Jack in the Green

On the morning of May Bank Holiday Monday Jack-in-the-Green appears from the Fishermen's Museum in Hastings. Together with various Morris sides, the Bogies, the Sweeps, and Giants, they parade through the town. In the afternoon the gather at the Castle for dancing and the final slaying of Jack whose greenery is then dismembered and thrown to the audience.
