  • The Artifacts of Mount Independence and the Stories They Tell: A series of brief explorations of Revolutionary War artifacts from Mount Independence on Lake Champlain in Orwell, Vermont. Michael Blakeslee, site interpreter at the Vermont State Historic Sites and long-time reenactor, takes a look at some Revolutionary War era bones of wild animals and fishing equipment found in archaeological investigations over the years at the Mount Independence State Historic Site. Did the soldiers hunt and fish, even though they were ordered not to (and why were they ordered not to)? Presented by the Mount Independence State Historic Site, Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, as part of the site's collection stewardship project funded by a grant from the National Park Service American Battlefield Projection Program.
