    Ho sempre posto la mia attenzione verso i tenori ma oggi mi devo un po' ricredere perché ascoltando il magnifico Ettore Bastianini con la sua possente e caldissima voce si percepisce un non so che di molto sensuale che ti accarezza il cuore e dà sollievo all'anima. Una sicurezza nell'eseguire il canto, il percepire nitide le parole ti danno la certezza della sua grande professionalità. Grazie Maestro Bastianini ed anche un sentito ringraziamento a chi ci agevola a farci conoscere i veri talentissimi del tempo che fu. Grazie ancora ingriddoppler!!!!!!!!!!!

    Favoloso! Una voce sentita dentro e che vibra nell'anima.
    In più la tessitura centrale delle opere russe andava come un guanto alla sua bellissima voce che rammentava la corda del basso (sopratutto in quei anni).
    Quando si sa che la regista Pavlova e il maestro Rodzinzky andavano pazzi per lui..... Sentendolo cantare qui si capisce perchè.
    Peccato che l'Eugène Oneghine non sia stato registrato.

      Прекрасный баритон! Но мне не хватает лиричности в его исполнении. Слишком "героично". Он чудесный Ренато и граф Ди Луна, но здесь он, видимо, не совсем чувствует образ ...

    I believe this work was introduced into Italy in early 1950s? It would be hard for those Italian young singers who did not know a single word of Russian or even did not know anything about Russia to undersand a Russian opera in such a short period of time.

    Some tenderness please. With this kind of singing "Ja vas lyublyu" I quite understand Lisa, that she doesn't like Yeletsky too much. Give mi some Slavic soul (Lisitsian and Chernov and Mazurok and Hvorostovsky.)

    Мнение о том, что Бастьянини был слабым актером, мне кажется неверным. В каждой партии его персонаж драматически убедителен.

      In Italia l'opera russa era totalmente sconosciuta tranne qualche opera di Rimskij Korsakov e il Boris. Dama di Picche era forse la prima volta che si eseguiva in Italia e forse in Europa. Comunque oro colato e in Russia un baritono così non c'è l'hanno mai avuto.

    Comparing Dmitri Hvorostovsky with this magnificent singer is to say the least… controversial.

      That's right. In russian repertoire Bastianini was quite lost and didn't know what to do.

      spevoljub The thing is that anyone with their ears right can hear that Hvorostovsky is just a failed caricature of an operatic singer, whereas Bastianini was a great baritone, who nevertheless had technical issues.

      @@michelez3710 Bastianini was great singer - with italian way of singing. He was great in italian repertoire. But his italian "exibicionismo" is not appropriate for russian repertoire.

    Ettore спел великолепно, но в образ Елецкого не попал: слишком напористо, победительно...
