Where Are They Now: Mario went to work with his brother Luigi as part of a demolition crew before they started their own plumbing business. The rest as they say was history. Pauline had a music career before being elected as Mayor of New Donk City. Donkey Kong Sr. and Jr. finally reunited and returned home to Donkey Kong Country where Sr. became know as Cranky Kong after he retired.
I remember this. The success of the Pac-Man cartoon led to lots of other video game-inspired SatAM series like Saturday Supercade, Pole Position (which played as more of an action/adventure cartoon), and Dragon's Lair, which was also made by the same animation studio that did SSC.
I love that I always think of this show when people just say “The Donkey Kong Cartoon.” I feel that same way with Pac-Man since I always think of the HB cartoon.
Remember seeing this on Saturday mornings and being so disappointed by it, didn't do the arcade game justice. The DKjr cartoon was slightly better, but that's not saying much. Both cartoons were dumbed down way too much. DK was just horrendous.
@@SoshiTheYoshi It's too easy to get the two studios mixed-up: Ruby-Spears was founded in 1977 by Joe Ruby (1933-2020) and Ken Spears (1938-2020) who used to work at Hanna-Barbera. The two studios came under common ownership in 1981, when Ruby-Spears' original parent company Filmways (the TV studio that did The Beverly Hillbillies and Addams Family in the '60s) sold the cartoon studio to Taft Broadcasting (which owned H-B since 1966).
It's like if a 1969 Hanna Barbera cartoon time traveled to the 80's.
More like a mid 70's HB cartoon.

(If you accept that Cranky is DK’s grandpa)
I love how carefree DK/Cranky is in this lmao

What an interesting find! I guess we'll have to add "Donkey Kong" to the list of Mario related Cartoons!
The new Mario Odyssey DLC is looking great
This whole thing is such a fascinating relic to me. It honestly looks 20 years older than it actually is.

Peter Cullen As Mario.
The only show where mario is the bad guy

Soooooooooo theat's where the parody dubs got the idea of making fun of the heroes
Is Saturday supercade made by Hanna Barbera?
No, it was Ruby Spears.
Hanna-Barbera did Pac-Man a year prior.
