Angela Bassett kinda looks like Ann Peebles.
William Brown and sounds like her too.
Agreed... Ase'
They look like twins
I don't know about twins but cousins perhaps
Tina Turner covered the song its on private Dancer
way more people should know about ann peebles!
Stewart i cover a lot of her music with my band
True.but a lot of late 90's Early 2000 kids wouldn't have known of her without Missy Elliot
Stewart Brodie True. I just learned of her tonight.
Agree. 100% 19.3.2020
Yup she's a down south cutie
Ms. Peebles has aged like fine wine - Wow!
Yea, she gotta be in her 70s right, or older.
Nah....SHE HASN'T AGED AT ALL!🤯🤯WOW!
Beautiful and so talented!!
I know her royalties are sitting nice with Missy Elliot revitalizing it. Supa Dupa Fly is a classic. The way Missy and Timbaland sampled it was dope. Ann was really ahead of her time with this.
Precious Wilson and the eruptions version was a massive hit in the UK and jamaica
*I hope so!*
Next, I bought her I an't Stand The Rain album on vinyl *twice* and both times they were warped. The only song on the album that skipped was the one on the title.
I'm only mentioning this because of the royalties. Along with they're re-releasing her album(s) and leaving folks livid AF! She's probably not even getting paid for the re-releases.
Anyway, other than that. Her entire album makes me cry 😢 😭! If your album doesn't move me *trash* 🗑.
It all depends on her contract. Some artists--for example--are contract employees. They get a paycheck weekly, bi-weekly, monthly. They get this same amount regardless of how well or bad their singles albums do. However, the contract can be anything both parties agree to and is long as it doesn't conflict with local and federal laws. So it is all about what is agreed to. Nonetheless, I hope she negotiated ongoing earnings for her work.
Tina Turner, humble pie , seal, eruption all covered this song as well.....
@DustyD-vv8xb Tina too❤❤❤
I KNOW SHE HAD A STROKE IN 2012,SO I REALLY HOPE SHE'S DOING BETTER IN 2018.GOD BLESS YOU ANN PEEBLES.
And now it's July 2024 I think Ann Peebles is still alive😊.
@@Snezanah AS OF TODAY,7-1-2024,SHE'S STILL ALIVE AND THANKS.
Don’t know how old this interview is but she looks darn good!
You can tell it's from the 80s cause she wearing shoulder pads😉jk
@@zayshabazz3326 great eyes for details. Do you realize that many people would have never thought about that. 👍😊
@@zayshabazz3326 It doesnt look that old though, It could reasonably be from the 90s or even 2000s from this quality of film. Alot of clothing meant for older women still has shoulder pads in the design especially church clothes.
@@KiDoesMusic I love shoulder pads
she was about 69 doing this interview, great singer
69?! She looks amazing!
YOURE LYING!
@@angelofdeath275 do the math
How old is she now ?
@@matrix8750 born in 1947, she is 72
Ann Peebles- beautiful eyes, skin, talent, spirit.
Ann Peebles looks good!
The Willie that she mentions is Willie Mitchell, Al Green's producer. That why this song sounds as if Al Green sings it.
Tom Smith Makes sense.
Facts. Al Green all through that song.
Wow! Yep!
Totally make sene... when i heard it I was like Al Green would kill this song.
The 1st time I rediscovered this song for myself as an adult I instantly created a rumor. Before the second line of the chorus begin I was like "You know she was one of Al Green's back-up singers don't you!" (my friend was like yep yep😏)
She is the only singer i believe does this song justice.
Graham Central Station featuring Patrice "Chocolate" Banks did a good job with it too.
Cynthia Brown Nobody touches Ann’s version, but I heard a live version of Tina Turner doing it justice. Their voices are kind of similar.
@@deshaunx776 i agree.
Cynthia Brown you never heard Al Green, he did well also. I never knew she sang it.
@@lorebay2593 Al is cool👌.
That’s my great auntie 😭 soooo proud
I love the original version by her. I also love the version by Tina Turner and a sampled by Missy Elliott Supa dupa fly
Yep. Missy's version is fun...and she sings to
I just learned Tina Turner performed the song also, and I cannot stop listening to it
My cousin😍
Shes a great. Bravissimo
That’s awesome
Briona Hamilton do you sing? Would love to collaborate with you on a new soul CD.
King Alpha sounds legit.
Really
of all the artists who have covered this beautiful song, NOBODY can touch you..you're a legend in my house
Ann Peebles, Willie Mitchell and Hi Rhythm, an unbeatable combination.
No one sings this song like Ms. Peebles. I remember this song from ‘73, always loved it. I did listen to it by some other artists, and sorry, they can’t hold a candle to her.
A beautiful lady ❤️ and my family
How old was she here? Her skin is amazing (for any age).
I sure I wish I grew up in the time of woman like this. She emits pure class, style and grace. Now compare her to today.
Loved her when I was a kid. My uncle would play this at the house parties and BBQs such great times for me.
I love her deep velvety speaking voice.
She's so beautiful! I love how she speaks and her ways.
I like Ann people she's has a beautiful voice
that song IS MAGIC!
She seems so ... Normal .
After the pedestal I had her on, this is like culture shock , but she still a Queen
Big Ed She's humble, which is a treat. Just like her singing, real and unpretentious.
One of the greatest songs ever
Oh, and equally as great Imo there's " i m gonna tear your playhouse down" : soul at its best
Love her
...and it’s 1 hell of a song. Amazing story. Amazing song.
Wow she looks like Angela Bassett. And sounded like Tina Turner what a coecidence. Classic Song.
Miss Peebles' vocal on this song really has the feeling! Add Willie Mitchell's HI Records band at American Sound Studios in Memphis (not Stax, not Sun)....equals a classic!
Ann Peebles performed and wrote one of the best, MOST underrated songs EVER. It is just incredible.
I just rediscovered this song I heard as a little girl on Spotify. The original version by THE Ann Peebles is my favorite, but Tina Turner did it well too! It is just a fantastic song! I guarantee once you hear it, you will want to put it on repeat 100 times!!!

Beautiful. She reminds me of Pam (Tichina) from “Martin.”
Ann is the other Queen of Soul
One of the best songs ever.
This is just one of many classic tunes that Ann co-wrote and recorded for an amazing catalogue of 1970s work. It's a crime this lady doesn't seem to be celebrated among the true soul greats.
Great song. Classy lady
That is such a catchy song. Genius!

This is beautiful. Thank you for capturing this. I happened on Ann singing the song. Had no idea she wrote it or who she was. I knew Tina’s bersion. But this version this song hit me like a tornado all the sudden I was in it....just so perfect. ❤️ Can’t stop listening.
Beautiful Lady , Incredible Artist ....Legend
She is one of my favorites, I love that song and how she sings it. I actually chased down the sheet music for it back in 1980 so I could sing it. Such a big beautiful voice.
u are still very beautiful and u created a classic so many people have sampled
Great songs are usually written in this fashion! One of the best..
i ♥️ her
It’s perfect. Will be played at my funeral. Seriously!!!!! It’s on the list!!
She also sang the song "Troubles, Heartaches, and Sadness" That song got life again when the movie 3 Days To Kill was released. When the song came on, I was the only person in the theater to yell out Ann Peebles name. The next thing I knew, everyone had their phones out Googling her and that song. It's amazing how good music never dies. Troubles, Heartaches, And Sadness is from 1972... 50 years ago... And is STILL a fantastic song sang by a fantastic singer. Thank you Ms. Peebles 🥰
Love how life gives you ..LIFE
Black don't crack. She's beautiful.
This songs a classic 💯
Beautiful voice, beautiful lady. ❤
