Starset have so many bangers but the one that speaks to me the most is diving bell. A song about anxiety and depression/suicide awareness with powerful vocals and a chilling music video. "If I stare into the abyss will it stare into me..."
I just want you to know that I found your channel because of Starset, but I keep coming back because of you. Your reactions are genuine and I love the way you really listen to the music in every aspect. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks for making this great reaction video! I loved how much attention you paid to all the different elements. I never would've noticed the "see-saw" effect in the percussion if you hadn't pointed it out. This makes me want to go back through Starset's catalog and pay more attention to the little details. I tend to be super focused on lyrics so I often miss some cool stuff in the instrumental. (Until I've listened to something about 50 times, and then I can pick up more on small production details lol)
3 layers? Never noticed that, sounds like 2 layers on my airpods and I think I need to get headphones like yours to be able to hear the 3rd layer. Seeing a lot of pop elements incorporated in metal music and honestly I'm not mad at it, it creates such a great soundscape when it's done right. Thank you for another great review, friend. Hey, good to see the NO shirt making a comeback! I know it's becoming a running joke for me but I like that shirt 😂
Hahaha I'll send you one. Not a bad idea for merch though. Third layer makes you work really hard for it but still fire. Also, very possible I'm just wrong 😂🤷🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️
@@ChaseCarneson I'd love that 🤣how's your merch sale going? I don't think you're still with UA-cam partners right because of your visa. You know what, nvm you can answer this question on your QnA livestream tomorrow. Will be there to hang out before my next livestream event :)
Juliette, I'd definitely recommend a wired set of headphones - Bluetooth, no matter how good it can be, will be losing fidelity and thus quality. You'll just have a little bit more from a proper set of headphones, however there's so many options that finding what you like can be tricky! Depending on where you are and COVID circumstances, I'd suggest trying various cans on for size, fit, and sound - you need to find what works for you. Sennheiser, Beyer, Audio Technica, JBL, Sony - just to name a few! And then, if you want to get further into it, you can use a quality DAC/Amp if you're going for more powerful headphones, although I think just for the quality of audio you get through UA-cam it may not quite be worth the expense. Oops, look at me getting all nerdy, I'll hush now hah.
Adam Gilbert is a beast on the drums on the album DIVISIONS has allot of electronic drum pad work in MANIFEST, DIVING BELL, TRIALS allot of electronics
Ooooo fuck yes great band, and awesome live shows. Like hella awesome. Band is relatively new( only 3 albums out) but if you want some good sci-fi rock, this is the place to be!!
Still kicking myself for not seeing them live when they played a festival near me (even though it was 105F out XD ). Love their sound and storytelling! I have a signed copy of the comic book they released through Marvel, and it's one of my prized possessions 😁
Great reaction to a great band 👍 Saw these lads live 3 years ago and they were killing it. Hope to see them back again as they just announced their '21 tour.
Missed the premiere but so glad I didn't miss this song. TBH my brain has a hard time keeping up with all the new bands I've been listening to, but it sure as hell won't forget this one. Thanks again 😍🤘🙏

(Off of their album "Guiding Lights" which is a masterpiece, it's like entering audible heaven at times)
Would love to see the band Landmvrks on the channel, they're something I just found and I can't stop listening to them. The song that's got me the most is Lost in a Wave and it's just a perfect blend of absolute heavy and cleaner chorus shit.... similar to architects in that sort of way...

Although My Demons remains my favourite from them 😛 I always appreciate the work you put to your videos. Looking forward to more Starset on this channel in 2021.
Having personally watched Starset live multiple times throughout their run so far, Dustin's vocals have improved dramatically. The older live videos aren't generally of the greatest quality either so they tend to accentuate Dustin's lack of formal vocal training. That being said, Starset is incredible when actually watched live, both musically/vocally and for the sheer experience.
@@RogueBipolarDemon seems like i had my first starset live-experience at the right time when i saw them in cologne in march. Dustins vocals and screams were awesome
Did I see that correctly? There is still one band - or rather a project - missing in your sound-travel. [Project since they released only one Album ere parting (one member continued as... I do think it's called Shiva's Dream, though no match to their first try on this genre)]. I never came across another New-Age-Metal as good and am not surprised it is still very popular in Spain, though the band was from Munich and dissolved a long time ago. So please check out for 'Betray My Secrets' - The song 'Little Wanderer'. It is very catching for its traditional cattle-herders call, (I do think is called 'Calling Home the Cattle' and first got famous for its use in the Soundtrack of Kama Sutra in the piece 'Gold Dust Baccanalia', but makes perfect sense in this song on dying.
ill be honest, the only album of theirs i enjoy is transmissions. i found it felt much less digital, im not sure if it actually is but it always felt more heavy. i would recommend halo, my demons, let it die, and point of no return from that album. like i said, im not sure if its actually less digital than their newer stuff, but i never got into anything of theirs besides that album. i thoroughly enjoy your analyses of songs from bands i know, very informative. thanks chase!
Chase, I recommend checking out Project Aegis. It's a collaborative effort headed by Matt Smith (lead vocals Theocracy), think Ayreon but on a smaller scale, and all the money made on the song is donated to charity. They have three songs to choose from. Collide & Spark, Angel in the Ashes, and The Rest is Mystery. Take your pick. :)
@@janfertan5414 Thats actually so freaking funny, I was this close to mentioning that the video has the most amazing drop and guitar flip that is just butter to watch its so smooth lol. Glad to see im not the only one that noticed just how great that was

This almost sounded generic but there was just enough there at the edge of perception to make it stand out as something more thought-out. Couldn't quite put my finger on it though...
And that's very intentional on the bands part. they want the music to be as accessible as it can while still conveying the emotion story and theme that they portray. but everything has layers to it.
@@ChaseCarneson Would still enjoy your analysis of the song structure and how they start with such intensity and still give the impression of ramping it up later on

I would suggest doing the song that was the start for all of us Starset fans, My Demons. It’s alittle different from the newer stuff but it’s so good.
