Dumb question, but is the Behaviour of the NPCs actually being influenced by the dialogue, as in did they actually get up and meet because of the conversation, or were other commands involved? Because if that's the case, that is insane
Mantella is more of a role play chat in game than it is actually controlling what the NPCs do in game. The NPC can get 'offended' in the chat and agro turning hostile to the player, but there's not yet a way to make two NPCs fight with Mantella alone. What he likely did, cause I've done this, is have one of them follow him with a mod or console command. And then instigate a fight like any vanilla way. But if you have two separate conversations with two different NPCs, when you "join" them together in a conversation with you, Mantella uses the chat history of both to provide details and make the characters react accordingly. It's still technically one AI playing both characters at the same time, but you won't really notice that in-game. Mantella does the background work when the AI decides to "switch" characters, processing the right voice files. This works seamlessly most of the time depending on the AI model used (called an LLM).

locally best i could do was like 1 second-ish... but if you watch the LLM or mantella console you can see the responses are immediatly there is no delay. I believe it has something to do between passing the information through xVASynth and then into the game, that's the delay
Pay close attention to your Mantella.exe window to see what step(s) in the process are taking excessively long. Could be your whisper STT, the LLM portion, or the TTS (xVASynth or xtts) portion. Depending on which it is, there's a good chance you'll be able to do something about it and reduce your total response times
