This is a wonderful coincidence! I just wrote of how I studied the drum performance on Dreams Burn Down, and here on another masterpiece of the Ride collection they are even more evident. Easy to get lost in the twin guitars singing to one another and what makes this possible is the drummer. He is truly a star of the scene and of any scene, really. Want to bring waking dreams to life? Listen to Ride, and man did thiey ever capture the advance of their sound with this KEPX live its the studio. Drums make a song.
@@josyposy1626 having played on 4 no 1, albums, 6 million record sales, he looks like he has been playing a month so so so simple, any one can play drums like that....
I'm so pleased that they still sound so amazing. Their 1992 Brixton Academy performance of this song is one of my favorite live performances of all time, and this is on par with that performance. Just lovely. Unfortunately I wasn't born yet when that performance took place, so I'm flying across the country to see them this summer, and it seems it'll be well worth it!
***** I agree on Brixton. One of the best concert films of all time. Great sound, camerawork and vibe, and one of the biggest sounding songs ever recorded.
one of the best bands that ever came out of my generation of indie back in the early 90's. so happy they have reforemed and their new album is unfuckingreal. amazing musicians and song writers
Very grateful to KCRW for letting us see our favourite songs played live. As an amateur musician it's really interesting and helpful to see how a song is actually played. I've watched this several times before, but only this time noticed that Steve plays some of his bass parts with his plectrum, but the end bit with his fingers. I'm hoping to get a bass to give it a go at some point. As a guitar player, I could've done with the camera set up to see what Andy was playing towards the beginning. Great shots of Loz's drumming, I've always loved that bit where the drums kick in after the keyboard sample. So it was great to see how he plays it. It's almost like we could do with a split screen with each musician to follow their parts.
Fucking Epic. This song made me feel better than any drug ever did. I was never able to keep my hand off the volume knob....I'd just keep cranking it up until the amps started clipping.
great to see these guys back.Influenced my music taste and instrument playing so much from the age of 16. This makes me feel young again, Nowhere is a kick ass debut ablumn only outdone by their 4 previous eps. Ground breaking influential band, i look forward to seeing thrm ireland this summer.
Just saw them in Toronto 2 days ago and they sounded so fantastic. You should break laws to get to one of their concerts this summer. I've seen My Bloody Valentine twice and this concert was 5x as good.
First time I saw Ride live at First Avenue in MPLS the sound was swirling around the venue in a circular way and I thought I’d gone to heaven. I still don’t know how to describe this music to friends who don’t get it. Shoegaze just doesn’t describe it. Long live Andy Bell.
Still cool after all these years!I played this song over and over when I graduated college....an emotional epic killer of a song....the bass line has always given me chills!
saw them in Lyon tonight and this studio version can't touch the live one they put out.. but Drive Blind's 10 minute sonic wave effect stunned the crowd into amazement.. never heard such a thing by any other band.. it was on another plane
Yeah he doesn't look great eh, but some people lose their hair and we all put on a bit of weight. I remember the joint gig they did with the Charlatans with Tim Burgess and Mark from Ride on the front cover of the NME and they both looked super fucking cool....When we ALL had long hair.....
@@davidarmstrong1666 If you watch some more recent videos, he has actually lost weight and is in better shape. As for the hair, it happens to a lot of people, not a big deal.
saw them live in SF this week and they were ferocious, everyone. i love kcrw gigs but i'd say this performance is before they've properly woken up and had a cup of tea, sort of a laid back early morning run-through-the-songs ride.
Making me wanna build myself a studio in my garden and teach myself to play every part! Inspiring to even an ol' middle-aged bird having a mid life crisis (presuming I make it to 94 that is!! Which is highly doubtful the way I'm going!)
Needed more jangle in there. Mark had the fuzz going but no jangling. Otherwise, my fave band of all time. Caught them live in 92 as part of the Going Blank Again tour in Sydney. I will never forget it.
+ian Stewart .I TOTALLY AGREE..there was a snippet where they all looked like the music was playing through them..vessels....spinetingling joy to see those moments
Indeed. They really are an in sync bunch; loving what they do. One of the best live bands I have seen and their albums still on regular rotation after 20 odd years.
Rideeee !! yesss! but got to agree about the overall live mix...its make no justice to the volatile and sophisticated sound of a band like Ride. But anyways, its a great pleasure to watch they live !!!!!!
Through an accident of birth and no fault of our own we had to live thru' two of the all time shittest decades known to man (70's & 80's) Then we got the Creation records roster and it made it all worth it.
i think thats a Jazz master american blue headstock well metallic blue anyways mine got stolen from in 94 how funny it would be if Mr. Gardners was the same one uhh getting sick to my stomach thinking about it took me 8 months saving for that beauty
it's missing that undercurrent in the beginning. this is not messy and fuzzy, but he'll, this ain't bad. this is isn't embarrassing. this is ride in form.
If this performance equals what the shoegaze version is to their live performance, than every shoegaze hit has a hidden Pink Floyd epic inside ... unplayed for some reason
Fucking amazing. The drummer from Ride has always been grossly underrated.
I know you wrote this 2 yrs ago but I totally agree. How did he learn to drum like that?! And where do I sign up for lessons?!
This is a wonderful coincidence! I just wrote of how I studied the drum performance on Dreams Burn Down, and here on another masterpiece of the Ride collection they are even more evident. Best since K Moon IMO , many will list others , though Loz has so much style , skill , & power , his FILLS are where most drummers hit ONCE!
@@malterwitty5433 Loz's style is very similar to K Moon, that lazy, laid back technique.

One of the great songs of the 90's and it's almost 10 minutes of quality Rock & Roll. 🎸 !
Chills man. Still sounds as good as they day I first heard it.
This is one of the best Indie tracks of the 90's....Along with the Wedding present's Seamonsters album. Both underated as quality shoe gazing !!!!!

***** cool!
***** Are you sure he wasn't talking about Reading Festival 92. His voice seems muffled on that gig. Still a great gig though
+Kate Biggs I was there! totally agree
This song always felt like an intense trip - Amazing performance

Some of the best music to come out of the UK in the 1990s

Total class tune from a class band

Amen brother!
exactly. I'm sure this song damaged my hearing more that any song ever.
I was old when Ride began. I hadn't heard a Ride tune since forever and this song. I've played it 10+ times in last few days. I am impressed as hell.
Stefan Marraccini so much perfection! Love it... always! 💗
Stefan Marraccini I can’t agree with the first part, but I agree with the rest. It’s epic
I still streamline Rides Videos. One of my favorite bands. Great Music Great singing Great Guitar. I'm amazed that they sound so Great still.
One of THE best indie tracks of the 90’s

effortlessly cool and excellent
Ride rides again...so freakin' happy inside!
KCRW my lifeline. Epic Ride.
Love you soooo much guys, thanks for not letting me down! xx
Still sounding amazing ,actually better!
Stunning! Can't wait to see them in Amsterdam next month.
same here!
I love the way Gardener plays and sings his heart out. Andy always looked strange to me, specially when playing outside the studio.
fantastic
I have waiting for Ride to get back together ,, and look forward to catching them live ,, hope they come come to Ca. LA or San Francisco ,,
Man I miss Ride. I need to see them in the states on their next tour.
Just watched Upside Down documentary and feel in love with these guys
Man, Mark has aged...makes me feel well old...Once we were both fresh faced, long haired youths....

Isn't it?
old Mark looks more handsome than young Mark to me.
actually I'm not really a fan of their old look. if talking about 90s style, I prefer Oasis over Ride
this instantly brought my youth back
That is some amazing drumming.
Excellent

So good. Just saw then last week and they were awesome
One of my favorites. good times. prime example of the so-called 'Shoegazer" sound. Manchester, England, UK .
m michels in this case from Oxford, actually. ;) But yeah - absolute legends.
Nice song and make me feel so good
MASSIVE SHOEGAZING going on here
Where my Shoegazers at. Loved the whole scene and Ride were at the front. Goosebumps. X
whooooooo welcome back!
Im. So. Happy.
Grandissimi!
Always had this and twisterella on nearly every indie compilation tape I had. Totally takes me back to taking acid in the early 90s
Brilliant
MAGIC!!!❤XXX
Love this!
WHAT?! Thank you so much for posting this.
Saw this tour back in 1991? Rock Candy Seattle, epic
Shoe gazing at its best
great tune
The Bass player has not aged one day !!!???
Nor Loz.
Saw them several times in the 90's whilst they would often tour with Lush in the states.
Just like oasis, first album, first track, job done! I always remember this track for the best white boy band "bass break"ever!!

fuck yes!
Top 5 90’s album! Before everyone was in a band , EVERYONE LOL 😆
I'm in two ! ! !
they bare good i like there rock an roll vibe
Sound exactly the same as they did in the 90s!
Going blank again 🔥🔥🔥

that blue Jaguar has such a nice fucking sound!
❤❤❤ Bonnie Belle 🎉😮😅
I think it sounds good. it's not polished like a CD, but sounds good to me
как же меня завораживает эта песня. жаль только, что Марка Гарденера время так потрепало
why not the original significant bassdrum figure?
come on turn the guitar up a bit.
The comments are right here. A less than edgy performance and muddy mix of an absolutely brilliant song.
I think a bit echo effect to drums would be good.
Steve doesn’t get enough credit , to play bass around loz’s drums is difficult… but his timing is superb
so what? We grow up, we grow older... still the best.
