    Hey Reuben.
    I'm between the Stardboard 11'2 Blend Zen for windsurfing and the Starboard 11'2 Blend Deluxe SINGLE Chamber for windsurfing. There is at least 240 euros difference between the two boards. Do you think it's worth the investment? You have to take into account that in this case the construction is only single. I'm a bit afraid that Starboard might have changed the names in 2020 and the term Zen Lite might have changed to Zen and the term Zen might have changed to Deluxe Single Chamber, since the term Zen Lite hardly appears in 2020 on their website. If that model's Zen is of good quality, I think that 240 euros is too much money just to improve it a bit more. But I would very much like to know your expert opinion.
    Thanks a lot Reuben!

      You are right Starboard have change their construction names. But to be honest if you are using it for windsurfing you are better off trying to go for the stiffer more expensive board if you can afford it. The new Zen board is made of a linear drop stitch and is not welded at the rails or Woven dropstitch which is light but not as stiff as the new deluxe single chamber. Unless you are a lightweight rider I would really recommend paying the extra and going for the stiffer board, Deluxe single chamber . I hope that helps in some way thanks Reuben

    Hi Reuben, please help me out: 13'2'' Voyager or Starboard 14' Zen/SC Deluxe ? Which one would you choose for a 2 days tour (lake and small channels) ? Thanks in advance :-)

      Hey Robert. How much do you weight and how much kit do you want to take? Do you think you will be carrying the board at all? Just think about weights of boards.. A Zen is a great board for flat water paddling and where you may have to carry your board out of the water too. Voyager is the opposite ie, take loads of weight but heavier overall but very stiff. The DC starboard is like a board in the middle of stiffness and overall weight. But both the Starboards has a rail edge at tail. So i think that could be the deciding factor to go for a Starboard. Hope that helps? Thanks Reuben

    Hi Reuben, I know this video is a year old, but can’t find any on the 2021 Zen. Anyway, the zen drops 15mm in this video but 21mm in the 2017 one. Do you know where this extra stiffness has come from ? Thanks 🙏🏻

      Hey Barry. There's been a few big things that have really stiffend the boards over the past few years. Better materials are key.
      But if I remember righty the Zen lite now would be the similar board to the 2017 Zen. So they introduced a new price point board, so the old Zen was the cheaper price and now the new Zen is a better quality. So the new Zen lite will be closer to stiffness to the old Zen. Make sense? Probably not 😂, Thanks Reuben

      Starboard have stopped the Zen lite construction recently. Check out their website for constructions they use now: sup.star-board.com/inflatable-paddle-board-constructions/

    Hi Reuben. Could you help me with some advice in choosing between a Starboard 11.2 and a Gladiator 10.8. I’m a beginner paddler but a v experienced surfer. Which one of those would have a better stability in thinking that I’m going to take my 9 year old son with me sometime. I weigh around 90kg. Thanks for taking the time. Cheers

      @SUPboardermag  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah sure, well when you take your son out definitely having the wider gladiator will be a better and easier board. Probably when you're paddling on your own the starboard being 31 wide would offer you more glide and speed and you'll probably find it more enjoyable. But if you are not looking to paddle that far and maybe don't mind paddling a little bit slower over all the gladiator will still work for you without your son. But just like in surfing that extra width will slow the board down, but give you more stability. I would say just work out what your priorities are if you are looking to do more long distance cruising and maybe get into a bit more fitness paddling then the starboard would be better but if it's possibly paddling with your son 50% of the time then I would definitely go for the wider gladiator. The other compromise is going for a board at 32 wide?
      Hope this helps thanks Reuben

    i love my Airline, and everything that Starboard does. thing that i dont love though is the way they give you that "light weight" leash on every single board!!! have it on the zen light is fair enough, but any other board and you really need to upgrade to a proper leash straight away. And lets be honest, you pay more for a starboard and that silly little leash just feels a bit penny pinching.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  5 років тому +2

      Thanks for your comment. The leash does need up grading for most other paddling apart from nice flat-water conditions this is true. We really like using the leash for or flatwater testing and light wind paddles. Better than not getting it. But if the Deluxe came with a better leash it would be a really nice package I agree. Thanks Reuben

    Odd how quite a few less expensive boards seem to deflect less than these (judging by your reviews).

      Hey Rick
      Just remember that technology and construction is moving on pretty quickly so if you've watched a newer review recently those boards will probably be stiffer than previous top end brands now. This could be the case of what you were talking about? We have noticed that boards have become much differ in the last year. Does that make sense? Thanks Reuben

    I'm late to the party. I am hoping Starboard will do a Deluxe version of a 4.75" thickness board. I'm 70kg and better suited to a 4.75"

      @@SUPboardermag Wonder if you can clarify something about the 2022/2023 Tikhine Wave range. Recently, I was told the 2022/2023 Tikhine Wave range is now a Deluxe Construction. Is that correct?
