One of the weak spots of BMW X5 E70 50i N63B44 engine, is that coolant tank is getting cracked due to higher cooling temperatures and pressurised cooling system.
BMW X5 E70 50 coolant tank replacment It is not expenssive repair, but that leak can misslieads you that your lower hose seal is leaking or your Coolant tank cap is not working properly.
To determine if it is a faulty coolant cap, when you remove it (when the engine N63B44 is cold enough) there should be a antifreeze leak singhs around the overflow opening.. if there is not ... in most cases your N63B44 engine coolant tank is cracked and need to be replaced. Do not underestimate any coolant leaks on your engine! That could lead to more serious damages like, overheated engine , blown gasket, cracked cylinder head or the works.. scored cylnders!
That repair can be done by yoursef with some common tools at home- you need a ratchet, extension, 10 mm socket, a small flat screw driver .. few rags and a bucket where you can collect your drained coolant.
