      Considering that I was at 1200 or so subscribers last month I couldn’t be happier that people are finally seeing all of it. It’s never been about the money but there is some coming in now that may let me get a bit more extravagant with future projects :)

    Aaah... I suspect Mr. Swann's kit? :) Right now I am in a queue to get a PC-10 converter so I can use a Zapper and plug in NES controllers. They have a 3D printable file of the PC-10 holster and a holder for your NES controller. I love NES games on arcades, but some games translate poorly to arcade controls. Some like Dr. Mario and Tengen Tetris translate well!
    I have two of the sealed black rubber Nintendo guns for my PC-10. Sadly, neither work and they are considered unrepairable. They do register the shot when you hit the trigger, but the screen doesn't see the hit.

    • @tcurtis49
      @tcurtis49  Місяць тому +1

      I'm not sure where the kit design originated, but I got it from highscoresave.com. Seems like there should be some way to make the guns work. My gun on my PC10 does not work with the dark tinted plexiglass in the way but does with it removed. So they are definitely finicky.

    Awesome modification! It was interesting that you mentioned in the Nintendo Red Tent restore video that it was rumored these were made for Pizza Hut... because that is the only place I ever remember seeing one of these in Maine. It could be the case Pizza Hut got them because they were low profile and it fit their 80s/90s motif so well.

    • @tcurtis49

      I don't think we had one in our Pizza Hut but I've heard that from many people. The only one I ever saw was in an arcade while on vacation in Tennessee. But I would imagine they fit well into the overall scheme at Pizza Huts, for sure!

    You know what would be awesome? You should make weekly restoration videos of an arcade machine, rather than uploading 1 huge video after months. That may be impossible though if you're working as an orthodontist still. That is my dream though. Your videos are so entertaining. I have several arcade machines and they're always having problems, I wish you were my neighbor LOL

    • @tcurtis49
      @tcurtis49  6 місяців тому +2

      It would be great to do something interesting each week, and there are a lot of small things I do that I don’t record or feel would make a good video here and there. I’ve spent so much time trying to repair a Battlezone board that suddenly stopped working. To the point of buying an oscilloscope and working with a bunch of experts on the forums. I’ve learned so much even as fixing one thing leads to another. And then I finally had to wave the white flag and send it to the expert, who is also now challenged in his own way. But I don’t know in advance that it’s going to be epic and crazy…
      I do have a lot of footage from previous restorations that can make for shorter retrospective videos. I will likely do that. I typically get 1 or 2 crazy projects each year, and a few others that I fix up but aren’t that hard. So I will try to show some of those since I now have a bunch of subscribers (quite suddenly) and am just starting the next “epic” restoration. And if you watch the seasons change on my other videos you know I take my time :)

      I was never sure whether the glitches were problems with my multigame kit or more with my red tent itself. You can reprogram the games and sometime I’ll try a few variations to try to track them down. I’ve heard Balloon Fight is a great cross-screen game so I’ll make sure I at least get that into a spot it will work.

    Love your videos Tod. I think youre going to grow like crazy on UA-cam. Any advice for someone who's trying to get into a bit of arcade collecting? So far I've been looking through Facebook marketplace but a lot of it is just crappy mame cabs.

    • @tcurtis49
      @tcurtis49  6 місяців тому +2

      I'd look for a FB group of collectors in your area. Here we have one for Hoosiers, one for Kentucky, and one for the Midwest. The people in those groups are good at trading/selling project cabinets that they just don't have time for. FB Marketplace will occasionally have some gems but that's not as likely as it used to be. Start with a game that you know that just needs some TLC and get an idea of how it works. The forums at Museum of The Game (KLOV) also have a lot of helpful people (forums.arcade-museum.com/). Good luck!

      There are not very many Red Tents or Dual-screen Vs Systems out there, unfortunately. It’s kind of surprising Nintendo made that amount of effort to get these games to work like that given the low production. But definitely a really cool system. The Playchoice 10 is similar and better supported with larger multigame setups.
