- Josh Allen is making his dream come true: Developing a nursery and botanic garden specializing in rare succulents and cycads. “There’s a big market for beautiful, hard-to-find plants,” he says, adding that creating new hybrids and "playing with plant genetics" are what he does best. Josh especially enjoys Aloe hybridizing and the “purposeful breeding” of rare and desirable species.

I would be interested to know if there are some smaller aloes that would work in containers. I’m in Rancho Bernardo and our summers are quite toasty.
Hi Liz, You're in luck, North San Diego is THE Mecca for ornamental small aloes perfect for containers. Oasis Water Efficient Gardens nursery in north Escondido has a great selection. how does he keep bermuda grass and weeds away?
Maybe the same way I do...I apply a pre-emergent herbicide to bare soil before winter storms to stop weed seeds from germinating. One brand is Preen amzn.to/42PPj8k (affiliate link). Hey Josh, if you see this, would you reply?
