Honestly, not only is it really cute, but it's really cool that the show has these normal kids with normal lives, (aside from the bullshit) have different things they say and do to make them stand out. Rena repeating the last part of her sentence is kinda like a stutter of sorts. And she does it in any mood she's in. Idk. What do you guys think?
I like how you highlight they all really are a normal kids and it's kind of dumb how in some cases bad luck for some of the characters just put them in a worst possible situations you can imagine. I can't help it but feel bad about all the things they had to endure. Season 1 was batshit insane.
It's an entire design choice in original game! It's my first novel with text occupying most of the screen, and it was surprisingly easy to read, because each character uses specific suffixes, catch-phrases and styles of speech Which is *very nice* considering this novel is like two "War and Peace" books in it's volume!
@@kardaneg112 Well, the reason these normal kids, except for Rika obviously I don't think she was ever considered to be normal, get in these situations is not just bad luck. It's mostly a drastic lack of communication. If they would just stop and actually talk to each other, most of those situations could be avoided. I mean, just talk to each other and there will be no trigger for the syndrome to ever come into play. Like Keiichi should've just been a real pain in the ass for Rena and Mion and insist they'd tell him about the town's past in Onikakushi. Mion should've just said that she'd really like to have the doll in Watanagashi. If Satoko would've just trusted the adults and her friends and said something about being abused by Teppei, Keiichi would not have any reason to go and beat Teppei to death. Same goes for Rena in Tsumihoroboshi, she has some pretty reliable friends, plus Mion is a Sonozaki and can arrange all sorts of albeit illegal things for her. So, I would say it's mostly lack of communication that puts them in these bad situations.
At the end of the day they’re just traumatized kids some more so than others (Rika). They all want to enjoy their school life and time with their friends and that’s what makes the whole narrative of Higurashi so bittersweet. A superhuman and endlessly powerful will is broken by the ordinary but diligent effort of kids who care about their friends (and a just one timely miracle). higurashi may be a bit more self-contained than the grander narrative of umineko but I like it for its humble quality
