  • Work in progress after the layout being in storage for 15 plus years. Can finally pull a few cars. Replaced the old couple I had on one end of one of the box cars and left the original Rapido coupler on the other end and hook up some cars. Ran the train up and around the 4x6 layout

      Thank you. The last video I did a few days ago is of the track plan

    Add 2 change of tracks in the other direction and you can use all tracks and chance direction in both directions. So it is not really perfect.

    I built this layout in 1994. I stripped it down a year ago and currently rebuiding with a winter scene

    I had this exact plan up and running but I pulled it apart as it was damned heavy to lug around, still love it though !!

      It is a nice layout. I'm thinking about expanding it. At least add a back drop to it

    This was the layout plan that I started to build back in the late 70's. I still have the magazine from Atlas with the layout in it. I love it

    Does the grade give you any trouble?

    • @Glenn1962
      @Glenn1962  3 роки тому

      Since the layout is smaller I run shorter trains and they don't have any issues going up either grades. The coal train is 11 cars long and that goes up the grades fine. If I add another 5 or 6 cars to the train then they will start to have issues with the grades.

      When I built this I got the plan from an Atlas plan magazine which I still have. I'll see if I can scan it and upload it here

      @@Glenn1962 thanks mate appreciated. Is it possible to run multiple trains in opposite directions with relative ease?

    • @Glenn1962
      @Glenn1962  3 роки тому +1

      @@garypatterson9593 It is. I can run four trains at the same time but on the second level I need to watch closely because of the crossovers I have there.
      Not sure if you have seen this but here is a video of three trains running.

      @@Glenn1962 thanks that answers few questions. I can see how the crossing could be problematic and forces short train lengths. With a bit of planning thought and expanding the overall dimensions the crossing could be eliminated and create another over/underpass. Thanks for showing this great work.

      @@garypatterson9593 thank you. I have seen someone else do this layout but on a bigger scale that took out the crossovers and put in an under and over pass like you mentioned.
