His book is one of the best boxing biography and I’ve read a lot of them. Emmanuel Steward saw the potential in him: Speed, explosiveness, nasty one punch KO power, great chin, heart and clean with his punches.
I personally really DO love Irish Andy Lee. And not just for his boxing skills either. First & foremost though, Andy Lee is an absolute gentleman. Doesn't go around calling out ALL the fighters in his weight category, which I believe is at the 147 lb's division, Welterweight. He's NOT the most naturally gifted fighter you'll see, but he does get the job done. And usually via knockout too!! 😏😷 Just the sheer fact that the legendary Emmanuel Steward took him under his wing & trained him for many years tells you a lot in itself!! To be fighting out of & representing the World 🌎 famous 'Kronk ' gym while still on the early stages of his career shows you that Emmanuel Steward definitely saw 👀 something in this kid. In later years, Steward went on to say that Andy Lee was NOT just another one of his fighters, but that he considered him a true, genuine friend. Watching Andy Lee, it's kinda hard NOT to like 👍 him. He's like Gennady Golovkin in the sense that he's just SO very down to earth, he's polite, respectful to his opponents, always gives his ALL in the ring & he can end a fight with just ONE ☝ punch 👊 & turn ya light's OUT!! 😏 Anyway people, he's a better fighter when under pressure, just like Arturo 'Thunder ' Gatti. Watch Andy Lee Vs John Jackson, who's the son of legendary knockout artist & former World 🌎 Light Middleweight Champion, Julian 'The Hawk ' Jackson. John Jackson came out winging punches, to the head & body of Lee & almost bullied him through the ring ropes with his mauling & aggressive style. Jackson rocked Lee, causing his legs to do a momentary wobble. However, as Jackson had Lee pinned on the ropes, he decided to rush in & end it early. And THAT is exactly what happened. Only, it was Jackson who got caught cold whilst walking 🚶 in to finish. Quite simply, Lee just laid back on the ropes & put ALL his power into a smashing rright hook in the 5th round!! 😏Jackson was OUT cold, unconscious on the mat, his arm folded underneath him, legs spread apart & dribbling & twitching on the canvas in a heap!! 😏 The ref didn't bother counting, as Jackson wouldn't have beat a count of a hundred, let alone 10. He hit the floor face first, & by the time that Jackson DID actually wake up, I believe that his clothes were outta fashion 😏😷. And THAT is what you call a highlight reel knockout. I strongly recommend that y'all watch that particular fight, seriously. You can be absolutely certain that John Jackson doesn't even remember arriving at the arena, let alone the actual fight itself. And just as well, cos he got folded like an old deckchair. His legs were like wet spaghetti. Got laid out like a Turkish rug. Naughty, naughty knockout. So check it out y'all. BIG respect & honour & much love to Irish Andy Lee. Emmanuel Steward definitely knew what he had, but he just had to shape & mould him into the best fighter that he could be. And on that note, I truly believe that Steward definitely succeeded.
Agreed.been a fan since I first seen him in 2004 Olympics.absolute genius and one of the toughest chins in boxing.i feel he's been a bit unlucky the way things panned out for him.just glad he got his hands on a title before retiring.he deserved it.dudes a model pro..
What a fighter. What a gentlemen. Two of the best trainers in the world in his corner, who clearly both loved him. Manny Steward knew what Lee could do. As did Adam Booth. So glad he finally won that world title he deserved
My favourite irish boxer a true warrior in the ring and a gentleman outside of it and also one of the worlds biggest game of thrones fans even had a podcast .
He's a gentleman I love listening to him on off the ball on newstalk. He was a gifted boxer, lethal with both hands and could both pick his shots and get into a dogfight if needed like in the jackson fight
Andy Lee had probably one of the best foot work I've seen in a boxer his position of his feet to create force was amazing and because of that he could sting
Andy Lee? THE Andy Lee? Is it the same Andy that went to school and then took up martial arts? Andy? Lee? This can't be a coincidence. Andy "the brandy drinker" Lee... Well I'll be damned
Saunders needs to follow tyson to the kronk Andy Lee in Billys corner match made in heaven plus they already have the respect of 2 men that fought one and other
I was the 1st person Andy Spared when came to Detroit Great Fighter Good Friend much Respect #Kronk
K9! Big fan of you bro- loved you on the Contender series.

Always a big fan of this Irish man, even when he's fighting Mexicans.
Loved watching Andy. Great action fighter and a gentleman

irish fighters dont get the protection British fighters get. Lee won a world title the hard way
its like watching a scene out of snatch watching this guy. top fighter.

Yeah homies head was there like a pinata to get hit and lit Daniel's
That matt korobov fight really proved that he is never losing even when he is. What a comeback
That carl Daniels ko and Jackson are one of my favorites Andys right hand lands so accurate and timed perfectly. Just super badass.
And both of those ko's were left hooks, he was dangerous with both hands
Yea the daniels one was class he sold him the dummy first

I like Andy lee the way he fought he got perfect combination and timing.humble guy with a warrior heart.
What a fighter. What a gentlemen. Two of the best trainers in the world in his corner, who clearly both loved him. Manny Steward knew what Lee could do. As did Adam Booth. So glad he finally won that world title he deserved

Whenever he fought I’d always try to watch the match. Always exciting and he had some killer power and well placed shots.
Hard as a coffin nail and what a trainer he's shaping up to be ...Parker never looked so good ..☘🥊
Just watch how fast he reset his hands after throwing a punch. It's like his arms are springs.
Fabulous lee, very entertaining…what a left hook.
I thing this man has a power shoot in left hand. But after 3rd KO. This man has a power punch both hands.

Andy Lee? THE Andy Lee? Is it the same Andy that went to school and then took up martial arts? Andy? Lee? This can't be a coincidence. Andy "the brandy drinker" Lee... Well I'll be damned

No it's illegal.
