Football in Japan: X Bowl 34 (2020)

- The X-League is the highest level of football in Japan, and the highest level outside of North America. Football in Japan has a history stretching back to the 1930s, and Japan always does well in intercontinental play (such as the World Cup of American Football, or games between X-League teams and German teams).
In this video you'll be able to see the championship of the X-League in 2020, the 34th X-Bowl. The game was played on December 15th 2020, with kickoff at 7PM local time. The game was live on NHK BS1 and took place in the Tokyo Dome.
The two teams facing off were the #1 Fujitsu Frontiers and #2 Obic Seagulls. Among the players are RB Taku Lee, #29 RB for the Obic Seagulls, who had a prolific game. He is currently in the NFL International Player Pathway program with a shot at playing in the NFL this upcoming season.

Never thought other countries would be interested in football to the point of forming leagues. Amazing
Just read eyeshield 21 manga. This manga tells of high school students playing american football in to the world cup. It released in 2002. It means american football been popular ever since in Japan
Seeing other countries play (American) football is always the coolest thing to see!
Small attendance

If the captions were in English
Imagine one day international championships… USA vs Germany, Japan vs France etc. American Football is growing everywhere exponentially!
it's already a thing
@@guided3493not yet. Right now only some countries are hosting the NFL but they haven’t a good enough team to play against us.
@@Buttsceatcgee well, clearly you haven't heard of the IFAF World Championship. But yes, even with the US teams fielding mostly college washout scrubs, they still dominate other teams so much that team Japan scoring twice on them in the championship game made them look positively superhuman.
@@doradohiep8039 Japan is not there yet either but they are possibly better than Europe just because they’ve been having american football teams in their country for many years. I really do hope Japan competes in the NFL soon.
Europe is barely starting teams in some countries lol. So they’re still a long way before they’re good and worth competing with.
@@doradohiep8039 and yes i have heard of IFAF world championship. That’s why i was watching this video. But I’m talking about the NFL which is hosted by some countries and is bigger than IFAF.
NICE to see that the American NFL style football,
is being played All over the World now.
In Canada, Europe and Asia too.
The NFL will be in Germany this November. And i been seeing tons of vids of how Germany is gravitating more towards it. So I surmise by the end of this decade we're gonna start seeing the NFL stretch out to allow leagues outside the US. Like how we have the AFC and NFC. We may see an EFC(Europe) pop up..

Canada has had its own league called the cfl which has its own rule set and I believe it's older than the nfl. I could be wrong
football is a canadian sport, it was made in canada, same as basketball. Americans biggest sports are just canadian sports.
Still agree its cool to see it in japan
Japan has had this league for over 30 years. It's actually pretty successful for what it is.
Very cool! Great plays, great sportsmanship, and great game.
I graduated from a D.O.D. high school in Tokyo in 1975. We began playing a local Japanese high school football team. With the drawdown of the US military, several Department of Defense high schools closed down. In order to fill up the schedule, games were scheduled against smaller Japanese college football teams. As the US forces drawdown continued through the next few decades, without enough schools to play a season, games began to be scheduled with schools at military bases in northern Japan, Okinawa, South Korea, Guam.... Up until 1975, there were enough schools around, Yokosuka and Tokyo, that it was just a bus ride to the games. Then in 1975, the all Japan D.O.D. high school Championship was held. My alma mater Yokota High School vs a combined All Star team from Okinawa in the initial high school Ric
e Bowl game.
can you post more japanese football games? this is the only channel that really has them!
Came down to the last play
Japanese Football is CRAZY
The japanese actually play REALLY GOOD football, from what i understand its based on NCAA rules.
Japan got this
Pretty damm entertaining
I love it watched the whole game was great
This is dope
man that last play was so close, they almost scored that winning touchdown, what a close finish to the last play of the game I like it.
Bro said, "Arigato" xD
God bless y'all
That music sounds like anime 😂
I bet money on this game still living off the winnings god bless Japan 🙏🏻
Haha! How much did you win and what platform did you bet on?
450k I went all in and said why not best decision I made if there’s one thing I can tell you is trust your guy and it was a under the table kinda thing 😅
whats with the plastic films in the players facemasks, im not talking about any visors btw, these are in the lower part of the mask? Any specific reason?
This game took place at the height of the Covid19 epidemic, so my best guess is that it's plastic film meant to function as a face mask of sorts. Not sure it would pass as a medical face mask, but more of a symbolic one perhaps ;-)
Finally refs who do their job fairly and no rigged match like the NFL
Yoroshiku onegai shimasu!
Good
Footboll japan the bes i like
The coaches seem to both have a woman shadowing them? Is she some kind of assistant
Translators. Each team is allowed a maximum of two foreign players.
Japanese football.
NFL VS EPL
American football in the Olympics would be dope but don't let USA play cause it wouldn't be fair at all lol except if they only let college players play. If they let the best NFL players play the games would be 50-0
Nobody in the NFL would play for fear of injuries. No college players with a chance of making it to the league would play either. Team USA would most likely have to fight for every win, best case scenario.
@@jarmonmarmon7698 not d1 players but even D2 players could probably beat every single other country. If was the best NFL players it wouldn't be fair at all
I think it would actually be already fair if they woud just instaure doping controls for the olympics
Jesus their hash is so wide
refs on point

You better add some English subtitles so that other people can understand and watch this not only Japanese people
