  • 120,000 Stories presents a fascinating conversation between Nobuko Miyamoto, a legendary Asian American singer, songwriter, and activist, and ethnomusicologist Dr. Deborah Wong, a scholar of Asian American culture and Miyamoto's longtime collaborator. The two women focus on Miyamoto's life story, from her captivity in the Japanese internment camps of World War II to her role as an advocate for environmental activism and social justice. The event features performances from Miyamoto's recent album 120,000 Stories (Smithsonian Folkways Recordings) and an excerpt from Miyamoto's upcoming memoir Not Yo' Butterfly (UC Press).
