We citizens here in Wuhan still lack masks, what I do is I bought a UV box which can help me to sanitize my mask and I reuse one mask for 2 months. While washing mask is wrong and other sanitizer will damage the mask. You can buy a UV light sterilizer, it definitely help you with ppe shortage! And you can confirm it from other sources. Overall this video was raw...and it is an eye opener...I do wish you be safe.

This is what happens when US businesses outsource manufacturing of products to another country, mainly China, and now our country is helpless before this pandemic. If everyone wants to play the blame game, they need to look at all the past leaders of this nation that didn't try to stem the flow of outsourcing of AMERICAN manufacturing and blame ourselves for wanting cheaper products that are MADE IN CHINA. What U.S. needs to do is determine what the essential manufacturing sectors that need to be MADE IN U.S.A are, and place tariffs or BAN outright on all imports of those products from places like CHINA in order to help protect U.S. manufacturing. That is what CHINA has been doing so well for so long in order to help grow their manufacturing, I.T., agriculture industry for DECADES.... Although CARS are not necessarily considered essentials, taking them as an example, CHINA places 25% TARIFF ON U.S. AUTOMOBILES FOR SAKES!! The U.S.? ZERO Tariffs on imports!! Chinese gov't has also banned UA-cam, Google, Twitter......on and on......and when the U.S. tries to block Huawei for legitimate security reasons, CHINA CRIES RACISM and other non-sense! Talk about DOUBLE STANDARD from the Chinese Communist Party. The current administration has been trying to tackle this problem for a while, but one can only achieve so much in a short span of few years. U.S. needs a long-term comprehensive plan to continue to tackle this double-standard problem that CCP is presenting to the world by rigging the system and taking advantage of the soft-approach of democratic nations with regards to the economics.

Up until like 3-4 days ago, they were hiding the masks and they for sure are not given anything else, so if an outside patient has it, they’re screwed. At her old facility, there was an outbreak and now a bunch of people have been transferred to the hospital, many in critical condition. They don’t want anyone to be absent either, even if they show symptoms, which is insane. I get they need workers, but if someone is showing symptoms...I mean...

But when it comes to hospital facilites yes it's worrying. Compared to the UK where I live, they have great healthcare facilities..but the government takes this virus lightly. People still going to work using Underground without mask. I wear mask not to protect myself, but I wear it to protect other people. Because currently no one knows who has the virus who doesn't. I don't have any symptoms but I don't know for sure if I have it. I've been staying home but I still need to buy groceries once a week for my family so I must go out. Some peoppe do it for the status and money. I changed my major after getting my master's. Being a future nursing student while interacting with those who are doing it for the money is sickening honestly. I've had classmates that said that they want to quit trying to be a nurse because they don't want to deal with patients who for sick with a deadly disease. I know plenty of people who are doing it for the money and status not because they sincerely want to help others. I want to be a nurse to help save others. In response to the other comments responding to you, some of us already knew that being in the medical field can risk our lives and it's expected. Some of us will die to save others while some are afraid and do it because it's their field. My parents asked me to quit nursing because of how badly covid 19 is. My boyfriend is worried that if something like this happens again while im a nurse i would die. I told him, if i have to, I'll stay in the hospital to not get you and my family sick. I rather die doing what i love than be a coward who's doing it for money and status.

Politicize it! Like I said they were given notice about this disease. WHO offered testing kits but his administration declined it. He's an idiot to believe it'll never reach the country. It is the gov't fault for not mobilizing fast enough but waved it away as if the US is immune to it. No nation is ever prepared for a pandemic but Trump just sat around and said "it's just like the flu" "we'll reopen this April" blah blah. He doesn't set the time. The virus does. He has money. He can afford to hide and not worry about feeding himself or pay rent. But the rest of country lives paycheck to paycheck. He's the president. It's his job to coordinate with other politicians but he's too worried about the economy. If people are dying left and right but you're too busy acting like a spin doctor, how fast do you think the economy will recover? If he really gave a shit he wouldn't dismiss Dr. Fauci or other experts as if they are all idiots. When something like this happens, as a leader, you do everything you can to lessen casualties. You prepare to make sure there's enough protection for everyone. People are dying. He has been working overtime (not at home) to get them sent to hospitals. Seeing people hoarding the masks pisses me off so much because my dad is overworking himself in close contact with like 50 other people, risking getting sick, only for the outcome to be people hoarding hundreds of masks ~Just in case~. Stay home people. Let the people who actually need masks, gloves, etc. use them. They need them more than you do whilst you wait in the drive through for Starbucks.

My Dad and two of my cousins work in the same company and all of them are putting all their knowledge of how to help to their bosses, the deliveries and the engineers. While others just want to get paid for minimal work, my family wants to work faster to get things shipped faster.

I have 2 boxes of level 1 surgical mask that was bought months before covid 19. I have family members that bought 1000 masks for others overseas when covid 19 was worse for them than the US. Some people hoarder for their families overseas when covid 19 was worse there than the US. Some of us got some from before. Some people are still over pricing or selling fake ones. Some are saving themselves first before anyone else. I can honestly say this once again to online and to people around me. "US businesses should make their stuff in the US even if they don't earn as much. I get it. Money talk. However, right now is a clear example that every country that make maskes from that country will only make it for their country not others. Every country care about their country first before your country. US, they should make mask and essentials in the US even if the profit is low. Look at us now. This is the drawback. Who knows if another pandemic would happen again in the future. This is a lesson to be learned. All that history we learned use it not ignore it. Why else are we learning history if we ignore it?"

I agree, I hate people who hoard masks so much. They go out all the time despite knowing that it’s safer for them to stay home. Once they go out, they use 2-3 mask, I don’t even understand what’s the need of using that much mask in one time.
The price of surgical masks in my city are 10 times more expensive and still run out. Luckily, I bought cloth masks which are a lot cheaper and can be reuse.

How can our doctors, nurses, and medical staff help the civilians when they cannot help themselves? If they get infected, they’re out of their job. Who will take their position to help the infected? We need to supply and take care of the medical staff who need it the most!

If they get infected and don't know it, they're also at risk for infecting their patients and family members. No one wins when the healthcare professionals can't protect themselves to continue working. Traumatic accidents, injuries, chronic illness, and anything else outside of COVID doesn't just stop happening.
It's so frustrating to see just how little our lives are valued so long as we can save a few bucks for anyone that's not involved in actual patient care. I don't know why I'm even surprised when this is the state it's always been in. COVID just really highlights the worst qualities.

Annie Wang I couldn’t agree more. In addition, society just has it all wrong in general... I mean how is it that a professional basketball player makes millions and a doctor who is saving lives accumulates 200,000 plus debt from medical school and averages 150,000-200,000 per year only? We have it all backwards.

"Should we just get it now and get it over with? *Chuckles" Funny how you say that because just the other day my colleagues and I were also saying the same thing. It's actually pretty scary how management tells us what we can and cannot wear in order to "ration equipment". I work as a Registered Nurse in Canada and we are also being told to limit our PPE wear (not as extreme in the case in New York). However, my nursing union continues to fight with the government to allow us to wear PPE in order to be safe so that we can provide patient care. All frontline healthcare workers HAVE the right to wear PPE for their own safety, NOT so that we prevent others from getting sick from us.

The thing is it’s like playing Russian Roulette to who will recover and who won’t. So many different reports on how long we can expect to go through this typhoon until we just reach the tide pools of where it’s part of our lives and build up immunities/vaccine. Personally my frustration comes from seeing these reports like what John has posted and I’m helpless do anything. Sitting and watching is just......too much, heartbreaking.

There are so many things wrong with the USA. I used to dream of living there, but I definitely wouldn't now. From the poor health care system, guns, Trump, migrant policies, to them not being environmentally counsious at all - huge trucks, big houses, almost no public transport.... Yeah, no thank you.

Why is this a surprise? The Obama Administration didn’t do much to contain the 2009 novel H1N1 either. Over 50 proposals to contain the virus were dismissed due to economic concerns. As a result, 12,000 died in IS and 284,500 died globally.

It breaks my heart to see that the US government had enough time to do research and prepare for this epidemic for two months but they naively did nothing about it.
In the end, it’s causing innocent American people’s lives and risking hospital staffs to pay for this price.
From this outbreak, it just shows that every government in every country places its own economy, politics ahead of the safety of the their own people.
But what makes a country? It’s their people... without their citizens, there is no culture, finance and a county.

It came from china... if china wasn't deceitful to begin with and let the world know as soon as they suspected something, there probably wouldn't be a china virus pandemic. If china didn't buy up all the medical supplies BEFORE anyone other than china even knew there was a potential threat coming from china, the hospitals probably wouldn't have run out of masks and other medical supplies. You sound like a CCP shill.

@@joannajean9599 Most Americans focus on one factor that lead us in this unacceptable situation. Like this thing sent to China. In natural situation you send aid. But was it a wise choice? The are a magnitude of factors that led us in this dire situation. Lack of preparation, lack of accountability, lack of timely response. If you f***** in preparation at least excel in scrambling for response. In every turn the federal government failed, the experts in cdc or govt are unreliable. We have great minds and resources here. Lack of coordination and probably interest and knowledge in doing the important tasks are left in incapable hands. This is the response we get.

I do blame China for this pandemic. But who is ultimately responsible for the safety of the citizens? Your own government! Focus on your own circle of control. Your own government. That's who you can hold accountable for. The pandemic can come from anywhere. It can be handled in a variety of ways. You can't expect other countries because how dare other countries expect anything out of you? Im not saying not to blame China but Americans should not lose focus on who they should ultimately hold accountable for. US government. China can't do anything to protect you, only your leaders can. Si if your leader start shifting the blame or perform poorly... then YOU are responsible for bringing us into this situation. If you really think about it, it's not the current leadership fault. We knew his capabilities. This whole disaster is really on the citizens for giving him the ultimate authority. I would have been fine until it hit people very close to me, people who sacrifice themselves to care for others. They're suffering from the choices we made four years ago. It's time for people bette to take accountability. That word is so lost in this day and age. The government reflects that in its people. China on the other side... is just laughing at us and the other countries are shaking their heads at how low we have gone.
