Steve just a heads up. The release spray you have listed for the U.S. is not for silicone molds. It destroys the molds. I ordered it and read the can . Just luckily enough the lady was very understanding and I got my money back.Thank you for your information and videos. Very pretty will try this in the spring.
You can always use a colender to shake your crystals to separate the small from the big.
I am so glad you've done these, my mind has been boggled for a while now trying to figure out a way of making these. Honestly I'm so thankful that I found you on facebook when I first started my resin journey (It's been nearly 2 years now) & everytime I feel I'm losing my enjoyment with resin I always come across one of your videos & I'm motivated to try again so honestly thankyou. Is the longer you leave the crystals to grow the bigger they get? Or eventually would you have to put the geodes in a new batch of Epsom salt water?

Hi Steve, I loved the second method you used where you made the Epsom salts grow into a more natural effect mould & the shine in the mould was great. I look forward to giving this a go with my family. It’s a great way to show them how crystals form & they will love to make their own moulds with them. Great way to gets kids to do some hands on learning that turns into a great arts & crafts project. My nieces will love these.

Hi just thinking, if you can't get the salt crystals out of the silicon mold, you could soak them in fresh water to dissolve the crystals out, but I haven't tried it, but it might work 🤷♀️

5:20 for some reason this mold triggers so much fear in me. Like, trypophobia. LOL with the scissors going in there it looks like a ... (sorry to say it) it looks like one of those blackhead removal channel but very severe treatment of the patient!

I can’t imagine the second molds would be usable without tons of bubbles, unless you used a vacuum chamber.

I love this!!! As a kid I was given magic rocks. I remember putting the packet of whatever it was in a jar of water and soon colored mountains appeared in the jar. when my kids were little we made Christmas ornaments with pipe cleaners bent into stars and soaked on a string in Borax.. I see you using Epsom salts so I do some googling and I see they can also be made with Alum, sugar, magnesium something or other. it makes me wonder how they compare to each other? would coating the crystals in resin preserve them? or add small pieces into some jewelry molds???
Borax makes really great crystals as well. Might be worth looking at to see if it can be used?
This is what I did. Except I used silica gel cat litter. Mixed some with a bit of resin just to hold them together and then made the silicon mold from that.

Ok Steve, I love the druzy molds! Fantastic as always! I need your advice about resin... What brand/type is the thinnest or lowest viscosity resin you use? I bought some pro marine table top that you previously recommended, but had horrible results as it gelled before I could mix my colors in! 😢 I'm thinking it may have been a bad batch, as the hardener was yellow tinted already when I got it. Also that brand gave me bad skin reactions even with full ppe. I got some nice very intricate molds I'm excited to try but I need a good runny resin. Oh, and my stained glass using pebo paint worked great except where I had a little gap hahaha. Wish I could show a picture. Thank you so much for being fantastic 💜
dont u get rid of the bubbles in the silicon after its poured?
Watching the first method, I am wondering if you can use mold putty instead of silicone, pressing the crystals into it to create the texture. Then of course removing them when it's cured. It may be possible with both methods.

Just me thinking: why not first pour the silicon then put the crystal upside down in the silicone so you still see the bottom of the clay.
Than you don't have cut of the silicon after curing.
If it's because the tip of the crystal will go through the silicone during curing, than first pour a thin layer, wait for it to set a little and than pour some more silicon as the some hight as the crystal in push the crystal upside down in the silicon so only the edge of the clay is visible.
Again, just me trying to get a clean top without cutting away silicon that's in the way.

I just asked my husband what a plastic beer mug is. We are culturally backwards in the U.S. I ask my husband if the plastic makes the beer go cold and he was terribly offended and said only an American would leave his beer long enough to get cold!

My biggest question is why is it called 'druzy'? I'll have to look that up, because it seems anachronistic.
What is a droosy? And what is lolly?
Druzy or druse is a clasification for crystal formations, usually a coating of crystals on a surface.
Lolly stick is the British version of popsicle stick, same thing 😊
Let the water COOOOL. Sigh. had them sitting since Friday, and nothing has grown. I am going to try again- more glue and crystals, heat the solution up, more crystals dissolved into the solution and let the blessed thing cool off before adding the bases. Back to it!
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I added a lot more salt to the solution, reglued and attached the crystals and made certain it was cool before dropping them in. I am going to try doing this with alum, sugar, table salt and maybe some of those interesting crystal crowing materials I am seeing in other videos.
