighters who we consider coming from legendary ages of boxing you'll see them go back and fourth with eachother but Tyson just steamrolled everyone cementing himself as the only king on the hill in his era.
"unwisely got back up" Great video, thank you!
A knockout is when your body says "Obviously, You don't know what you're doing".
Example #1 is Trevor Berbick
Example #2 Tony Tubbs
Peace.
If you learn anything from this video, it should be that getting up after Tyson knocks you down is unwise.
Omg that "Ricky Spanish" bit caught me off guard. Lmao!
Every single one of these men “unwisely” answered the count 😂😂😂😂😂
I also thought Ricky Spanish from American Dad
