Beautiful singer and song writer. Those soldiers are real British soldiers.. Footage was filmed just before the cease fire. Violence and hatred begets more violence and hatred.
My family was from Belfast. They left. Actually they first lived in Country Cork but were Protestant and moved to the North. Eventually they moved to England and finally Canada. I am first generation Canadian but I grew up hearing about the troubles, although I was majorly confused as to why Catholics were fighting against Protestants (and vice versa.) Took a bit of reading to see it more as a response to severe oppression going back not only since 1917 or so but even before that. Complicated subject. This song also breaks my heart. ♡

It's an amazingly powerful song - about the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland - and the suffering that violence can bring. Great voice, and fantastic guitars and drums. It can shock but I'm glad you had the chance to experience it :)
RIP DOLORES O’Riordan…I always get the chills hearing this song this song I absolutely beautiful and her voice leaves a lasting impression on anyone who hears it. God bless and God rest O’Riordan.
Yeah, this is one of the strongest songs about the madness of war and the innocent ordinary people that have to bear the cross of war. Thank you for playing it to remind me.
Yes, this was inspired by the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland, but its meaning can be applied to all wars, and how children are too often the victims. Whether they are brainwashed into being soldiers for a cause that makes no sense or simply killed by playing outside, too many die. It’s an anti war song. Rip Dolores. Your voice is missed.
Never mind Irish anything, the children are covered in gold because you know the song is about a rock band that see these kids as customers. These kids you know are money just waiting to be spent on the band's records.
The song was written about the 2 boys that died in the Warrington bombings that's why she repeats and their bombs twice in the lyrics out of respect for the loss to the families , 2 bombs planted by the IRA in bins exploded killing them as they went shopping for a card for their mother on mothers day. It's also against war of all kinds and yes the troubles in our country of Ireland from 1916 to present day.
*I still have this CD...and I love it. Dolores was in a Hotel when she watched the news of the death of two English boys by an IRA bomb, and she wrote this at that time. The song's inspiration and what she mentions is: the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland and the Irish Republic rejecting the 1921 compromise with Britain during the Irish Civil War. Which was between Irish who were "Pro-Treaty" and those who were "Anti-Treaty." This left Britain only to govern Northern Ireland. The IRA (Irish Republican Army), however, would continue to fight the British (occupying Northern Ireland) to end British rule in Ireland altogether. The IRA used guerrilla warfare tactics, off and on, throughout the 20th century. The 1993 IRA bombing and death of the two boys (3 yrs and 12 yrs) in England happened during the increased fighting after 1969. The year 1969 marks when the IRA stepped up their fighting to get England out of Ireland altogether....they did not succeed.*
I think it’s important that people should always use P for Provisional when mentioning the IRA and the ‘troubles’.It is worth remembering that the PIRA were born from the fight for civil rights and the injustices shown to the Irish/Nationalist community in the north of Ireland. To understand the situation here in Ulster people should look to key flash points, the internment of Irish people from nationalist areas and the murder of protesters on Bloody Sunday in the early 1970s are key factors as to why violence became more violence. It’s equally important to mention British state sponsored terrorism during the period of the troubles, an example would be the Dublin and Monaghan bombings in 1974 which is mentioned in ‘Raised by Wolves’ by U2. Thankfully since the 1998 Peace Agreement there is an assembly in Ulster where all of the community is represented politically and civil rights are now respected.
@@gearoidgrace6962 I think the point of the song was not about the "why" of the conflict. It was about the insanity of it when you are killing children to make your political points. Hence the song is saying BOTH sides are wrong in any conflict that targets the innocent.

Mo, some songs were not made to make us feel comfortable, and clearly this was one of them. As you indicated, the vocals and instrumentation were outstanding! And your reaction was honest as always...thank you!
Yes, my ex wife turned me onto them in the early to mid 90s when it first came out.She is in a class which I say Delores' voice is an instrument not just a voice. Not many of them like Chris Cornell was another one.
The footage of the murals and soldiers were stock footage, not actors. The children playing in rubble were a daily sight. Ireland has been dealing with civil war for a long time, but are experiencing a fragile peace, partly due to this song, written after a bombing killed two children. This song was part rage, part mourning, part plea.
It’s a nice sentiment but trust me we have not been dealing with a civil war for a long time and the peace process has totally zero got to do with the song. Many artists have wrote songs about the conflict in parts of Ulster or Northern Ireland as some know it. Did you know that John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote about the conflict in the 1970s? This was because of their Irish roots and it’s worth checking out. Another fine artist Sting from The Police (again he has Irish heritage) also wrote about it.
Every time I hear this song it makes me cry. So powerful. Even covers. Cried in a bar in Vietnam when a random live band played it a couple years ago. The best thing about the song is that the IRA stopped bombing about a month after the release of this song. So it was more powerful than they had expected it to be.
Your reaction is a good, honest reaction to a powerful song. When Dolores wrote it she was angry, furious even and so clearly that came across to you. The song is about ‘The Troubles’ in Northern Ireland and specifically the campaign of terrorism perpetrated by the IRA both in Northern Ireland and in England. This was after a bombing, I think in Warrington which killed a little boy. I assume that’s why there is that boy in the video but I stand to be corrected. It’s an angry, visceral song. Hugely successful and the Cranberries biggest hit.
Your reaction is a typical reaction to this song. Everybody's interpretation of the songs meaning is unique to everyone globally. Thank you for sharing.
Bad Wolves do a cover of this song in tribute to Delores and it's absolutely beautiful. Please react to that one when you have the time. It's truly touching. ❤️
@@barryodonnell4497 Bad Wolves then decided to donate all proceeds from the album to help family on both sides of the conflict, just like Dolores did with the Original Zombie.
I think besides their tribute to dolores I also think Bad wolves simple changes to two lines made the song haunting just from a current day perspective. the part of the vid that gets me is them reaching out to basically o riordan in the video and her reaching back not just because of the death of riordan i feel like its two spirits sharing a similar pain.

She became connected emotionally to the limerick Hurlers success as well. Several games now have had her voice pouring out in croke park. I've also had the pleasure of standing 10 feet from her at a wedding where she performed several songs. Her voice is unreal in a setting like that.
the song was written about 2 kids who died the year before. they were about 8 and 13 they were going to buy a mothers day card for their mum and they were killed in a bombing.
Hi Morenikeji, yes a very powerful protest song and video to match! The fact that it left you "speechless" is a good thing because it means you need time to think more about it and its meaning. That song was a heart opener for the world on that war in Ireland. It was instrumental to the world's public opinion push on the political factions into the peace talks that gave birth to the Good Friday Agreement. That's why the Band was invited to perform on the 1998 Nobel Peace Ceremony that was given to David Trimble and John Hume for their efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Ireland

When I watch your video, everything feels like a dream. How did you come up with such a wonderful talent that is full of the strange charm of your video?
I love how the lyrics and visuals bring forward the emotions. Her voice was absolutely fantastic. The only other band who can do this that come to my mind right now, is Sabaton. I feel the music now these days don't mean anything, so I appreciate every band that do this. You should by the way react to Sabaton - Christmas Truce. That song bring forward so many emotions.
As others have said, this song is about the Troubles in Norhtern Ireland ... the U2 song Sunday, bloody Sunday is about how the Troubles got started ... British commandos shooting unarmed civilians in the back.
This song touches on all the feelings of despair that we feel when cycles of violence and retribution go unhindered. We all need a break to see the humanity we all share
Through all of the violence, we sacrifice our children's innocence, health and happiness. In my opinion this is what the image means with the children holding hands in a circle with thorns on their heads. Great song!
Delores was such a beautiful woman and a brilliant singer and performer , i was stunned when she passed, i have great memories of her . May she rest in peace
Jan 15 2018 Dolores O’Riordan passed away the day she was to re-record this song with a band called Bad Wolves. Well Bad Wolves recorded the song with her band mates and paid tribute to Dolores O’Riordan and donated all proceeds to her 3 kids. Its a harder version with some words changed to bring it to a more modern war time song.. adding the word drones after tanks, bombs, guns. Worth watching.. they also play tribute in the music video to her.
So as a non-bias Canadian that had nothing to do with The troubles But grew up with a step father that left N Ireland *(Belfast) That seen the killings That knew IRA members And That Knew he wanted something better. : The song for me Tells people It is Hate that breeds And the domino effect ..1 man gets killed but it trickles into the minds of others And then they kill And the act is not forgotten Add in 2 diffrent views of politics And religions And you have people that litterally live across a street throwing fire bombs at one another A person going to the store at night Never come back Car Bombs Department store bombs Police killing people....Even today with the troubles died down (Not gone) 1 spark could start a fire again ....We are all brain washed to fight like "Zombies" We fight in the idea the other person in the bad one never ourselfs
The story behind this tragic incident is heart breaking (1993 - Warrington). As a lot of lovely educated &/or Irish people stated before me in this comment section, the Irish people suffered through several generations of war and voidance that was inherited through several generations. This song was published in the year 1994 to raise awareness and send a message about the (1993 - Warrington) booming by the IRA (Freedom Fighters). The tragedy is that there were two young boys (3yr, 12yr) that left their home on mother's day to buy a card for their mother. Unfortunately, the booming occurred in their vicinity, one child died immediately and the other child was severely wounded and was rushed to the hospital where after a few days he was declared braindead and later his mother was asked to give permission for them to take him off life support on the 5th after the incident. A few weeks after the video clip was released in 1994, the IRA declared a ceasefire after 25 years of conflict. Additionally, the video clip was shot shortly before the ceasefire and those are real local children & real British soldiers.
Some background, my father played golf, and a lot of these people came from other parts of the world(England, Ireland, Italian, and Greece). One morning, my mum was crying at the kitchen table after reading the paper. As a teenager, I didn't know much about world affairs very well. She was upset that some people had lost their lives due to a disagreement in another country, and some children had died. A few months later this song came out, and it was the only few songs my mum didn't complain about me playing it

Such a powerful song about 2 little kids from Warrington in England who went out on mother's day to buy their mom's a Mother's day card but instead got blown to bits by a device planted by those who care not for the innocent. I love playing this song on my Bass.
This song is write to about a terrorist attack that took place roughly 30 miles from where i grew up. One of the 2 boys who died, Tim Parry, was my age and I remember trying to understand the logic at the time. This song is more a work of art mixed with a political statement that shows that in a conflict like this, there are no good guys, just zombies and victims

Yes, my ex wife turned me onto them in the early to mid 90s when it first came out.She is in a class which I say Delores' voice is an instrument not just a voice. Not many of them like Chris Cornell was another one.
💯💯💯
Zombie was the first song i learned on guitar in the mid 90's and has ever since been in my playlist among other of their songs 😁
The empathy in your eyes is powerfully beautiful, made me cry.
You are beautiful inside and out✌️. Your reactions have caused me to cry 😿 on various times including this one!!!!!
Many thanks for the info.
It’s amazing how feelings could be easily passed across in writing/singing.
The boys were out to buy Mother's Day cards for their mom.
🙋🏻♂️ beautiful reaction 😍

Hello PDX! One of my favorite places. ❤️
(from Arkansas 🙂)
Your reaction is a typical reaction to this song. Everybody's interpretation of the songs meaning is unique to everyone globally. Thank you for sharing.
Great makeup. You look very beautiful. Love the colours.
Bad Wolves do a cover of this song in tribute to Delores and it's absolutely beautiful. Please react to that one when you have the time. It's truly touching. ❤️
If you didn't know Dolores was supposed to duet on the Bad wolves cover but dies too soon
@@barryodonnell4497 Bad Wolves then decided to donate all proceeds from the album to help family on both sides of the conflict, just like Dolores did with the Original Zombie.
The bad wolves cover was alright but the original is far better
I think besides their tribute to dolores I also think Bad wolves simple changes to two lines made the song haunting just from a current day perspective. the part of the vid that gets me is them reaching out to basically o riordan in the video and her reaching back not just because of the death of riordan i feel like its two spirits sharing a similar pain.
great song ! ode to my family is another really goood one kind of sounds like its made in the 50s lol very deep music the cranberries were a talented band
These guys were so down to earth, they come from Limerick in Ireland,I used to see them around, the passing of Dolores was so sad💔 hope you're in good spirits and you're surrounded by good people, stay safe♥️
I was so shattered about Dolores. Their first album helped me get through a difficult time in my life, this band will always be special to me.
Hope you are feeling more upbeat and confident and look forward to seeing more of your reactions and that beautiful smile!
Everytime I hear Dolores O'Riordan' voice I get goosebumps. One of the finest voices, ever. RIP.
GOOD REACTION MOST PEOPLE ARE SPEECHLESS AND BROUGHT TO TEARS THOUGH PASSION
thank you for reacting & being so lovely !! i am Irish, but also feel like i do not always remember enough historically. la la lah, i am so happy the internet exists, hah.
big love from chicago! ~
Goosebumps every single time since 1994
The image of the kids screaming as the music crescendos near the end of the song still hits like a freight train
Firstly, Thank you for opening up your experience to atypical music styles (I presume)...music truly transends cultures. Secondly, thank you for NOT interrupting the song like every other review does .. great job.
The cranberries were an awesome band. This was their greatest song. RIP Delores O'Riorden.
RIP Dolores O’Riordan you absolute beautiful human being. She haunts my best ever vocals ever. Riamh dearmad! 💖😭
Heartbreaking song and reality. May peace and love prevail.
Thank you for reacting to such an emotional song
Amazing voice and music. Thanks Morenikeji!! 😊🌹
Many thanks!!!😊
This will be my first time subscribing to a person who does reactions, after thousands of such videos. You are a GOOD HUMAN!
What a wholesome smile you have madam. It really is a great song. Thank you for your reaction.
I miss beautiful videos like this from the 90s. We olds were lucky to have this growing up.
Beautiful song, beautiful lady and a beautiful reaction from a beautiful lady .. RIP Dolores O'Riordan.
My daughter-in-law is from Addis Ababa. You remind me of her; lovely with intelligence and a natural, soulful way of seeing things. I feel at home watching you.
I just watched this a second time and I cried all the way through as if it were the first time. Bless our poor children.
Thank you for posting this. Very powerful. Glad to see you react to it.
Just finished all the cranberries albums again on a 2700km road trip for my 40th birthday and it never gets old, not even for 1 minute.
Beautiful reaction.
Great video reaction, thank you
I was amazed at the excellence of your skills and was moved by your sincerity and hard work while watching the video. I'm looking at your video like a dream. My wet eyes, immersed in the neon lights like tears that filled the winter dawn sky, were moved by your video and fell in love. The countless stars shining in the winter night sky are each beautiful, but I fell in love with your image shining in my heart and it is the most beautiful. I can't stop thinking your video is so good. Watching your video under the night sky at dawn when the cold winter wind blows is so beautiful and enchanting. It is your video that I want to watch over and over again. I like your video so much that I want to keep it without forgetting it. By chance at the winter window, as the algorithm introduced me, when I opened my UA-cam window, the first video I saw was your video. Your one and only video in this world makes my heart stumble.
RIP Delores. You will always live beyond death. I remember and will until the day i die.
Keep it up. Your killing it!
Through all of the violence, we sacrifice our children's innocence, health and happiness. In my opinion this is what the image means with the children holding hands in a circle with thorns on their heads. Great song!
Fee fi fo is one of the hardest deepest cranberries song about child abuse, most people dont know or remember it but it hit deep any time i listen
I love this song...
Straight through the heart. I will always remember her. Hurt is so present . Angel may have sung a song of earth life?
I'm glad you liked it. I'm from Ireland and have the last name as Dolores but no relation. It's more than an iconic song but they are an iconic band.
More than an iconic song…I can’t agree less👏🏼
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Welcome to Belfast, Northern Ireland. That's where and when I grew up.
Such a powerful song
Very moving...
Beautiful reaction
Dolores, your masterpiece. RIP
I like you because you get emotional listening to the songs. 🥰
I try to listen to this song at least once a day.
Considering The Videos Deep Subject Matter,, I Think You Did A Great Job My Music Lovin Sister.
Your look at the end was priceless, and honest. A true "WTF" expression. And that's fitting to what this song is representing.
So as a non-bias Canadian that had nothing to do with The troubles But grew up with a step father that left N Ireland *(Belfast) That seen the killings That knew IRA members And That Knew he wanted something better. :
The song for me Tells people It is Hate that breeds And the domino effect ..1 man gets killed but it trickles into the minds of others And then they kill And the act is not forgotten Add in 2 diffrent views of politics And religions And you have people that litterally live across a street throwing fire bombs at one another A person going to the store at night Never come back Car Bombs Department store bombs Police killing people....Even today with the troubles died down (Not gone) 1 spark could start a fire again ....We are all brain washed to fight like "Zombies" We fight in the idea the other person in the bad one never ourselfs
Love your channel big up fam
Love the band.....amazing........ She's surely missesd
A few months later this song came out, and it was the only few songs my mum didn't complain about me playing it
Definitely recommend checking out Dreams, Linger and Ode To My Family, and maybe When You're Gone Too by The Cranberries
The humanity of your facial expressions and reactions is very rare to find these days.
Oh! That eye make up! 🥰🥰🥰
Hard rock/heavy rock. There's no reason to be speechless. It's rock and roll.
This has to be my all time favourite song, and again , a great reaction 👍🏻A USA rock band called bad Wolves made this version of Zombie in which Dolores was supposed to add the vocals to the recordings, but had died that day.. So in her memory they donated all of the proceedings to her children.. It's defo worth a watch ...RIP Dolores O’Riordan. 🙏
Your video popped up as a suggestion to watch. I've been watching a lot of reaction videos lately and this song is in my favorites list.
Your reaction got my "like" and "sub"!
Well done! I will have to catch up on your previous posts.
Thank you for doing what you do so well!
From Virginia - U.S.A.
I think it's crying about the loss of the human spirit. That children will never experience.
Surely someone below has suggested you watch the BAD WOLVES cover of this song, made after Delores O'Riordan was scheduled to perform vocals on their cover of ZOMBIE, but died unexpectedly the day she was supposed to record with them on 1-15-18 -- The video is like they rose her from the grave - Very powerful imagery reference to this original Cranberries video -- LOVE to see YOU react to it - You haven't, have you ..... I'll try to search it out
When you say
“I’m just being here “
that’s really enough
Such a powerful song about 2 little kids from Warrington in England who went out on mother's day to buy their mom's a Mother's day card but instead got blown to bits by a device planted by those who care not for the innocent.
I love playing this song on my Bass.
Thank you for your beautifully human reaction. It’s absolutely honest and real.
