Okay... Why did she stick her hand into a MOVING machine? I mean seriously. It's common sense to turn off a machine before touching/cleaning any moving parts.
This is one of the videos we watched for our safety training at work. Hate to see people get hurt, but they are doing a good thing by passing on their dangerous experiences.
We had one of these damn machines at the Pizza Hut where I worked. It had a safely bar at the top but it had been removed; probably because it would get tripped by a fat piece of dough. I originally believed that it just simply broke off but when I went to assist at another Hut across town, I met the jackass that said that he was removing those bars because they 'slow down' productivity. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard that a piece of safety equipment was too much of a hassle. A safety briefing I attended while in the military was taught by an instructor who told us this: Every time you see a safeguard, it's inevitably because it's caused someone to lose their life, fingers, toes, etc. Manufacturers rarely ever add a piece of safety equipment out of the kindness of their hearts, because it costs them money. They often only add safeguards only after reports start coming in that their machines are maiming and killing people.
Darrin Nunyah because maiming and killing people costs them more. If there aren't enough people getting hurt for the costs of the settlements to outweigh the cost of the safety feature you can bet it won't get added. Prime example if the Ford Pinto. New about the problem with them for years, could have fixed it for pennies per car, but that was too much....until the settlements started adding up.
At age 18 I had a saw blade go across the top of the nail of my right index finger. It did hit the nail bed a bit, and though it wasn't horrible (didn't even need stitches), my fingernail grows with a small hump down the center. I call this my warning. All my life I've been almost glad it happened because it made me extremely careful with all the other machinery and tools I've used for nearly 50 years after the accident. I feel so bad for anyone who's had a horrible accident. We don't know how precious all our fingers are until something tragic happens. Be careful out there. Always disconnect the power when servicing a machine or tool.
I responded to a crushing accident at a bagel shop of all places. We arrived before the Fire dept. On viewing the young patient, one hand/arm was stuck in the dough mixer part. Her arm was 1/3 into the blade area. The only thing that saved her arm from being ripped off was the small HP motor that stalled and the power was shut off. She was very lucky to have a badly bruised arm/hand. Training.... thats the key, along with what once was called...COMMON SENSE.
... damn, lets hope this experience prevents others from having the same happen. in retrospect everyone can yell how stupid it is to put your hands in a running machine, but that's the point ; if you are young and inexperienced that mindset to constantly assess that risk simply isn't there. and a to the point very clear instruction to be carefull by your boss might have made all the difference ; especially if they have machines lying around that are actually that open.
Poor girl! I want to show this to the moron I work with who used to climb into the trash compactor as it was running to arrange the trash "one more time". Last time I pulled him out bodily and I had to nearly take his ear off to get his head through the doors in time. Idiot. That's how we found out the machine still compresses down another two feet after the emergency stop is pushed. He thought it was funny while I have nightmares. Do you have one for trash compactors? Maybe he'd learn then.
Wow, so her parents believed she was old enough to get a job, yet she turned out to not have enough common sense to turn that machine off before sticking her hand in? smh
This is truly a horrific accident and I am truly sorry for this girl however rule number one never never put your hands near any moving parts if the a machine is operating always stop it first that's just pure old fashioned common sense which shouldn't require training for. Also there should have been a guard in place to prevent someone putting there hand in there in the first place at least that's how it is in Europe
I’m guilty of cleaning the meat slicer while it’s on. I’ve been a chef for 16 years and never had an accident. However if any of my sous or line guys try the same I loose my shit . I know I’m totally a hypocrite.
Jessica Please use the Lock Out Tag Out procedure. It only takes a few moments. That machine was literally designed to slice meat. Setting an example is a good way to educate others.
Something similar happened to me when I was a child but it was a roller ontop of a fence I thought someone hit me with a hammer since I didn't feel anything but a crushing feeling I didn't cry and they were able to reattach it once we got to the hospital
Just knew it was a kitchen appliance with a belt or chain, even before she told her story. Many kitchen appliances are poorly designed with few safety features.
never put your hand in a moving machine... and some machines realy have no purpose other than to make it cheaper for the company... you can knead dough with your hands, a wooden roller...
You get out of life what you put in. You cant expact to get spoon fed your whole life the problem in this socitity is the newer Generations dont feel lile they need to work too make it in the real world.
BMotherF_kinW Idk what you're talking about. It doesn't seem like an appropriate comment lmao. There are plenty of young people who are involved in laborious work in construction, refineries, factories, etc.
I do construction for a living and I fully agree with work place safety for anybody especially around machines. I do want to comment though why does this young lady take ZERO responsibility for her actions? Why would you stick your hands in moving machinery? Yes training is important but that is just absolutely stupid and no training can fix that attitude or lack of personal care and concnern for your own health.

It’s easy to judge until your in the situation. You will never understand until you lose a limb yourself to a workplace accident
How bout don’t stick your hand into moving parts? I didn’t need training for that.
over 2000 people a year get killed by trains 200 years after they were invented, you just can't cure stupid.
R E You are evil.
No, because when you hurt yourself at work you won't be saying this.
New Jargon its pretty damn obvious you shouldn’t put your hands in moving things she should’ve turned it off.
Don't stick your fingies where you wouldn't put your dinky-doo..
word
Is that horror movie music in the background really necessary?
DjIch1 right
DjIch1 yes. Yes it is...
Makes young workers more anxious while watching.
This is one of the videos we watched for our safety training at work. Hate to see people get hurt, but they are doing a good thing by passing on their dangerous experiences.
Wow a spinning machine that's on, I'm gonna put my fingers through it
Rule number one: NEVER TOUCH A MOVING PART OF A MOVING MACHINE EVER.
You got that right
Rule number two: COVER YOUR CHAINS, BELTS, SPROCKETS and PULLEYS WITH GUARDS.
+Brad the chain is *inside the fricken machine!* Tough to get more "covered" than that.
T.K.B yeah that iq 101
Rule number 3: make sure your supervisor hasn't removed the guards

"Regulations are written in blood."

Had to be really dumb to stick hands in between a roller.
At age 18 I had a saw blade go across the top of the nail of my right index finger. PlanetRockJesus man I've been playing guitar for about 30 years- I know EXACTLY how precious MY fingers are....
Well this is sad
That someone got a settlement from sticking their hand inside a moving machine
Bro it’s frikin common sense if there was dough stuck in a machine would you get it out in the risk of losing your fingers
I didn't know you needed to watch a training video to keep your hands out of places where they shouldn't be
Just need some commonsense love, no training needed to know NOT to stick your hand in a bloody working machine !!
I responded to a crushing accident at a bagel shop of all places. We arrived before the Fire dept. On viewing the young patient, one hand/arm was stuck in the dough mixer part. bcmedic1
The small HP motor was probably designed on purpose to stall in case of a jam. Who ever designed that mixer did a good job.
bcmedic1 apparently, to quote a comment from above, "common sense is evil".🤔 Ok then, I guess natural selection is NOT....

I'm sorry for what happened to her. That's awful. Though I didn't know you need training to know how to NEVER put your hands on any moving machine.
This is quite the video
And On That Day At Bankbridge Regional
Jimmill Smith Cut His Finger
Don't you know not to stick your hand into a working machine? I'm so sorry for your accident
October 24 1995
Poor girl!

Do you have one for trash compactors? Maybe he'd learn then.
bladeofbattousai they WILL have one for trash compactors, but I think you and I both know who it will be about....
Wow, so her parents believed she was old enough to get a job, yet she turned out to not have enough common sense to turn that machine off before sticking her hand in? smh
That's so fucking metal
This is truly a horrific accident and I am truly sorry for this girl however rule number one never never put your hands near any moving parts if the a machine is operating always stop it first that's just pure old fashioned common sense which shouldn't require training for. That cameraman really wanted his footage
so serious
Someone got some extra marinara on their dough that day...🍕

Young Curt tasteful.
Turn the fucking machine off before you mess with it, blame yourself not the machine
All that and they didn't show her hand.
I'm not saying it's her fault but why clean theachine while it's ON?!
Andrea Cazares young kids do stupid things
I’m guilty of cleaning the meat slicer while it’s on. I’ve been a chef for 16 years and never had an accident. However if any of my sous or line guys try the same I loose my shit . I know I’m totally a hypocrite.
Jessica Jordan Never say never, even though you are a pro you never know what could happen on an off day.
Jessica
Please use the Lock Out Tag Out procedure. It only takes a few moments.
That machine was literally designed to slice meat.
Setting an example is a good way to educate others.
So are you going to stop being stupid and stop cleaning it when it's on , or not
@@sscot720 She's probably looking for a settlement
trespire yeah. Don't be like Arby's and sell someone a sandwich with a finger in it.... Jackson Michigan for the win.
Didn't want anyone to know.
So i was on my recommended.
Who else is here cuz they needed to watch it for coop?
what happened to the good old days when we press the dough flat with a rolling pin
Something similar happened to me when I was a child but it was a roller ontop of a fence I thought someone hit me with a hammer since I didn't feel anything but a crushing feeling I didn't cry and they were able to reattach it once we got to the hospital
Ur finger?
I thought they were bullshiting when they said discretion is advised
Just knew it was a kitchen appliance with a belt or chain, even before she told her story.
Many kitchen appliances are poorly designed with few safety features.
Im confused.how gan you get in that kind of situation..
Worst nightmare ever
What A Nightmare
she has artifical fingers now i think
Why that looks so scary
never put your hand in a moving machine... and some machines realy have no purpose other than to make it cheaper for the company... you can knead dough with your hands, a wooden roller...
Watching this video because I don't have enough credits
Huh
was she given more?
Because she was mainly the culpable party - it was mainly her fault.
What's with the saw blade music? Weird choice.
Wow.
Well they need to do a competencies test, if you need to be trained not to stick your hand in a running machine, you are not a good employee prospect.
HCS 3000 anyone?
Logo looks familiar
Oh wait
R3l3ntlessCow 🤮
TheMattc999 it was just a joke
I woulda bought a corvette with the settlement oh and maybe a nice tv too

Losing fingers cannot be compared to losing a child, I've lost a child before guarantee it cannot compare ever.
Im sorry for your loss, but you forsure dont understand what she is saying.

@tysonsite 100% ? sure...
Look at all that carcinogenic oil and grease on that dough rolling machine.
SubvenioArguo you should probably stop buying manufactured foods then if that bothers you...
its called food safe grease, usually made from OTHER FOODS!
some people just like to complain
Food grade grease and oils exist. I've not had that one through a spectrometer but never assume. Worth checking if in doubt? Of course.
you know... she said 3 fingers were taken off.. but a :58 you can see she has at least 3 fingers on her other hand... FAKE!
Just stay in kindergarten where it's safe.
this was sad I should show those stats to everybody who gives me shit for not having a job yet
Lame excuse.
Well, no one should work for a society that doesn't benefit them.
I do construction for a living and I fully agree with work place safety for anybody especially around machines.
