This brought back memories of when I worked in my uncle's garage back in the early 1970's running his twin Holmes 440 wreckers, both mounted on 1970 GMC K3500s. Great wreckers for towing cars and light trucks and winching vehicles out of the ditch. Those were fun days.
Good video on how to use the sling no nonsense, going to try it out on two full size lifted fords, roads are icy so its hard to turn when i use the wheel lift.
When I first started towing in 1990 the boss put me in a 1981 Chevy same bed and add on electric over hydrologic wheel lift it had 1xx,xxx miles on it when I started and before the boss traded it for a down payment on his first rollback I had put another 475,xxx miles on it I fell in love with operating wreckers and made more money in that old truck than anything else and I enjoyed getting that first call of the day and hated finishing the last one hearing dispatch say your clear you can head home for the night man what I wouldn't give for a day like that right now
That's a nice little tow rig I need to find me one of those one day that or a rollback you don't seem then anymore with the sling since everything is plastic now days but at least it has the wheel lift it sounds like the truck is not running very well needs a good tune up that's for sure
I miss your cold start videos from inside the cab where you showed what you do with the gas pedal to get your vehicles started. Can you make more of those? They’re the best!
The hauler is still functioning but the engine you put in obviously (and definitely hearable!) does not run on all cylinders and therefore smokes a lot.
"Hooking it up, pull it away go get rid of it another day, but not just now, cause I gotta pay, all them old bills that get in the way so I'll jus unhook it, let it stay so long as I have the final say"
Beautiful truck, I have just about the same 480 and it's 4x4 and I use it almost daily. I would post a picture here but I'm not sure how. Careful you will rip your sling apart if you hook up like that.
Nice job! Do you ever find any 77-78 firebirds or trans and for sale down there for under $2000? I’ve been looking for one but they are all rotted out here in CT

You need a solenoid to kick the throttle open some. Higher RPM 'idle' for when the PTO is engaged.
Badass bruh I have an 87 same exact truck love it
I’ve chain slinged accidents but never actually towed with a sling this was cool to watch
I did many a tows in a 1981 version of that truck. Kinda miss driving that old girl.
