As someone who receives a social security check every month I can tell you that the Tinny Little increase that we get for cost of living is taken out via an increase in our Medicare deductible and our Medicare co-pays simultaneously

The social security entitlement is still less than a living local commute. They never send enough money to reliably pay the rent but will not send a check if you do not have an address. This is true even if you have auto deposit. The normal legal minimum entitlement or minimum wage or minimum standard of living is 4 times the rent for one bedroom apartment local commute. In California they usually send at maximum one half poverty line or one half the minimum standard of living.
