African instruments may have been the state of art. To this day their complexity is amazing. I love marimba Latin sounds and there seems to be a similarity.

In the picture the mbira on the left is called a nyunga nyunga mbira played by Dumisani Maraire, the mbira on the right side played by Ephat Mujuru is called the mbira dzavadzimu, which means voice of the ancestors.
