So stoked to see the old news footage of Wind & Sea, Sunset Cliffs, South Mission Jetty and of course OB pier, 1502 brothers. Time sure does fly, seems just like a few years ago I was ditching 4th grade at OB elementary to surf the Jetty on a good south swell. Thanks Dave & channel 8 🤙🏼
I love this channel too. Memories coming back to life... remember sitting in my Del Mar Elementary third grade classroom, 2 blocks from the beach, watching the snow fall outside the the windows in December, 1967. And (still living in Del Mar), attending Muirlands and La Jolla High 1972-77... skipping classes to drive with a friend in her VW Beetle to go look for dark navy blue wool sailor pants at Buffalo Breath in PB. Hanging out at the beach (Scripps Pier) every day, all day, in the summer. Those were the days...
@@betsyj59 I haven't heard the name Buffalo Breath since probably 1982-83. Best pair of Levi's ever. Muirlands, so rad! Do you happen to remember the Del Mar foot slides ? And the coolest of all, Tower Records on Sports Arena Boulevard. Devo came and played live because 91X was the newest radio station. Also can't forget KFMB 101.5 and the sky show during the summer after a Padres game at Jack Murphy Stadium. How lucky were we to grow up here in San Diego. Have a great night much aloha
I lived on Santa Cruz in OB in the 90's and the Jetty used to fire. Those rebound A frames that grew over the sandbar were soooo good. This video is classic.
@@mrelmoresmusiclab right on brother, I don't know if you were there for the El Nino of 83 or the El Nino for 97 but before they put that flat drainage in the jetty the bounce wave used to be so perfect. You could ride it all the way from the rebound to the inside to dogs Beach. Not to mention you could actually get real Rock waves that would break against the rocks 3/4 of the way out. We probably shared many sessions together and had no idea. Stay stoked brother I'll see you in the barrel🌊🤙🏻
@@BobbyJetty1502 absolutely, my man. I was living there in 97 for sure and remember that swell no doubt. When that place was on, probably one of the most underrated waves in all of California no doubt. And we definitely shared sessions together. I’ve gotten some of the deepest barrels of my life there, including some of the longest riidrs of my life too. happy new year and keep on crushing it my man. 😎

Fantastic to hear Dave Cohen in action.
1:55 RIP DK. Cool dude.
I'd LOVE to get a new Kneeboard, for $100... How do I get back to 1978?
I love this.

That wasn't Chris O'Rourke smoking a joint was it?
I thought that for a moment myself and I’m still not sure.
That could of been chris. ! ? He would of been WORLD CHAMPION for sure! His surfing was phenomenal! Aloha from Hawaii MK.
Someone else said DK…don’t know who that is
Happy to say this place is just as awesome as it was in 78 as of Google maps today shows it to be.
A simpler time.
