Very nice job 👍 The double hinged ceiling gives a better feeling of space inside and with the workspace inside you have the option of cooking indoors if necessary. What about a sink for washing up etc? I was expecting more when you opened the second slider. A pop-up table would be easy to install, adding extra versatility. The big advantage of the 2nd door is being able to get and out from both sides. You could make the seating area slightly more L-shaped and move the unit back a bit. So many options to tweak the design further 👍
All great ideas and possibilities as you said. The twin slider is a nice addition but realistically you only need a few points of access, this works well for ventilation and easy access to that cupboard area. Sinks and cookers are also an option but as always each build is spec’d specifically for the owners and it their choice whether they’d like one or not. More and more builds are being spec’d this way. If you spend most of your time and campsites why not use their washing facilities rather than the van?
Love my T5.1 Caravelle Exec, also a Twin (Power) Slider, and tbh I like the idea of having the fridge module like that with the way you guys have done it. Lovely job!
The T1 will always be the best Transporter. I'm not talking stock. Upgraded to 2 liter motor, highway flyer IRS trans, disc brakes in front. Maybe ball joint front end with rack and pinion steering. Gilmore makes an AC if you want. it can be modified to WHETEVER you want inside. Dormobile makes a pop top for it as well. Last I heard they sill make them for the T1 Bus. This bus has more space, safer, and reliability but every mile you drive it it's worth less and less. In the near future parts will be obsolete. With a T1 everyday it's worth more and more. There are enough parts out there to build one from scratch. (Yes there are a few companies that already do it one in the States one in Thailand that I know of. You can order a NEW T1 bus) Did I mention safari windows? Hands down best bus is the T1 do not even try to compare the plastic bus. It is nice though. I would rent it for a weekend for sure. Looks like a fun camper. Just do not say Best Transporter or you will get a reality check.
@@ICU2HI I think you actually mean a T2. The T1 is a beetle. 👍🏻 I somewhat agree but in terms of practicality the modern bus wins hands down, yes I have owned T2’s! Not sure they gain with every mile at all, they like many classics have actually stopped increasing in value and the prices have stabilised. Yes the very rare examples are going to be worth something but a recreation as you describe will be worth no more than the sum of its parts as it’s not original. Also the maintenance and running costs of these old buses is very high compared to the modern ones. Even with a 2lt engine you’ll have to spend loads of money to as much power as you can get from a T5, the T5 will also easily do 40+mpg. You’ll only be doing that when pushing your T2, which is highly likely 😂 I really like the old ones, but! They’re a show car, not a practical all year round transport. Oh and the space inside a T2 is massively limited because of the rear engine layout the the raised section to house it, the T5 is a completely open space so you could do WHATEVER you want to either but the space inside a T5 is better, so opens itself to more options. Horses for courses, but as an everyday car/transport the T5 is easily superior.
No god for mountain biking, cant put your bike inside, also, these “vans” are massively overpriced for what they are,i bought a 20 plate standard transit, insulated it,carpeted it,two power points and an inverter, tons of room for bike and a bed, small diesel heater too,20 grand all in!
Of course you can get your mountain bike inside, we take ours mounted on a rail at the end of the furniture. We’ve made countless post about bikes inside the van, we even made the front cover of a national magazine. Transits are cheaper, they always have been. Not sure of the relevance? If you want value over quality then yes there are plenty of other options….

The only downside with this layout only 2 people can go away in this as only 2 seatbelts
@@jamesstone1772 it’s a kid free zone. 👍🏻
If you want seat belts you need a rock & roll bed.
