Still one of the greatest under-rated songs ever. This song has so much feeling to it its unreal. You Cheat you lie. You make me want to cry. We have all been there...
I still consider this the best music video ever made. Its style has been copied all over the place, and has been used in ads, but back in the 80s some artists like Godley and Creme were truly innovative. We may have better technology now, but we don't have any better idea of how to merge music, words and visuals to make art. This is art.
I forgot about this great classic. Just one of the best Videos ever made. It shows us that we all are really the same underneath. Thanks for putting this on. Reminds me of somebody in my life once. Hope shes doing well. Songs sure do bring back all the memories.
wow, im 26 and this song makes tears run down my face. I heard it in Grand Theft Auto 4, of all places, for the first time, was alone on a mission admiring the city, this came on, made me think of my father I lost when I was young, the girls I've loved so much, all of it. The only real music...came before my time...
This video is so great, I loved the editing, it made it seem like everyone shown was a single person, somehow it comes through, this message of connectedness. I felt like each of them strove for the same underlying goal of love, peace and harmony. Thank you for providing this, Dimeuno.
This is one of my earlest memories of music vids and i still think its one of the best. Myself and my sis to this day still challenge each other on those high notes at the end.
This video was really so ahead of its time. That's probably the reason why this song/video did not the attention it deserved. This was truly one of the best songs from the 80's.
Been listening to this song over and over again since I heard it in the GTA commercial. Always like to hear those one-hit wonders out of nowhere and go 'i remember that song!' Lol indeed!
mY god.... I have been seeking to find to find this song for many years. I heard it on MTV. AND LOVED IT. many years later, i am now 55, parts of the song come to me.But most of the memory is lost. I am a big u-tube lover. And I tried for years to get this song. It never happened. But along the way ,I found so many great songs, news event, comedy, unknown great talent, sports and junk. But on 9/20/08 I hit -cry- and there it was
I remember when this song and video were released in the eighties. It was ground-breaking special effects for its day but the thing that I like most about it, is the simple fact that its a fantastic song.
A classic. Thanks. The Miami Vice episode w/Don Johnson walking forlornly down the beach after having lost at love. No other song or music could have been more appropriate. The music in this song is actually a compilation of clips of previous 10cc songs, remixed and brought together into a classic ballad. Amazing result!
my dad bought this album a year before i was born... I bought him a turntable for his birthday and had never heard of this band before. I love it! I say that i listen to metal... but im very open to new stuff!
OMG thank you for this submission. I have not seen this video since I was 9 years old. And I do remember watching this video with my cello teacher in 1985! :) Thank you again for this, it allows me to reflect on good memories :)
This is another one of those lost classics. I'd just love to get a DVD/Audio in 7.1 surround of this. Cranked to 11, of course... :). It brings back so many good memories, which is odd now that I think about it considering it's lyrics, but I do remember doing some awesome things while this song was out there.
Godley & Creme, Brilliant, Original, Inventive, Creative, Not To Follow, Lonely Heights, Man the guys where FAR ahead of their time and so much copied after. The Einsteins of the music scene. Albums like "L" are one in a million, listen to those details of music in combination with their sound design...Deep, deep respect for those men.
Summer of '85 my hometown was celebrating their 100th year birthday. Standin on the curb suckin on a candy Push Pop, washing it down with New Coke, lookin totally cool in my Reebok high-tops with neon green laces, my wrists adorned in neon friendship bracelets, and Rave to hold the hair in place. God, those were times of greener pastures. Way before high taxes, pricey real estate, and the weak dollar! Well, at least I can still purchase TaB cola!
my dad bought this album a year before i was born. and i bought my dad a turntable for his birthday last week. i had never heard of the band but they are awesome! I say i listin to metal but im open to anything really!
I remember first hearing this song and seeing the video on Mtv when I was a wee lad. It's instantly unforgettable. It was the first time I had seen morphing faces like that... So surreal.
I also think the same as what you say. Will all those people still live? What are they doing now. I was totally forgotten about this song. Great 80's track.
I saw and heard this *ONCE* when I was about 8 or 9, and it has haunted me since. I vividly remembered the face that does the first "You cheat, you lie". How freaked out!
An absolute classic. One day, when mankind ist fully stuffed and bored with thousands of hightech-videos, you'll remember this one. Thanks for uploading.
Second to last person is Trevor Horn - producer of records by Art of Noise, Yes, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Seal, and owner of ZTT Records. He also recorded as The Buggles (note the big glasses). Trevor co-produced this song. I'd like to know if there are other cameos in here or if most of those lookalikes are just lookalikes...
i completely agree! trent reznor doing a cover of this would be amazing... I also agree- this video's way way way ahead of it's time. I wonder why it isn't more popular.
I love how this slowish melody goes along with all the explosive madness on screen while driving in GTA4! Believe it or not they sorta go along with each other.
The original "Morph" video. Done many years before Michael Jackson used it in "Black or White." Perhaps not as polished, but the concept was done years before with this one. I would love to see a remake with all the original faces just to see what they look like today. The guy at the very end always chokes me up. LOL Great, great memories!! The albums is fantastic as well.
A little FYI, Lol Creme and Kevin Godley are former members of an english band called 10cc. They appear periodically throughout the video. At the end of the video (when the music pauses for the Cry, Cry, Cry ending) they are the first two singing Cry. I have this in vinyl at home and it's good, however the rest of the album isn't.
Godley and Creme who created this song and video really broke through some barriers with music videos in the 80's. They're responsible for the Police video, "I'll be watching you".
ahead of it's time...michael jackson used it a hundred yrs later right before the fall from grace....godley and creme aka 10cc were great, not a lot of mainstream hits, but Im not in Love...ring a bell? classic...i loved this video though, glad it got here.
yeah deffinately, i often just sit back n chill listening to music in the cars. occasionally just parking the car and have the music playing in the background. i hear this song all the time online in gta4 but i've never heared the whole thing before because people keep shooting me n stealing the car lol awesome song
yes really in 1993 the song was used in beavis and butthead on mtv also in the new xbox game gtaIV,also the band are getting back together, they didnt leave the music scene they have been making music vids for very famous bands, also the song cry reached no.16 in uk and no.19 in u.s,its really nice to be apart of that...
One of my favorites. Wondered if some of the people are known. For example, was Steve Perry and the guy in the large glasses, from Buggles fame? (Video killed the radio Star)?
It'd be worth buying GTA4 just to be able to cruise around listening to this song, it's the only place you could drive aimlessly at 4.00 in the morning enjoying music and the rain.
ya i have this game, i was doing a helicopter mission where i have to bring it to an area, and they played this song, and i loved it so much, and i found it right here, so ya, thanx gta for producing good songs
Incidentally as well as featuring Godley and Creme this video stars legendary music producer Trevor Horn, Frankie Goes to Hollywood lead guitarist Brian Nash and a young Alex McGowan - the future English actor, comedian and Impressionist.
This was a ground-breaking video when it came out in 1985. The song still holds up well two decades later....very underrated!
15 years later I decided, that this comment was worth at least one like
Cutting edge for it's time. Still holds up great after all these years. Reminds me when MTV actually played music.
One more of those great ones from the best period of music EVER! 80´s will live FOREVER!!!
Still one of the greatest under-rated songs ever.
This song has so much feeling to it its unreal.
You Cheat you lie. You make me want to cry. We have all been there...

Yep, this song is a real grabber, loved it for years, great voice too, know these blokes are real talents.
one of the most moving songs i've heard, it really gets you in the heart, the shivers came first, then gets your heart.
Awesome. One of the songs that I used to see on the early Saturday morning video shows when I was a kid. Hooray for Godley and Greme.
I remember Don Johnson walking on the beach...
Best video ever. Beautiful Song

what a lovely voice this guy has......Absolutely brilliant.
This video is so great, I loved the editing, it made it seem like everyone shown was a single person, somehow it comes through, this message of connectedness. I felt like each of them strove for the same underlying goal of love, peace and harmony.
Thank you for providing this,
Dimeuno.
Same here! Unforgettable - that's one of the reasons I like this song so much to this day!
Magnificent music, videoclip and song by ex-Ten cc duet.
I lovin this song.
Silver from Poland.
Some times I have to just watch this over and over again. We all love and have lost.
This is one of my earlest memories of music vids and i still think its one of the best. Myself and my sis to this day still challenge each other on those high notes at the end.
Was a RAF boy at the time & boy, does it bring back some great memories.
Wish i could go back....i really do.
I Love This Song...brings back lovely memories....makes me feel young again...
This video was really so ahead of its time. That's probably the reason why this song/video did not the attention it deserved. This was truly one of the best songs from the 80's.

My favorite song of 1985 and of the best all time videos!
A classic. Thanks. The Miami Vice episode w/Don Johnson walking forlornly down the beach after having lost at love. No other song or music could have been more appropriate. Brilliant

Such a lovely song....amen

I use to play American football with the Mr T look a like in the eighties for the Streatham (London) Olympians. He was a great player!
my dad bought this album a year before i was born. and i bought my dad a turntable for his birthday last week. i had never heard of the band but they are awesome! I say i listin to metal but im open to anything really!

Saw/heard a plug for the latest GTA game... Godley & Cremes' Cry blew me back to when "Music Video" MTV really got goin! Love that early stuff!
GREAT video! I remember seeing this on VH1 when it was released. It was way ahead of it's time.
One of those true one-hit gems from the 80's. It was in a great Miami Vice episode with Ted Nuggent.
何度聞いても素晴らしいです。

Timeless epic. The video, the song.
This is still one of the most interesting music videos I've ever seen.
i love that guitar!
Breathless!!!
I love how this slowish melody goes along with all the explosive madness on screen while driving in GTA4! Believe it or not they sorta go along with each other.
Love this song!
Sounds even better when you listen to it with the noise of people smashing into the front of your car in GTA IV! xD
The appearance by Michelle Pfiffer was stellar. :)
The final during since the 3.25 it's powerfull.Powerfull of sensations.
Best video of all time..
Really love this song
I love how the photos all morph together.
absolutely!
do you remember how, in the 80's, MTV talked about how ahead of it's time this video was?

Her name is Lisa Edwards from Australia, she's one of John Farnham's back up singers.
One of my favorites. Wondered if some of the people are known. For example, was Steve Perry and the guy in the large glasses, from Buggles fame? (Video killed the radio Star)?
