Complimenti ! e grazie di cuore, caro "ettorebastianini" for sharing this treasure with us. Unfortunately this opera never had been performed on stage by this great Artist~ sarebbe stato, senza dubbio, un magnifico Don Giovanni.
In his last two concerts in Japan he sang thia aria as well as the famous Champaign song in Don Giovanni. How nice it could have been if he could sing Don Giovanni on stage.
This is just a guess, but my sense is that at the time, Mozart was considered Viennese territory, and Bastianini was unquestionably La Scala’s leading Verdi-dramatic Italian baritone. There was actually a formal agreement with Vienna, where Karajan was running the Staatsoper, according to which La Scala’s singers would sing Italian opera in Vienna and where Vienna’s singers would sing Mozart at La Scala.
Ettore Bastianini would have been a magnificent and different Don Giovanni with plenty of charm but also with nostalgia.
Inedito Ettore!!! Con la sua splendida voce poteva eseguire ciò che voleva...N 1
Just perfect.

La vesrione migliore di questa aria! Siepi alla pari per alrti ragioni!
💘💘💘
I am just curious. If La Scala can make him sing Hercules, why didn't let him try Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro?
Good question !!

Don Giovanni was usually sung by Mario Petri during the 50s at La Scala.
Per favore, traducete in italiano la lingua inglese, non tutti la conoscono bene! Grazie 🙏!
