Imagine being in a gang but can’t fight. All these people can do is use guns. I knew I liked Torres since he first came on.
Same here especially that interrogation scene with him and Jay in Season 9 he was giving me Markus from Detroit Become Human vibes
Most gang members across the world are like that. They are only strong with a gun in their hand.
The only problem with Halstead is Torres would whoop his knowing Krav Maga that knows 4 mma in one setting yeah Halstead wouldn't have a chance doesn't matter if Halstead is a ranger or not

I'm loving Dante Torres...loved him since his undercover appearance. He can hold his own, this one. We miss Halstead, but welcome to the team, Torres.
With Al and Antonio gone Jay was the only one who could take the spot as Hank's number two. After seeing how Torres has kept his neighbor as his own personal witsec program I am glad to say I'm wrong

I can understand why Torres's friend was upset with him over her brother, but at the same time, what did she honestly expect him to do? Get him a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card?? That guy was responsible in multiple ways for the murder of an innocent person. She can't honestly believe that her brother would get to walk free.
The emotional development of Torres in this episode was so good. He's the strong silent type, but he showed a lot of humanity and emotion in this episode. He cares for his people so much, and I think he understands that being a cop isn't necessarily going to be a beacon of hope for his people. But he's at least going to do whatever it takes to show that justice comes in many forms. A badge AND fists.
Very well said. Yeah I think she’s mostly pissed that he PROMISED her he would protect her brother and then he got 20 years. Like she doesn’t understand the situation he got himself into and that Dante could only help so much. With out his help her brother would have been dead
Exactly he stole weapons from the 1-8s hid the stolen goods in the home of an innocent person and that resulted in said innocent person being killed and him being hunted. There was no clean solution he’d either go to jail for the murder or killed for ripping off the 1-8s. There was no clean solution.

Awesome this scene really shows Torres is not afraid to use more force when backed into a corner. He said it himself he lives in the ghetto where he has to deal with gangs like the 1-8s on and off the job. Halstead never fully could accept the gray area that comes with the territory and he never fully could trust others like Voight or Torres to do something like this when it was needed. Ideals are a nice thought but they don’t keep you alive.
I think Jay really did understand it and I think he was trying to accept it to the point where he realized Hank is a soldier just like him, problem is though Jay was trying to separate soldier and cop whereas Hank kept the mentalities of them together. When Jay got back he thought it be all following the law and order of things but the longer he stayed with intelligence he realized he just left one battlefield for another, in the end he did exactly what he didn't want Mouse to do

Pretty great first episode without Halstead; sad that Ben is getting hate for being a “replacement” for Jesse, when they’re their own individuals (Hailey was the “replacement” for Lindsey and didn’t get this much hate). Hopefully we get to see Torres and Ben the actor shine more!❤️🔥
I’m pretty sure Hailey’s actress is still literally getting death threats from CPD fans because she’s “Lindsay’s replacement”…but yeah it is definitely really sad to see these characters/actors get hate for decisions that they don’t really have any control over.
