Great vid as per usual. I'm a sucker for genre analysis. And ironically I'm playing WoW precisely BECAUSE its cozy and familiar. Legends and Lattes sounds like the kind of pleasant read to sort of reset your brain after consuming a massive epic saga. May have to pull the trigger on it and check it out!
My first novel is with my editor right now, releasing hopefully august and it’s been said to read like the hobbit and be cozy, I didn’t intend the cozy part hahah
I think imo your kinda way off on your timeline. The Cozy Fantasy genre started in 2001 when Café de l'Amour, by NSyncGrrl came out. This was when Coffeeshop aus became a thing. And for original fiction, you have cooking and 4koma spinoffs of anime, and indeed most cooking isekai is cozy fantasy., and of course VA1-HALL-A Legends and Lattes is if anything a late adopter to a genre that was already in picture and derivative works. Hell I have on my shelf a RPG with rules for how to make your high fantasy coffee shop that came out in 2021.
@Karamazov9 Nope. Not because a hire is non-white. It's that the person is hired because he is non-white, all other considerations being secondary, if considered at all.

That’s how I felt about it too, picked it up after finishing Julius Caesar’s commentaries, needed something light lol
Never heard of this genre until now. It'd be funny if they named a sequel Dungeons and Decaf.
Actually...Travis DID make a sequel (or rather a prequel) and dubbed it Bookshops & Bonedust
"A Christmas Lord of the Rings Marathon"
Isn't that just self mutilation with extra steps?
Very impressed with this video. Good job, I’m going to have to check out the book!
Bought on your recommendation for a gift. Hopefully it gets here in time 🎅🤞
Aww well i hope the recipient enjoys it!
Sounds a lot like a Lifetime movie in a fantasy setting.
Anodyne, commercial, unchallenging? Yeah, exactly.
Thanks for the recommendation :)

If what you say is true, what was the first Cozy Fantasy book of that year
Slice-of-Life and it's consequences have been a disaster for humanity.
Sounds boring as (a popular expletive). It's like a book written by some diversity hire at WotC with a battalion of sensitivity readers.
I don’t like cozy fantasy but the wording of your comment seems like you have some resentment toward women and people who aren’t white
It just sounds like a slice of life story

@@TheRoleplayer40k that's the feel I get. Feels more like a new term for an old concept.
