Ahh, yeah, I see what you mean. There are so many nice knives available these days. I also reviewed the Elementum fixed and it's very fine but I found the handle to be a bit to slippery for me, and grip can be a big deal.
Great review. Isn't this a traditional tanto blade? Would prefer black with dark blade for a tactical edc appendix carry. Thanks for the precise measuements.
Thanks, that is a great question. It looks a bit like a Japanaese tanto in profile but in a Japanese tanto there is a very distinct bevel change near the tip. This webpage has a picture with a closeup of the tip - www.truekatana.com/products/21183/short-katana-handmade-japanese-tanto-sword-1045-carbon-steel-full-tang#&gid=1&pid=1
It's quite astonishing how bad the sharpening is done on some knives coming straight from the factory. You would think they would have perfected that part. It doesn't even matter what part of the world the knife comes from. The last few knives I ordered either came with an edge that had a burr or the sharpening angle was visibly different from one side to the other. Clearly they don't care, as long as it cuts. Either way, this is very disappointing, considering the price of some knives.
It's the reality of mass production. Most production run knives are hand sharpened - hence the inconsistency - but workers don't have the time to create a nice even edge. Some manufacturers are better than others (Civivi are normally ok but this one is not!! ). It would cost too much to get all blades perfect. Regardless, I always sharpen (and if needed profile) all my knives out of box just so I know exactly what I'm working with. Have a great day.
@jeffrey abrahamse I keep mine coated with a bt of food grade mineral oil so its always ready to cut edible stuff. I really enjoy it. I believe tat you will really like yours.

Good looking knife Jake! I like the false edge detail on this knife. 👍
Thanks Logan. Yes, that false edge looks good and it aided a fair bit in the puncture tests that I did.
I really like this one. Though I'm on the fence between this one and the elementum fixed

I like the satin and it seems like the right size for me . Have a Great Night Friends 🗡🙏🏻
Thanks for watching and leaving your perspective Craig.

This will sharpen nice on my shapton stones
It should work just fine.
Easy to switch the clip to left handed carry?
Yes, it just takes removing two screws, and turning it to the other side and replacing the screws.
Looks snazzy, I likes
I agree.

I've done videos about that, calling on other knife reviewers to help me raise awareness but most of them think it's a non-issue.
That edge is way below civivi standards 🧐
And for the price you'd expect a knife that can cut out of the box.
Two of the sharpest knives I've purchased are two Spydercos. Endura with K390; Yojimbo with CruWear.
