I've been watching review videos for 3 hours to decide which trimmer I want to buy, and you're the ONLY person who cut to the damn chase in the video description. The video is direct and concise as well. THANK YOU!
Man I remember when I first started cutting hair in my teens, I was just watching videos non stop about everything cutting hair! This bought back memories, I ended getting the detailers bc of this video!💯
Do you know if the Andis Styliner M3 with the magnesium housing would be a better choice over the Andis Superliner? The M3 is supposed to be the best trimmer Andis makes but I'm sure that's why it costs so much.
yo I feel the exact same way with the t edgers about not getting them to cut right. I been using them for years just because, but everyone else in my shop uses detailers and now I see why. I thought it was just me, but I'm glad you notice it too. And they do get hot REAL quick...getting those detailers ASAP
Hey man I just bought the 5 star detailer today from Sally's. On the box it says new blade now 1/4" wider. Is this the new one that was suppose to be coming out this month? It cuts close but only had a little stubble so I cant really tell yet. Blade is adjustable, but I think it comes from the factory preset already to be sharp enough, if this is the new model. If it were adjusted to zero gap I think the new blade would definitely slice you up. Let me know man
@weezcheez Do you recommend getting new blades sharpened, and if yes, which ones(outliner II square, wahls Detailer, etc)? I order new clippers for school and would like to know your opinion.I have the outliner II, t-outliner, wahls detailer, and m3 styliner.
thanks you for your review, I work at Sally beauty and my favorite thing to sale is the detailer vs the t-outliners. it's just a big difference in sharpness, weight, and vibration, and really all that matters to me.
I had to give you the thumbs up bro. Nice review after 3 of em you had em lined up with the competition then you put them to face the wall and shot em dead. I always loved fresh lines and the feeling of chilling in the barbershop learning life. But my barber of 15 years fell off. Always drinking in the shop and taking breaks never want to cut. So it might be a blessing because I'm going to get serious about cutting my hair and maybe others. ~Outta Bklyn
You are right about the t-liner not hittin good. The problem with the superliners to me is that I can not zero gap them to save my life. I even got a blade setter and I still can't get it right.
I talked to Ivan Zoot about getting the old blade on the new bracket for the Superliner, he told me to just take the back blade off of the T-Outliner and put in on the Superliner but keep the cutting blade. That's the old blade set with the new bracket. It worked out pretty good for me too. However, they still don't have the power of the Detailer.
The reason I say that is because it didnt come with a blade adjustment tool. but it had everything else. Just if you want to adjust to zero you can but Im thinking it was made better so you wouldnt have too.
Thanks man ... I have bought the machine before 4 monthes and I'm not happy about it . my clients said that the machine is hurt them and really painful on the skin . so I cant use it well ... I really disspointaed that I choice to buy it .
Martavius Echols I'm not shaving with the Machine , I use it only for guide line behind and on the front . but I got a problem on my Blade ... It's sharp and hurts only on one side of the blade . The right side of the blade is hurts , and the left is not ... What should I do ? Maybe I have to adjusting the blade ? or when I bought the blade they gave me bad blade or something ? I really don't know
I've got a simple question for you! whats a good pair of clippers to just shave all my hair off and get as close to bald as possible?? and how much you think they would go for?
I just purchased a new blade for my Andis T-Outliners. I used it once to cut a baldy on myself. I then went back to use it again and the first initial contact that came into my face/skin (and every contact after that) it stung like hell! The teeth of the blades did not move. The blade is even with each other (slightly). They are still in the same position (no moving or altered). What is wrong with these clippers?
@lilbrim21 We move blades to satisfy the pickiest of clients that want an ultra crisp line. If you are the only one using this trimmer and you are satisfied with the results there is no need to move them. But you can always experiment, however if you don't really know how just leave them alone.
Can I use any of these to shave my face for a close shave? I'm trying to quick using razors because of razor bumps.. I looked at Wahl Professional 8081 5-star Series Trimmer and the Wahl Professional 785110 5-star Series Balding Clipper and can't tell which is better.
the sallys where im at didnt have the detailers i want them i just got the andis t outliners today cut a few ppl and yeah it gets really hot fast but the cut quality to me is nice its one of my first good trimmers i cant complain it works nice but i want the detailer
@uppadeck yep I swapped out my superliners they just weren't worth keeping to me. Got a second pair of detailers. But who knows all these damn things act different. I never got an andis t-outliner to cut how I want, I went to my barbershop friday and used one of the barbers t-outliners and they cut incredibly.
@WeezMcCheez I been using andis t-line n outliners for years and i finally got the detailers, because a couple of my partners uses them. I use my eyeball all these years as well, just was looking for new ideas. But keep doing ya thing, much success to you.
I found my andis liner hit way better after a adjusted the tension spring to the center of the blades gap because I had the same problem with the andis products
@rjburston I honestly pull out the Outliner for that or the Andis pro foil. I don't know if it's cuz the Andis is better or just cuz of me balding out with that for over 15 yrs
@BluCheeze40 Man that would be hard to explain. There are videos of the process on UA-cam. It also depends on which blade type you have there are 2. I zero'd mine and they still couldn't come close to the detailer. Do a little hunting on UA-cam it's not hard to find. Also check out my other videos. Just posted one of the brand new Detailer with the wide blade.
@heemie02 I would test them first and sharpen only if you need to. Detailer shouldn't need sharpened they come very sharp but test the others and if your not good at setting the blades have someone do that becuz that's just as important.
as for traditional t outliners and outliners II hell no them things get to hot for comfort and im fast at giving that nice crisp line up trust me within 3 mins its to hot...u have to modify them to much to help with the heat issue as far as magnetic trimmers go my 2 go to trimmers are the wahl razor edger(super sharp) and the andis styliner IIs(mega powerful) and both of these machines gives that nice sharp chalk out effect and like i say i no how to zero gap anything ...thats an art in itself
@lilbrim21 You have the new version. They are never set at zero gap at the factory. The new version did not come with a tool. Most real barbers don't use a setter anyway. Take the blade off and gap it yourself. Sounds like your shaving with yours and not lining, if so I would suggest you leave them factory set.
well he just basically said the superliners suck, maybe they have a purpose for a certain type of hair depending who that target customer is. But compare the Detailer v. M3 I'd like to know . To think last year I wanted to know the diff. btween the Styliner 2 and T-outliner.
the main thing is the blade if you have a thin and sharp blade you'll be able to make a nice and crispy line, you should check Alex Cambell video good luck and personally I wouldn't get rid of those andis, you have to fix that blade that's it
@WeezMcCheez mane...soon as I asked that question I was looking at my trimmers and figured it out...they on point now...just pop the blade out and adjust the blade and BOOM!!
The reason your andis superliner is not giving you the performance you would like to see is because they are the new model superliners (the shitty one i also bought, which was a huge mistake). There main models for the superliners (besides color). the old (first model) was way more powerful than this new shitty one. If im not mistaken, your superliner probably says it runs off of 4.5 watts? The old model ran off of 13 watts, so thats probably the reason the new one sucks so bad:(
Hi, I have the wahl t-liners, I've had them for over a year now and never had a problem until I packed them away wet. Then they went rusty. So I bought new blades and as they weren't cutting I've tried to adjust but o don't have the tools. Do u have any ideas on what I can do to get them cutting and aligned right please? 😊
Jak Coleman take them to a barbershop or blade sharpener in your area if you can't get it right. Take it to your barber I do it for my clients for free.
@makuwalkbowlegg Well you know what's up then. If you got them new you should have got the tool in the box. It's all personal preference... The tool does work well. Much success to you as well thx!
i take meticulous care of my tools, Ive had the andis super liners for about two montgs and its already making real loud rattles grumbling noises..whats wrong with it?
WeezMcCheez Wow thanks for the lightning fast reply. No i do not know how to do that, perhaps i can watch a video on how to do it. So do you still reccomended the wahl detailers or is there anything better on the market now?
GseWorldwide I'm sorry I thought you said "styliners" the "superliner has no power screw... I would say check and tighten the blade... does it rattle with blade off? If not abdvtightening doesn't work, purchase a new blade
WeezMcCheez yeah even when the blade is off the little spinning rotor does not sound smooth its very grumbled and rattle sounding. i have messed with tightening and it does nothing at all. i think it may be inside the clipper idk.
@tariqziyad that meant to say the 20 yrs barber can't use a razor. Also my old barber was cutting for years and he can't use a razor on himself but can on his customers, so there's different types of barbers out there. But me bruh, nom problem
The superliner and the detailer both work the same ...the detailers blade is a little bit more sharper and cuts thru anything and the superliner has trouble with baby hairs but if your a barber you should be able to zero gap any machine regardless if brand there is too much bias with machine...u need a mixture of all to et the best cut
@tariqziyad I know a barber that has been cutting for 20 yrs and he can use a razor lol, I been cutting for 16yrs an I use a razor on myself una mean. But a lot of people are arguing that the superliner can't cut or is too sharp. If yu adjust it right then it will be real sharp and you can apply more pressure without cutting someone. The detailer is very sharp with the t-wide blade but you have to be light with it which is cool. So like you said bruh, true barbers adjust their techniques
All in all I'd say you're right. That slightly changed until I bought the gtx blade for my T outliners. They T wide blade on the detailers and the gtx blade serves different purposes. Oddly enough when I cut course curly hair the gtx blade on the andis cuts better. On straight fine hair the wahls detailers cuts better.
Nah they hit you need to zero Gap your t outliners they hit big time but no effort tap tap tap you need to zero got them puppies take that blade off zero-gap it and it'll be the best thing you have on your line besides the detailers
That’s dope. Wish I knew then UA-cam would have made me rich if I would have kept going lol
Yea main....feel you on those superliners...I got the inferno red...question...how do you zero gap these? Maybe if I did that l would keep em....
Thanks for the great review you've helped me make a decision on which one to purchase. Whal 5-star Series Detailer
Glad you found it helpful
+WeezMcCheez hey bro, for beard lineups cleanups Detailer or Outliner 2?
+S Saini really either one but if I had to say one the Detailer... Then when you can grab a t-outliner/outliner II So you can have both
I just got the Wahl Detailer yesterday, ill see what it do.
What you use to adjust the blade on it,or you take it some where to get it adjusted?
Hey man I just bought the 5 star detailer today from Sally's. On the box it says new blade now 1/4" wider. Is this the new one that was suppose to be coming out this month? It cuts close but only had a little stubble so I cant really tell yet. Blade is adjustable, but I think it comes from the factory preset already to be sharp enough, if this is the new model. If it were adjusted to zero gap I think the new blade would definitely slice you up. Let me know man
Great video brotha . I cut my own hair and I like crisp lines . Would you suggest wahl detailer over andis gtx
@weezcheez Do you recommend getting new blades sharpened, and if yes, which ones(outliner II square, wahls Detailer, etc)? I order new clippers for school and would like to know your opinion.I have the outliner II, t-outliner, wahls detailer, and m3 styliner.
yep they have come with the new switch for over a year. or take an old pair to your local barber supply/repair and have them put on a new front case
Yeah I got the same problem with the blades getting too hot. I have seen that barbers are switching to the red detailer. Great vid
thanks you for your review, I work at Sally beauty and my favorite thing to sale is the detailer vs the t-outliners. it's just a big difference in sharpness, weight, and vibration, and really all that matters to me.

You are right about the t-liner not hittin good. The problem with the superliners to me is that I can not zero gap them to save my life. I even got a blade setter and I still can't get it right.
Are the 5-star Wahl Detailers strong enough to bald out on bald fades or are they good for strictly line-ups?
I talked to Ivan Zoot about getting the old blade on the new bracket for the Superliner, he told me to just take the back blade off of the T-Outliner and put in on the Superliner but keep the cutting blade. That's the old blade set with the new bracket. It worked out pretty good for me too. However, they still don't have the power of the Detailer.
@WeezMcCheez No im not lining. I bought them to edge up my beard, neckline, and mustache. So, is factory good enough for that?
The reason I say that is because it didnt come with a blade adjustment tool. but it had everything else. Just if you want to adjust to zero you can but Im thinking it was made better so you wouldnt have too.
So the Wahl 5 star Deatailer is the best one from all your machines ?
Thanks man ... I have bought the machine before 4 monthes and I'm not happy about it .
my clients said that the machine is hurt them and really painful on the skin .
so I cant use it well ... I really disspointaed that I choice to buy it .
ron d They're sharp, you gotta know how to use them. Hope you're not shaving with them because they'll definitely hurt doing that.
Martavius Echols I'm not shaving with the Machine , I use it only for guide line behind and on the front .
but I got a problem on my Blade ... It's sharp and hurts only on one side of the blade .
The right side of the blade is hurts , and the left is not ... What should I do ?

detailed or styliner 2 ??

Jak Coleman UA-cam and a small screw driver. There's has to be hundreds of videos of how to do this
yeah ive looked, alot of them have an adjusting tool and i found one video that does it without but it didnt work.
The problem i have is i can not align the new blades for my wahl detailers.
Jak Coleman take them to a barbershop or blade sharpener in your area if you can't get it right. Take it to your barber I do it for my clients for free.
Steven soto thanks i don't know why i never thought of that. I'll do that. ☺
great video man
Ay i just cut my hair and my lil bro hair so the trimmer gettn hot aint a problem, we african american,,so whats the best trimmer i should get???
@makuwalkbowlegg Well you know what's up then. If you got them new you should have got the tool in the box. It's all personal preference... The tool does work well. Much success to you as well thx!
More edge for straighter lines
Thanks for you review.
Thumbs up.

WeezMcCheez Wow thanks for the lightning fast reply. No i do not know how to do that, perhaps i can watch a video on how to do it. So do you still reccomended the wahl detailers or is there anything better on the market now?
GseWorldwide I was going to say "watch a video..."/// also yes I still use a detailer as my favorite and I've owned every trimmer imaginable
GseWorldwide I'm sorry I thought you said "styliners" the "superliner has no power screw... I would say check and tighten the blade... does it rattle with blade off? If not abdvtightening doesn't work, purchase a new blade

I like the superliners gtx styleliners ll wit the gold blade
@makuwalkbowlegg I use my eyeballs potna!
Why does my detailer hurt when i use it
the Outliners take a lotta time to finally getthat blade right, the Wahls set easy and NEVER get hot!
The superliner and the detailer both work the same ...the detailers blade is a little bit more sharper and cuts thru anything and the superliner has trouble with baby hairs but if your a barber you should be able to zero gap any machine regardless if brand there is too much bias with machine...u need a mixture of all to et the best cut
thanks for the info brother
@sangrex2 I use the wahl balding
@WeezMcCheez hahaha damn!!! @ potna, mybad if i ask the wrong question.
Does anybody know if he had that T wide blade on the detailersm
Them Detailers is the shit, just got hip, they put my cuts on beam!
@tariqziyad I know a barber that has been cutting for 20 yrs and he can use a razor lol, I been cutting for 16yrs an I use a razor on myself una mean. @MohammedMohammed21 Appreciate that cuz! I'm gonna try and keep em coming. Subscribe!
@talme002 It's perfect for bald fades
@302930 Glad I could help
well go online (ebay amazon atlanta barber) order it!
@makuwalkbowlegg Naw you good mine came with a tool, but I eye ball it cuz I been doing it almost 20 yrs so I'm an O.G.!!!
Wahl makes crappy trimmers! Real good clippers! Andis is top dog when it comes to trimmers! But wahl senior beats any andis product for fading
@302930 This is a Wahl dealer near Chicago. They ship (708) 385-0714.
Buy an andis gtx...then talk to me...best trimmer ever
All in all I'd say you're right. That slightly changed until I bought the gtx blade for my T outliners. They T wide blade on the detailers and the gtx blade serves different purposes.
