There is more to being a basketball player than being a scorer. Tatum's shooting was way too streaky this year, but he has become a very good playmaker, gets almost double-digit boards every game and can defend 1-4 well. Luka is a better player than Tatum but its not by much. Tatum is a superior rebounder and defender, he's always in shape and he rarely misses a game. Luka is a remarkably skilled player but he needs to dedicate himself harder to his conditioning. The Celtics attacked him on D all series long and in the 5th game it showed. I understand Luka was dealing with some minor injuries, but he looked completely gassed out there. That's pretty embarrassing in an elimination game.
Tatum is better than Luka at Basketball. Period. Better at everything. His 3 ball was off...That's it. Luka's whole gm was off. Stat padding
@@Chrism7178 Look, I'm a Celtics fan so I want to agree with you, I'm just not there (yet). I'm interested to see how JT looks next year now that the burden of not winning a title is off his shoulders. I think he can still take his game to another level and I would not be shocked to see him finish in the top 3 voting of the MVP race next year.

Tatum qua drawing 3-4 defenders and using his gravity to make the right plays... we let luka look"good" and made everyone else look bad... Tatum is a better player.. a more versatile scorer, and a scorer that requires more defensive attention.. The deifniton of better,.
Jayson Tatum being mentioned in the top 10 of today’s NBA players is ridiculous. That was a horrendous take by you and you rarely have them. There is no way you can argue that he is top 10 or even top 15 to me and sound credible. Folks are more enamored with the idea of what Jayson Tatum could be as opposed to what he’s actually been.

Tatum is great he's definitely a star but I doubt at this point he'll ever be superstar level. He's better than any role player in the league but he'll never be a LeBron,KD, Giannis, Kawhi, Jokic, or Luka level player. He'll never be the kind of player to take a team with low talent deep into the playoffs. He is however good enough that if he has semi decent talent his team will likely be an above.500 team. That's literally the best way to explain Jayson Tatum.

Jason Tatum is an annual NBA All Star and an annual All NBA Team member... one of the Top 10 players in the NBA.

@DevonHill-cf4bs the Celtics were good the yr before and yr of Tatum being drafted. Tatum has always had an all-star team mate in jaylen brown since he's been in the league. The best Luka had before Kyrie was brunson before brunson was who he is now. Luka has 5 all-star appearances which is tied with Tatum despite Tatum being in the league longer. Luka has 5 all NBA first team selections to Tatums 2. Luka has a ROTY award. Luka just became a scoring champion. Accolades don't lie. If Tatum doesn't play Boston still wins if Luka doesn't play the mavericks probably lose. If Tatum wins an NBA championship and finals MVP most people will still consider Luka better. Tatum has a history of choking every post season which is why Celtics are lucky they got the easiest path to the finals literally ever. If Celtics were playing Denver or Minnesota in the finals I guarantee the series would not be going their way. Your probably a casual NBA fan though so it's okay if you have an incorrect opinion
1. I have always said Luka should be at the F position, let him be a Larry Bird. Bird didn't control the ball, yet avgd 25+ ppg 10+ rpg 6+ apg. It's good him & Kyrie worked out, but if Hardaway is better coming off bench, then they need another guard to fill in SG position, let Kyrie set up & score, Luka is still 1st option.
Tatum is a good player, but Celtics have a stacked team. Tatum, Brown, Porzingas, Holiday, all have been all stars & made all NBA or Defense teams. So quite honestly, if they didn't win, it would be the biggest failure ever.
As for Giannis, he was the one pushing for Dame, push Bute out, Adrian in & then out. When is he gonna get criticized for his BS?
It doesn't matter what position Luka plays cause the entire playoffs is bring the guy you want to defend into Pick and Roll and get the switch you want. This is all playoff basketball is now. Luka can defend KP/Tatum/Holiday/Horford/Brown/White and no matter what there will be a pick and roll that forces him the guard who the other teams wants. Luka literally does that too everytime he sees a weaker defender on the celtics. Its what they do. Doesn't matter who he defends now

I would say the Miami Heat.
Knicks is the easiest answer. They are one of the only teams that can give enough picks back without ruining their core. He would prefer not to go to the West (too stacked), and go to a team that can keep a strong role player group after. The Knicks have Randle to match salaries and all their first round picks. They are the favorite if Giannis asks out. Its also not far from where he has been and one of the biggest markets
Nah Giannis will come to Toronto he has a connection to Masai and he has a huge Greek community that would support him. He's not a big market guy so New York won't be appealing for that reason. Toronto is a big market but more low key more international players feel comfortable here.

People just don't know basketball. This was Tatum's best year even with the in efficiency. He made all the right reads when his shot was not falling and a selfish scorer would have lost with these teammates. Luckily he has made huge strides in his playmaking and it reflects in Tatum averaging more assists in Finals than Luka.

I know mavs fans would easily wish back brunson for kyrie esp the pace lively, gafford n exum have been keeping up. Brunson is perfect for those 3 when luka is off the floor not to mention hardaway. They would've swept the celtics with brunson still in dallas esp wit what they offered him n what they traded at the deadline. If scoring is the only barometer of a good player than ya Tatum can never be a superstar but being a versatile offensive player with the ability to defend, rebound at a high level and have some great passing games then it shouldn't be a problem plus he isn't even in his prime yet.
Scoring is the number one important thing for a teams “first option” and superstar luckily the Celtics so stacked they can still win with him throwing up offensive stinkers
