  • On Monday, April 10, 2023, Drs. John Fadial and Chi-Chen Wu will perform the complete works for violin and piano by French composer, Gabriel Fauré. The concert will take place in the BCPA Recital Hall and will be performed on period instruments, including: The UW Music Department’s historic Broadwood piano from 1858 (newly restored by Tim Wirth), and a replica of Henri Vieuxtemp’s famous Guarneri violin, strung with authentic gut strings.
The program will feature music from every period of Fauré’s life, culminating in his final violin sonata, that would usher in the modernism of his students, who included Maurice Ravel, and Nadia Boulanger, who later would teach Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, and Astor Piazzola. This concert will present Laramie audiences with an opportunity to hear Wu and Fadial before they make the historic first complete recording of these works on period instruments at Cornell University in May 2023!
