I have been pointing this out for a while now. It seems all these reviewers are glossing over it. A few years ago at an autoshow I sat in the Rogue and an Lexus NX... I left the Rogue feeling like it was as nice, as well as the CX-5. Honestly I like those better as they actually had stitched dashes.
TFL, can you talk to Nissan engineers and have them explain how they tested this vehicle and special considerations during development made for reliability? I’d also love an in-depth explanation and review of the undercarriage and suspension.
Awesome job Roman & TFL!! Getting to the point manufacturers are directly taking your own advice into account with the final product of their vehicles!! Something to be proud of Roman!! 😊😊
No question all cars and trucks are priced too high however that being said …when you compare this against Ford, GM, Toyota etc. Nissan has really delivered a full “American” sized and well appointed SUV. Drive it…you will be impressed. Pricing has become all relative - and this one is worth adopting.
Maybe put all the off road goodies of the Pro4X, without all the unnecessary luxury, Pro4X base model. No sunroof, no leather seats, 18 inch wheels instead of 20, removed interior camera(s), vinyl/plastic floors instead of carpet, etc
The cameras are for detecting driver distractions, so when it sees that you are not looking at the road it will warn you, then if you still are not looking it disables cruise control and lane keeping features to force you to resume control. It’s a legal thing they have to do as part of gov’t regulations and lawyer CYA to make you responsible for any accidents while using those features, even if they were caused by the feature malfunctioning as you should be able to override any malfunctions before they cause an accident
You’re all joking right? Why would you want captains chairs with the Pro 4X? The whole point of this trim is for off-roading, camping, etc. So, having a bench that you can fold flat is actually better than captains chairs.
I know that you guys do a lot of Ford trucks but I'd love to see a comparison between a maxed out top spec Expedition and a more basic entry level Lincoln Navigator.

It’s priced competitively with what is out there. The cost is the cost. Get over it!! If you can’t afford it that’s life. Time to go for more, work or income and so on. The Armada was always Fricking expensive. It had been competitively priced all along. It’s priced better than the Tahoe Z71. That’s a fact!! Tommy, you were looking silly and YES, there were many comments that the original pricing on the Maverick was way too high. It’s definitely a very nice product that I would never buy, because I want the Tahoe Diesel if I buy another one. Had a Premier diesel and loved it, but it was too car like. The Z71 is the way to go!! That’s well over $80K with the premium off-road package with air suspension etc. Not reall6 overpriced, just unfortunately a Nissan that’s in trouble. 😊😊
Gotta' remember the market. No one buying in this price range cares about a solid rear axle. Nissan sold more Armadas than Sequoias and Land Cruisers combined most years when the 200 series Land Cruiser was still being sold here. In 2024 the Sequoia did better but it was the first time since 2009. The Land Cruiser was discontinued because sales were truly awful. As enthusiasts we think certain things matter but a manufacturer only cares about the initial buyer and solid axles make for a rougher ride and that's what these things are all about. Smooth, quiet, huge capability for towing a boat or toys and hauling people and showing off. The Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition both destroy the Sequoia and Armada in sales and they are also independent rear suspension because that's what buyers in this market want. Besides, outside of modifications watch videos of Aussie Patrols and they go anywhere and do anything the Land Cruiser does. So do Defenders and Range Rovers when their owners are crazy enough to put them at risk.
Tommy has built a narrative in his mind which is the same one which allows brands like Lexus and Land Rover as well as Infiniti to charge extreme amounts of money for pretty much the same vehicle sold a far lower price points. Lexus is Premium and Toyota is not. Infiniti is Premium and Nissan is not. Why? The QX and Armada share exactly the same engine, transmission drive train and interior features but the Armada is $30,000 less. I'd say while still extremely expensive the Armada is a steal versus the QX. The Lexus LX 570 gets to around $115,000 and is essentially the same vehicle as the Toyota Sequoia Capstone for $85 to $90,000. Sounds likes a $25 to $30,000 discount to me for a badge. A Land Rover Discovery does everything a a Range Rover will do and the Defender while premium price is hardly a premium product as far as materials, construction and reliability are concerned. But you build a story in you mind and you ignore reality. This is what marketing departments know and depend on. Roman and Tommy both agree that few if any first buyers are taking even the PRO4-X on any serious trails but then Tommy says, this is the one you want with the locker and all. No, Tom, almost no one buying the thing even knows what a locker is much less will ever use it. Off road image sells vehicles. Off road capability is meaningless to most in the high priced new SUV market.
The exterior looks nice those buttons for the drive modes are abysmal, why not just do a column shifter and they could have kept that big giant center console design.
This is no more expensive than the competition. And I think you're getting a more luxurious product that the rest, except for maybe the Yukon AT4... which starts at $95k. The Armada seems to strike a perfect balance... it reminds me of the premium lux feel of Land Cruisers of yore and while not as large as the Americans, it has good space inside and can fit adults in all rows. I do agree that the entire car market is $10k too expensive, but at today's pricing, this is priced properly.
Not for nuthin, but $80K is just too d*mn much. Admittedly, it seems nearly all SUV makers are asking ridiculous prices for their products. In what universe is a Jeep Wagoneer worth $122K!!!??? Nissan is high, but not as high as others. However, with no V8 and way too much electronic wizardry to fail, this is NOT an off-road vehicle for most. So, I am more interested in its' suitability to replace the ever more expensive Chevy Suburban and GMC Yukon/XL. The determining factor other than price is how it manages to eat up road miles, reliability, towing manners, comfort and fuel mileage. After all, that is what this vehicle will actually be used for by most. I had a Gen 1 Armada that I loved. It had some issues. Namely lots of squeaks and rattles and the seats were almost cripplingly uncomfortable for long hours of highway use. But the powertrain and the ability to almost completely shrug off snow covered surfaces with ease were second to none. I have high hopes for this version.
Nice except for the gauges I will not buy it for that alone. I’ll buy the 24 instead unless they put this motor in the a frontier xd that would be fun .
As far as Tommy’s shock about an $80,000 price tag for a Nissan, it shouldn’t matter. If they have given customers equal amounts of value as every other manufacturer than they should be able to price it accordingly. However this is not to say that I agree with what manufacturers as a whole are charging for these vehicles these days.
It will be interesting if Honda rebadges it after Nissan and Honda merge. Id imagine that it would do well with a big "H" on the grill and steering wheel.
Question - is this the Transmission that cannot be repaired- you have to return it to Nissan on an exchange basis… for about $8K+? Secondly, Roman seems to have forgotten about Toyota’s replacing 100k V6 Turbo’s. So, it fair for prospective buyers to be skeptical about this motor.
Everyone saying its pricy but a Toyota Sequoia is priced fully loaded almost $90K .. This is not a basic Armada that is about $60K below even the Toyota 4Runner This is a Pro4X and off road capable what do you expect it to cost ?
$80K is a lot of money, I agree. However, try to spec an equivalent GM, Ford, or Toyota product, and I guarantee they will be $5-15K more. The domestic options all have less power and torque. The Sequoia has the awful second and third row, and tiny cargo area. Suddenly the Armada is the most cost effective option, especially if you believe it will be durable like Patrols have been.
