The RC30 was an iconic bike, even now it is revered by many Motorcyclists, I always remember the one quote when i read about it, “it will do 80mph in first gear”!!
The RC30 and RC45 were completely different bikes and designed by different departments. The RC45 was a lash-up compared to the RC30 - plain bearings on the camshaft etc. It took years to make the RC45 a race winner.
Fragile 888cc Ducatis versus the RC30. Fully-developed 996cc Ducs with most of the best riders against the RC45. Honda had an easier time compared to the competition in the early days.
Just bring back the '86 VFR750 it was a real racer for the street. One of the cycle mags took it to Texas Motor Speedway, I think it was, and set 24 hour speed record of 140 mph+ average speed on a relatively stock bike and it was a beauty to look at too.
If they wanted to revive older customers they would just make a RC800 and make a exhaust and cam kit avaliable as a bolt on. Old (90s) looks. See 2024 ZX-10R trust me it will sell.
VFR competing against the Panigale? Are you building an RC or a VFR? Yamaha MT10, Tuono V4 1100, S1000R and the Ducati SS950 is the competition a VFR would face. Go back to gear driven cams, drop the VTEC and make it comfortable and sporty for under $15k.
Had a chance to see RC30 uncrating was beautiful bike. My VFR750 was being worked on and owner told me to follow him into warehouse. I guess not many dealers were able to get these.
If it’s going to be in the price range of the Duck V4, it better perform damn close to it then. My 02 RC-51 is a smoker, but when I jump on my 03 Duck 999, there is no comparison. Nothing of that year could touch me on the track, or the street. Honda is still chasing.

I had a few new RC30’s brilliant bike even though the fibreglass bodywork cracked subframes broke but a superb bike just the same.
