Before any homophobes/haters comment on the video... yall should go check out the new video of the Patch 6 update by the OFFICIAL Larian Studios account 😉 Thanks for this dislike on our video 😘
About Neil Newbon, Astarion’s actor, I’m pretty sure he’s straight and married) And there is also another cute scene! I myself didn’t get it, but I have seen a clip of two deep gnomes (both men) reuniting in the under dark, and their background banter is precious! One of them is like oh don’t fret over me it’s ok and the other replies with “I’m your husband! That’s my job”. ❤
In my currnet game, one of Thrin thunderd bolted Gale into the lava... (spoliers a ahead) and an aoe dot got barcus...... turn mode does not apply to that effect. They did not even do that in honor mode. Well I took the arch way as my high point and choke hold and defended that later.
@@borealwind Sorry, I was being unclear, I just meant he doesn't need to share anything he doesn't want to, didn't mean you were sharing anything private. Like sometimes people pressure straight-married people to confirm their sexuality or something.
It's nice to finally have a game where nonbinary/trans options don't feel like an afterthought. Most of the time, even when the devs try to include something, it ends up falling flat. Cyberpunk with voice dependant identity, Elden Ring where body types are named 1 and 2 but still come with non changeable he and she pronouns, etc
That's one if the many reasons we love this game so much!! Larian took their sweet time developing every aspect of this game, including Queer representation 😊 #SomeoneCookedHere
Astarion is the only one that you can definitely say is at least bi via storyline clues. He does openly express attraction to Wyll ( Especially if you're playing Karlach ) and does imply attraction toward female characters as well. I'd say Shadowheart does heavily imply attraction to women when you meet Karlach. "I like her. She looks like she could throw me over her shoulder and carry me to safety. Should....the need arise." Neil is just great. And has fully embraced Astarion, going as far as assimilating some of his personality quirks. Including the laugh. Neil also has a close bond to the character as an SA survivor himself ( Though he won't go into detail, he has said he's a survivor ) and playing Astarion actually helped him work through some of his own resulting issues. ( Unpause hoping you didn't discuss this after the point where I paused 6:00 to type because my ADHD said it had to be posted NOW. XD ) Edit: Lucretia is the one at the carnival. The VA for the character IS a drag queen. Also in the Grymforge when you release Nere and the gnomes trapped with him, you reunite a gay gnome couple. A MARRIED gay gnome couple. Also let's not forget Shadowheart's trans friend. ;)
They seem to all be bi/pan, going from what's in game. Neil, (and i think Astarion's writter as well) has said Astarion is pansexual. And yes, he flirts with both Shadowheart and Lae'zel and can sleep with Lae'zel if the player doesn't sleep with any of them. Shadowheart seems to have a thing for big muscular types as she's attracted to both Karlach and Halsin. Karlch has at some point a dream/fantasy where she's with both a man and a woman at the same time. Wyll flirts with both Lae'zel and Shadowheart and expresses that Astarion and Halsin are attractive. Lae'zel will try to sleep with either Astarion or Wyll depending on the player's choice, and has some flirty banters with the other ladies. Gale is the least obvious, tbh, as he doesn't flirt much with anyone other than the player, but since he stays with the player if they turn Illithid, it seems he doesn't care too much what his lover looks like either.
Thanks so much for watching our episode!! I totally forgot about the Grymforge gnomes until today (just got there on my honor campaign!) I think at the time of filming, neither of us had gotten to meet Shadowheart's trans friend haha! I think i missed that on my first playthrough, oops gotta make another Tav!
I found Karlach too late and already bonded with asterion, Shadowheart and Lea'zel. So after finishing the Game after 200h, i right away started a new Run to have Karlach right away in the Party.
There`s also a cook in Sharess Caress, if you talk to him he would say that he is not interested in you and he has a husband, + gnomes in Underdark, if you save gnomes and Nere two of the guys are gonna hug and call husband one another, and the most cool one i found - the mage tower in underdark, theres a story about Lenore and Yrre, and Yrre is the one who invented a lot of lightning gear and weapons, so i don`t remember for sure, but after saving sertain someone in Waukeen's Rest you can chose a weapon as a reward and in description it would say that it made by Yrre, and Yrre is referenced as "them" i belive, or somwhere in the notes in tower, anyway, Yrre is probably non-binary
As a trans person the character customisation is pretty good, but the genitals and body types are pretty binary still. Even though I can mix different binary options together, I for example get a ton of chest hair on my small masculine frame character, or I get big tits. I'm also missing visible trans / non-binary rep in the NPCs. I wish there were more characters with they/them pronouns or with trans background stories.
Very true! I feel like the optional chest hair & other chest options would've been a great addition! Not sure if you play on PC but luckily we've got lots of talented modders to add things the studio may have overlooked!
I see the game as a statement to the industry. This is how its done, now all of you for this! I mean, everyone seems happy with BG3. Now expand the options so everyone can enjoy crafted games the way they want to
I have never played dnd or any open world game before playing bg3 but it is so much fun! And hard.. i have it on balanced but i keep dying in every fight because there wasnt really a tutorial on how to fight. so my poor crew keeps dying. Ive resorted to saving every 10 min bc it kept restarting me
Oh man! 😅 well at least you're having fun! I've gotten to a point where I have an Honor campaign but I'm so scared to progress & risk losing everything! 😭 - Jamie
@@sourpqtch3905 yes, she's a cleric so she'll have a lot more health spells as she levels up as well. The spells that heal multiple characters at the same time will help you a lot
The gay options are just as important as the straight ones. Both sexualities exist irl and it wouldn’t make sense to exclude either, especially in a game where you can date other characters and you have the freedom to pretty much be anyone and do anything. People like seeing themselves in the media they consume . And if they have a chance to make themselves, why can’t they? If they’re gay, they’re probably going to want their character to be gay too. who or what you romance is optional. This game is all about letting you make your own choices. If you don’t want your character to be gay, he doesn’t have to be. It’s your choice. Be whatever gender or sexuality you want, no one is forcing anyone to be anything they don’t want to be.
@@Lunakitty1234 Thing is, all characters end up being pansexual. It would be better if you had set sexualities for the npcs, with maybe Astarion being pansexual, and maybe make it harder to approach if you are not in their orientation. Having the "everyone digs everyone", is the unrealistic thing
@@keelhld94 Astarion is pansexual. The men he seduced for Cazador was gay. Alfira and another tiefling are lesbians. Theres two other girls that are lesbians too. Theres two male dark gnomes in the under dark that say they’re married or are going to get married. For easier gameplay and better enjoyment, the main characters are player-sexual . Meaning they will like you as long as you’re nice to them and help them with their quests, regardless of your gender . The game won’t let differences of gender lock you out of romances, it would be less fun to play if they did that.
@@Lunakitty1234No, it wouldn't. It would encourage multiple playthroughs. I literally replayed Cyberpunk 2077 as a female character so I could romance Judy. What I did enjoy is how real it felt to try and still be rejected. It didn't turn me off the game, it sparked another 30+ hours of game play, trying out new/missed game mechanics I hadn't tried in my previous playthrough. Sometimes we just have to acknowledge that some folk just aren't into you, and that's okay.
Will pinpoint and watch this video later cuz I haven’t done the story yet All I can say for now is how awful it is that if you play a nice male character, all your camp turns gay There is a mod that only allows straight advances, really wish it were part of the base game
I've had the opposite problem. With my playstyle, all three female companions have made advances at various playthroughs. Let them down easy and went on my way 🤷♂️. It's really not that serious
@NVNNN ain't my fault you don't got game cause if you romance one of the woman then it blocks all non monogamous relationships from advancing. Boom problem solved (except for Halsin but I hard ignore him the entire game so he ain't really a problem for me 💀)

I haven't watched the whole video yet, but BG3 has one of the most realistic depictions of queer friend groups I have ever seen.
It really does!! 🤣
