2:43 The infinite reaches of space A realm of silent light Stars die, and stars are born Yes. The universe is alive But at this moment The end is near for one planet
warbird1786 4 years ago I was also impressed and a little upset with this movie such as the only thing that I really didn't like about the movie was the Heroic Main Protagonist dying at the end where he should have used an escape pod or shuttle to escape at the last moment. WHY DIDN'T HE?!
I agree, loved the movie. I would put it up there with the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, in terms of a successful reboot. My only complaint was a I felt a bit cheated without any real Gamilans and Abelt Dessler. If done right, he would’ve been incredible in live action form.
Quantum Shock Hood (for WW2) was pretty poor - Best British ship of WW2 was the Nelson class (HMS Nelson & HMS Rodney) easily - could outclass anything except perhaps a Yamato
At about 3:12 i can imagine the yamato rising up from the ocean at the end of its mission to save earth and flying into space to serve as a vessel in which protects earth from the gamilas and their weapons and help escort fleet's with transports
It was good for a compressed version of the original first season of the TV show. then they went and made a full animated remake with Uchu Senkan Yamato 2199 and blew everything previous out of the water.
I was only reminded about this movie's existence today, and I only watched the show years after when my stepdad was like "I used to watch anime too, son" but I'm interested in checking this out. I don't know if this is the movie's main theme, but I do like how it sneaks a little bit of the anime's theme song right before the female vocalizing, then once more right at the end. I feel like a lot of adaptations of famous properties we grew up with, even if they become their own thing, it'd be nice to have a little bit of a musical nod.

Star trek was the opposite, only one series was animated. You forget something, there's more than one series. The original series, Yamato 2199 sub & dub (which is in progress), 2202, the films (movies) including the resurrection, and the 2010 movie. Star trek and Uchuu Senkan Yamato is rather similar.
just to clarify I am not saying that anime in general is shit, nor that the plot of the yamato anime series was shit but the fact that the drawings don't do this ship and her crew justice
+Kevin Webb If you look closely to the first scene in the star trek and the ending scene of space battleship Yamato, it's almost the same. I don'r know if that's accidental or not.
Star trek + Star Wars + Battlestar Galactica + Epic Japanese acting...stop complaining and love this movie that has all the good stuff from everything.
I never said that,I am merely implying that it has similarities to these things. And even then,so what I thought it was one of the most epic things I've seen lately...even more epic than Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl...
@Buemmo Uh... no there are several other sci-fi shows and movies that came before, but that doesn't mean SBY isn't awesome because of it. SBY is also one of the most original of the series compared to what we have today.
For the most part you are correct however one slight mistake. Starship enterprise is exploring the galaxy not defending it other than that you are correct.
In TOS, they still were on the watch against possible Klingon incursions. Federation starships are about defending the Federation as much as exploring the neighbourhood. Without those, the Federation wouldn't stand a chance.
Grew up w/ the animated series, watched it every morning before school...this live action adaption was SPECTACULAR, one of the best 'movie versions' I've ever seen...was like revisiting my childhood on steroids...plus, this soundtrack was fantastic....
However you can not state that the Enterprise was defending the galaxy, and the series did not have that feel, it was focused on other things such as exploration and had great ideological significants.
"Star Wars is basically Star Trek with a lot [two words, mind] of changes." That's like saying "This grass is like a cow, with a lot of changes." NOTHING is absolutely original. What's original is how we organize and reorganize the old ideas.
I'm a major fan of Uuchu senkan Yamato, but, honestly this movie is far from my favorite, i honestly regard it as the worst yamato related content i've seen
+Sonic The Hedgehog I'm a big music fan and band enthusiast, and it sounds to me, based on y'all's comments, that most of the money from the movie I never even heard of went to the making of the soundtrack xD That's an assumption, though.

So many ppl say this film sucks but for me the best Japanese film with epic music in recent 10 years.
It was good for a compressed version of the original first season of the TV show. then they went and made a full animated remake with Uchu Senkan Yamato 2199 and blew everything previous out of the water.

Maybe because of the ending (it was taken from Farewell Yamato)

this music gives me chills .... I love it!
and the opening scene of the film is epic:)
Salutes - may one mans sacrifice be remembered ... And the ship that carried our hopes .. - looks down - R.i.p kota ... And yamato
I agree, great theme. I will probably have to track this down, preferably with subtitles, because the original cartoon series blew my mind as a kid.

This is the main theme, and yes, it is awesome!
The female vocals are also a staple of the series - the song is called "The Unknown Universe".

The movie was conflicting for me, good stuff but not as memorable as the anime, but the music in it is worth mentioning. Uchuu Senkan Yamato!
Yeah, and seeing Yamato in glorious 3D was worth it, even if so much had to be cut to make it movie-length.

@BIO239 but it is a lot older than both of em!
the Enterprise explored the Ggalaxy in Star Trek, rather than defend it from any one "evil"
