Thank you for this. My money anxiety started to ease when I tracked my spending, faced a long-looming tax liability, and began living on less than I made. It’s actually a relief to know what it is rather than live in denial.

I have really bad money anxiety. Growing up from 6-15 we face so many evictions. Bankruptcy and now as an adult I have horrible anxiety. It is driving my spouse crazy. I budget every little penny but I still feel like I am not doing enough. Thank you for bringing awareness to this. I am sending this video to my wife. I am so happy I found your videos I have been binge watching them and implementing them day by day. I now have a Roth IRA and High Yield Savings account and I never knew about that. So thank you so much

I can sympathize with your feelings; I have had them too.
I’d like to share with you how I dealt with these feelings (at least on the financial side):
      - identify the main source of anxiety. Is it loosing your source of income ?, debt ?.
For me it was not having enough money in case loosing my job.
      - implement a savings plan that would easy your anxiety the most. For me it was having 4 months worth of essentials needs while still paying any debt (took years)
      - direct that $ used for the safety net above towards paying off debt (get to zero revolving debt)
      - once my debts were paid off; the money I was putting towards debt payments is now directed towards savings on top of my safety net.
By the way, it took me 4 years to get to this point. But it no longer matters on which day of the month I get paid, and I have enough to cover my expenses for 5 months in case I loose my job.
      Good luck to you.

We live our whole lives worried about money. We're either worried about not having enough, or if we have enough then we're worried about losing it. Everyone is manipulating everyone else for more of it, and we can't even take it with us when we die. We can pass it down to our kids and family, but they all leave this earth also. It's so important to detach from the desire for "more" and budget and be content with what we have, because nothing lasts. The mindfulness book 30 Days to Drop A Bad Spending Habit by Corin Devaso was a cool little book I liked because it had nothing to do with money, it was all about being content with who you are. Money is just a tool...not our identity.

I have had financial anxiety my whole life. I need money therapy but I can’t find one. So I try to dig deep by journaling. Pour my emotions into writing my thoughts.
I was born with financial rollercoaster and irresponsible parents. I got out of all debts but I had to build my financial nest from ground zero up, alone, no support. Now I have 2 houses paid off and 10 years savings. Still, no wonder why I have the anxiety due to my financially traumatic background.
So I know that I need to give myself the trust. A pat on the back and compliments from times to times. The most important: COMPASSION.

Paying off debt is shovel to hole ratio. I got mine down with a second job. Not fun, but best selfless decision I ever made with a wife and baby on the way.

I have done every step you spoke about so I appreciate the validation. I still have a bit of debt to overcome and I know I can accomplish it by May. I already feel my next level of anxiety starting as to how much do I put towards which accounts to increase my savings rate. Not sure if that is excitement or if I am just so used to being anxious with my financial situation for the last 5 years. Trying to take it 1 step at a time.

Have you done a video where you talk about the impact of the boomers drawing down (i.e. selling stocks) on the market? My latest anxiety is the market crashing when price drop because of a big sell-off. And that's just this week's money anxiety. 😏
