Thank baby Jesus I actually got to witness the Ramones play live! Front row center because I pushed and shoved my way through the crowd. I screamed Joey so many times and he looked at me and gave me a nod! R.I.P. to Joey and DeeDee.
I was in the music biz. Saw 'em over a dozen times thru the years beginning near half century ago. Joey was a sweetheart. Royalty in the NYC clubs. Shy but always approachable. Dee Dee on the streets (not so approachable lol). Likewise Deb n Chris, David, Tina, Chris... Big city, small scene. They remembered your face from the shows. For decades!
Is your name Riff Randall by any chance? Lol that's awesome. I didn't get to see them until 1997 lalapalooza we drove all the way from San Antonio told dallas because that was the only time my highschool buddies and me were going to get to see them, unfortunately i was born in 78, and i didn't get to see them in their primes, but my parebt did, twice. 77, and 79. I think i was conceived after a Ramones show. Lol
To clarify: The Rivingtons 'Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow' 1962. The Rivingtons 'The Bird's The Word' 1963. The Trashmen 'Surfin' Bird' 1963. The Deviants (Mick Farren - Wiki for details!) 'Pappa Oo Mao Mao' (get it?) 1969. The Ramones 'Surfin' Bird' 1977. The Cramps 'Surfin Bird' 1978. Thanks for posting and info. Great song to history dive. All worthy listens available on YT. Enjoy.
I had one of the 45 rpms of the KINGSMEN version of this song and I used drive my parents nuts cranking it up and hopping around my room with a fake SEARS Stratocaster pretending to play along. Such a fun song.
Coulda been a Ramones fan who didn't like this audio. I mean, you can't hear John's guitar very well here. ... Not that dislikes even *work* anymore as of early 2022.
The Revingtons with Virgil Gibson are the Originals of this Ripped off song; they were the originals that everyone ripped off including “the trash men,Ramones, and cramps. This song was created by “Black Artists” we should all thank “Black History” for inspiring everyone else including your favorite the ramones and The Beach Boys. I barely found this out; glad I did. All credits deserved go to “the revvingtons” Shoutout to Virgil Gibson. Y’all need to do your rock n roll history some more. The black history of rock n roll and punk needs to be brought out to light.
Dude. We know. Joey, Johnny, DeeDee and Thingy knew too, and gave appropriate credit. They never _once_ claimed the song was theirs. Covering a song is not the same as 'ripping it off.'
Btw if blacks invented rocknroll and punk then why is all of the best rocknroll and punk made by white people? And why did black people abandon it after supposedly creating it? It's all BS.

I got to see them play live, too, many years ago. They took the stage after midnight, looking like the living dead

Dee Dee was so hot at some particular (and only one) point in history

You saying he was a jew? Christ o mighty.
@jmp01a24 What's your problem? He's one of many jewish rock musicians and singers.
@@TheBalls55 It's a problem if you read the news You one of those who support Israel? Or are you like a Joey/Cross type?
@jmp01a24 I support Israel like Joey and his family ,Geddy Lee and Red hot Chilli peppers.
@@TheBalls55 Red hot Chilli peppers? You mean their dead guitarist that was on the first album that took them nowhere?

Coulda been a Ramones fan who didn't like this audio. I mean, you can't hear John's guitar very well here. ... Not that dislikes even *work* anymore as of early 2022.

so thanks to the slavery we have that music you could say?
Dude. We know.

Even if it did come from black people, the Ramones did it WAY better!

Cut. Print. Terrible.
sory but it's the worst version of this song, original and sodom's are so much better
