Thankyou for uploading these great videos they are helping me learn more and more about the hydrographics and hopefully some time soon i will be able to try all these out :)
The problem I get is that the colors just seem more dull and not as vibrant? I was dipping your joker faces film and the darks were fade. I had like one or two small pinholes around the part. Happens to my carbon fiber as well
Great video as always Bryan..👍.. man I can't even count how many times I've underactivated film.. it's all part of the game, knowing your gun (or can) is huge in these cases.. I always take advantage of practice passes on masking paper to see how the gun (or can) flows/patterns and what needs to be done to correct it.. No matter what, it's takes doing it alot to be proficient at it as you said.. keep up the good work and excellent product line..✌️
How big of a deal is water temp when dipping? what does the higher vs lower temps do to the reaction and process? I had a film dissolve when I hit it with the activator and I didn't think I had hydrated it for more than about a minute and I was thinking it was probably water that was too warm. Definitely wasn't fully activated either ;D
Thank you. This video helped. What are your thoughts about putting the film in a masking tape frame before placing it into the water? Huge help or hinderance?
What happened at 12:00 when he was putting the tape on the property dipped part I thought he was going to show us that it won’t lift the film from the part but then it just disappeared and went on to show us the underactivated part fail 🤔🤔
Maybe just editing error but he has a point. If you activate it well it won’t lift maybe you get some small specks here and there but generally it’s all good
Do you have a video with carbon film waving once activated? I’ve been trying to find one and I’m going nuts trying to figure out why my film slightly starts getting waves once activated.
Too much disruption. Rattle cans are notorious for that. If it’s a gun, back the air off a bit or hold further back. Also try tightening up the barriers.
Hello. You guys are great! I'm learning a lot from your videos. I wanted to ask what you are holding the speed shape with when you dip? Also, what can I hold an RC body with when I dip it?
Most of the time for the speed shapes we have applied a tape tab to the back to hold on too. Stay tuned we will be doing a video soon on dipping an RC body
I'm working on learning HG in my garage, I dipped my first test piece. I saw pin holes and immediately though "OOOH Liquid Concepts had a video about this!!" Thanks guys. Im gonna try it again using your tips and hopefully it comes out better!
Thanks, your videos have been pretty helpful, you and ATF hydrodipping. So I'm trying to use film on a pair of shoes (white DC villain slippers, faux leather), i cleaned them with alcohol to take off the finish. I tried dipping once and the film was pretty thick and didn't stick to my shoe at all, is that most likely under-activating or something else?
Sir, ive a request. Make 1 video that show different between over activator & under activator. Also how itll be if didnt give enough time to the film before spray the activator. So that a beginner like me can learn what cause a defect on my work. Please
So if u under active can u re-dip that part or do u have go thru the painting process first an if u do have to re do it do u clean it like u did the first time or is there a trick to get the film of without messing up the paint
I have been trying to dip my mini 14 stock for the past 4 days now. I have done everything you said. I prep the stock by heat treating it, I scuffed it up, I used One Hit Wonder all in one white spray paint, my water temp is 84.3 deg, I used ink drink spray can activator as directed and I still have tons of pin holes. What else can contribute to pin holes? Could it be a bad run of the film?
www.liquidconcepts.com/shop/product-detail/realistic-carbon-fiber Hope this helps. There is recommended base colors below the pricing table on our website. Thank you for watching !!
Perfect timing on posting this vid! I Tried my first dip today with your carbon fiber and had the pin holes. I def need to use more activator. Quick question, how much does the water temp affect the dip? I've been at 90 - 93 deg (I'm in south fl and its HOT here lol)
Here are a few things that can happen when over activated: * Pattern slides off or rinses off immediately after dipping or rinsing. * Pattern has distinct lines ( hesitation lines ). *Colors appear faded and not vibrant. Hope this helps.
Interesting, I'm also doing hydro dipping for some interieur parts of my BMW and when I touch the film right after the dipping it comes of again sometimes specially at the edges. Does that happen when I used to less activator?
if the film is coming off after you dip the part it sounds like not enough activator was applied to the part. Try applying more activator and see if that helps!
You don't have to use warm water but it will help rinse off the pva faster if your water is warm. As for custom film, just give us a call or email and we can print you any custom film you want! 501-455-5500 or info@liquidconcepts.com
What happened to the "properly dipped" one @ 11:50 you put tape on, then there was a alarm for someone at the door, scene cut, then it disappeared?
Man- you are a great teacher. I've learned TONS from watching your videos. Thanks good buddy!

would have loved to see "over" activated part as well. I need to suck it up and go to class with you.

@@Imaweirdoforyou yeah I wasn’t disagreeing with him point my film doesn’t come off if I tape it at all but I was wondering what happened
What about special order patterns, seems like it falls apart quickly
Excellent tips and advice 👍👍

Just remember the distance of 30cm between the film and gun while you activate
When rinsing it off what the water temperature should be
So just make sure to use the proper ammount of activator, Correct?

Can you do a video using a can activator or is the same way like u did with air compressor hydro dipping activator

Hi,how do you set up the gun for correct amount of activator
Nice and quality film, also the activator I hope there is something like that in the Philippines
So if u under active can u re-dip that part or do u have go thru the painting process first an if u do have to re do it do u clean it like u did the first time or is there a trick to get the film of without messing up the paint
do you have to scuff and prime the speed shapes? thanks
No, unless you want them a different color.

If the film don't peel off, just touch up the pin holes with paint
Do you have to clear coat every time?

Not that critical I did my first dips at 70 degrees and they came out fine. You just have to adapt your technique to your conditions
Great video! I have been having this exact problem.
Glad it helped!
Wish the on water difference was more visible. The momment right before you dipped the part
Just curious what do you put inside the speed shape to hold it while dipping?
What kind of activatater to use?

Idk why when I try to rinse my part off all my image comes off
Is there such a thing as to much activator?
Yes there definitely is! With too much activator the print can slide off after the dip
Interesting, I'm also doing hydro dipping for some interieur parts of my BMW and when I touch the film right after the dipping it comes of again sometimes specially at the edges. Does that happen when I used to less activator?

I'm in the same boat. Interior parts for my BMW. Third try was better, but still not good enough. Time to find more plastic pieces to practice.
Can u use too much activator? I mean just by going i little overboard I'd rather for that than get pinholes

ua-cam.com/video/A18TnPAPTkM/v-deo.html
Hope this helps. You can definitely use too much activator.
Hey man great videos I've get 2 questions when rinsing do you have to use warm water? How do you make custom prints

We’re can I find the speed shapes at
Here is a link where you can get them in black and white on our website. www.liquidconcepts.com/shop/product-group/supplies/speed-shapes
Do you leave the activator in the gun or do you have to clean out after every use, cool video dude
We leave the activator in the gun as it itself works as a cleaning agent.
@@LiquidConceptsUSA sound, thanks for replying mate
Is too much activator an issue?
Yes you can have issues of too much activator which can lead to the print slipping off the part.
@@LiquidConceptsUSA thanks 👍🏼
Do you sell fhe activator as well?
Yes we certainly do. Here is the link - www.liquidconcepts.com/shop/product-group/supplies/activator
Sería genial que dejara traducir al español
