Naturally, if you are helping to elect someone a million times worse than Biden-Harris, on every issue including Palestine, no adult is going to take your claims about caring about Palestinians very seriously. Basic common sense.
Because its not important to most people. Its a strip of land 10km by 40km on the other side of the planet engaged in a decades long conflict that Gazans are willing participants in.. and as for the current flare up are the instigators. Anyone thinking that this issue even registered for the majority of Americans is nuts. The only thing the Gaza protests have done is piss people off.
Because ultimately almost nobody that matters cares. If Gaza never happened Trump would still have blown Harris off her feet. This was not close. No single issue decided this, anywhere. This was a full stop approval of Trump by a sweeping majority of Americans. We need to understand and internalize this, it was a failing of the entire party, of the the left in America in general.

The human factor is irrelevant to the majority of Americans. The main argument here is that the government is pouring billions of dollars into weapons instead of using that money to help common citizens. It´s like when the UK ended slavery. There was a minority that appealed to humanity, but in the end, it just wasn´t profitable anymore.
Trump supporters (evangelicals) support genocide and don't mind the taxpayer money going to Israel for religious Armageddon/ rapture/ prophecy purposes.

It's already a shit show let's see what trump does about it. I think he really wanna be popular so he might end this and take credit as the anti war president
I was telling my wife the same thing. The Gaza issue for me was a red line and I debated within myself for a really long time before voting. I wasn’t going to vote because I’m tired of voting for the lesser of two mediocre opponents. In the end I wasn’t happy with my vote. I think millions didn’t vote because they didn’t want to feel the way I did. Harris should’ve drawn a hard line in the sand with Gaza. She should’ve done something about student debt, and more. There just wasn’t a real clear difference of her and Biden and not much of difference between her and Trump on Gaza. I can’t stand Trump, but I’m hoping he has success for things that will not hurt the people.
What else did you want her to do? She is not the president, republicans blocked student loans. I just don’t understand how to explain to people that’s committed to a misunderstanding how things work. But honestly, it’s done now. We don’t have to worry about any of those things. You people asked for Trump, he is back
The American people will support American foreign policy for a limited amount of time if they think the cause is justified, but they won’t support endless wars without the possibility of victory. Both the Gaza war and the Ukraine war are exceeding people’s patience. Trump said he would seek a ceasefire with Russia. Trump’s statements about Palestine don’t sound all that morally sympathetic to the arabs, but he does seem to imply that he thinks the conflict is being dragged out for too long. For some people it may be a case of war fatigue rather than moral outrage on behalf of the victims.
AIPAC rules both parties, and will continue to do so for the forseeable future, sadly. The power of ALL the lobbies is an enormous problem for American politics.
I've not heard anyone mention this but Putin has aligned pretty heavy with Iran. Recently, he's came out and said the tensions in the middle east needs to be cooled down and a 2 state solution should move forward. Curious about if he may try to put a bug in trumps ear about reigning in netanyahu and Israel. Tensions rising will not benefit Putin. Hope someone steps in and helps the palestenians soon. This is one time I won't mind seeing Putin use trump.
Brother Mehdi does not understand that Hariss did not connect with the people, she did not have a plan at the beginning, and when she did and was asked about it she could not explain how it will work, she also ran conflicting adds to separate demographics and got caught doing it, people could not connect with her as a person, her prosecutor history did not help her either, specially when she said that's how she will run america when she is in power as a prosecutor, not to mention the disgusting LGBTQ and abortion laws that the democrats are pushing the last term, add to that the open border situation and on top of it the insane inflation that is going on, people had enough of all that, they wanted someone who will limit those issues.
“She alienated a significant part of her potential voter base for several reasons: 1) Upholding the party line on Gaza, which alienated those hoping for a more independent stance; 2) The public’s frustration over billions spent on wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, which contrasted sharply with domestic needs; 3) Failing to recognize the widespread discontent with the Biden administration, especially regarding economic concerns and the perception of a downturn.”
You forgot to add the discontent of Black American voters. Trump received more Black votes than previously but many more stayed home. Black people are the Democratic's party most loyal demographic but receive absolutely nothing in return. I wasn't voting for the candidate of either party including Jill Stein. Let the chips fall where they may.
Oh and Trump didn't alienate people with his foreign policy? His crimes? And Project 2025? Don’t bother counting her mistakes. If you voted for Trump it’s because Kamala is a woman - and you can blame yourself for the demise of Palestine and America for that matter.
I am Lebanese American and almost didn’t vote at all because of Gaza. At the end, I voted for Kamala because I didn’t want to wake up to the nightmare we are in now.
I think what Mehdi wasn’t listening to regarding this man’s analysis was: Too many of the Democrat base decided not to show up at all. So you can’t just analyze based on the numerator. It’s the denominator that was the issue. A giant swath of their base felt disengaged and disenfranchised. Gaza is one huge part of that.
I was thinking constantly about Gaza during the election run-up. Harris is VP, doesn't that mean standing beside the President on every issue, even though you may disagree? You can't be VP and slam a President's policy. Perhaps she was playing it safe until after she became President. As Bernie Sanders said: This election is no about third party voters but about Democracy, vote for Harris. Anything but Trump. Am in Australia, and our Conservative party backs Israel %100. That is one of the reasons I won't be voting for it in our next election.
I’ll sound like an Islamophobe but it’s about “family values” more than Gaza. Voting for Trump is exponentially worse than Harris. It’s about Muslims not liking the LGBT+ community, liking the idea of banning no fault or consensual divorces, banning abortion, subjugating women’s rights and allowing somebody that treats women like a piece of beef. Crazy idea, since Trump apparently doesn’t drink that could be another reason for some muslim men too. Who knows

Mehdi your guest is correct. I almost didn’t vote for Harris because of Gaza and I am a liberal democrat. I wrote my congressman about it too! Of course I had to vote for her instead of a pathological liar .
Harris was overly bold and took risks, fully aware that her actions were wrong in many respects, particularly regarding Gaza, the economy, and inflation. It served the Democratic Party right to realize that money and donations are not everything, as she did receive the funds.
Polls indicate that Gaza was not a top priority for the majority of voters. She could’ve called for an arms embargo and still lost by a significant amount.

Anyone thinking that this issue even registered for the majority of Americans is nuts. The only thing the Gaza protests have done is piss people off.
CBC here in Canada was the same. The soft power that Israel wields in the West is impressive.
Because ultimately almost nobody that matters cares. If Gaza never happened Trump would still have blown Harris off her feet. This was not close. No single issue decided this, anywhere. What Muslims want in Israel Palestinian conflict doesn't align with most Americans so you'll never find a party to vote

But honestly, it’s done now. We don’t have to worry about any of those things. You people asked for Trump, he is back
This guy speaks sense

I was thinking constantly about Gaza during the election run-up. Harris is VP, doesn't that mean standing beside the President on every issue, even though you may disagree?
