Koa's one from 5 years ago, is still the best - the drone footage is superb - similar; no waffle - just a basic sound track like this and an unbelievable single wave with 8 barrels on the wave.
This place is just nuts. It's a freight train pushing this insane long tube. But to make it even crazier is how remote it is. It's just as wild as a place you good find. Takes days to get there. Love to see new footage and know that it's still there . RLTW 3/75
Very special song. I think many people have a story about this song. First time I heard it I was 20 years old.... I was travelling with a guy I met from Amsterdam (I am from Australia). We became great friends while studying in Montreal, we decided to go to the USA together, rented a van and took on California whilst living in a van.... He played this track on the open road, as we took on Highway 1, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, we kept coming back to this song the whole trip whilst smoking cigarettes and driving into sunsets
Wow, fantastic video, amazing waves, breathtaking barrels, tremendous skills, captivating footage, no words needed. This is the whole package. Thank you for the share!
Skeleton Bay ( aka Donkey Bay ) is a pretty fickle wave which needs certain specific conditions starting with a cold from off Cape Town when big swells start stampeding up the west coast of Africa from the Antarctic . This swell lasted about 8 days . On the weekend there were 45 4x4's on the beach . This particular day looks like 2 or three
WOW !!! 🤩🔥🔥🔥 🌊🌊🌊This is PERFECTION ! 🙌🤟 It's so perfect that it looks unreal. Every wave riders want to surf these kind of perfect waves at least once in their life 😀🤪😎👌 Thank you so much for sharing all your magic moments Nic 🙏. You are my favorite free surfer. Always at the right place at the right time ✌👏👏👏 Thanks to the drone pilot Mendo Dornelas who showed us the different perspectives of the spot. Bravo ! 👏👏👏 Superb footage 👍 Now I would like to see all the Go Pro footage😁😇😜
Thanks for showing the angles of the way this wave breaks. It looks like the curl travels left along the wave back out toward the bay while the wave itself moves along the shore at an angle close to 45 degrees.
Wow..Incredible footage Nic...Great job ...spectacular rides ..once in a lifetime when all the elements come together....your in the right place at the right time.....keep finding perfect waves ....Greg

GOD creating the forces of nature that creates mass particle migration that creates a sandbar ledge that allows swell to break in this way, creating moving rooms with 5 of 6 sides made of salt water and the remaining side open to steer and navigate .. an incredible gift for those who embrace motion and g-forces, the ocean and physical exertion .. and the sensation of getting ridiculously barreled !! most people would actually be sore after one ride if they make it all the way. Squatting in a barrel for 1 minute straight is actually really taxing. the walk is nothing
@@jakedavid2523 surfed pavones and that other point nearby (no where near as long) on a few really good days. No barrels but knees felt like noodles after a while! My knees got tired watching this lol.
@@datapusher- haha sounds epic! after a long session when my local point breaks are going off, my legs get so sore. Probably because its only that good a handful of times
When to surf Skeleton Bay? The best time of year for surfing Skeleton Bay with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is during Winter and most often the month of June. Clean surfable waves are typically found 16% of the time in June while 80% of the time it tends to be blown out
Really hard, I'm an intermediate surfer and for every 8 takeoffs I only make one successful drop. Then sections of the wave speeding up, even closing out makes it really difficult to stay on the wave. I'm a local and saw a couple of SA surfers in the past not being able to catch a single wave. This wave is extremely deceiving, looks way easier then it should.
@@gustavomarques704 you paddle around if you fall, the wave goes for so long that the lineup just extends for the length of the wave. But if you really want a long ride... You walk.
No words spoken.
No fancy intro of any sort.
Best surf edit in a long, long time.
Thanks for sharing man.
Can only imagine what it feels like!
a bit of counter culture.. you dont like a nice movie?

This is just mindblown 🤯🔥
It was even better than it looks
great choice of music, it adds, instead of detracts from the mood/spectacle of the surf.
